    The Office, Season Two

I got it this morning for $35 and then returned it when I returned home and saw this stuff about it being $18 at CC. The ads had all been relatively close, including CC's, so I didn't mind spending a little more for the bonus disc set. But a video blog certainly isn't worth almost twice the amount.

Thomas did about as poorly, though. You take away the homers and he had a miserable season. I think there was more faith in Thome bouncing back than Thomas, who many thought was finished.

Head to Circuit City right now if interested. It's ringing up for $17.99 and this is apparently the case across the country. The sales price is supposed to be $29.99 this week, so either the sale or available sets aren't gonna last more than a day or two, if that.

I wonder if Frank Thomas gets any MVP consideration. His team's probably postseason-bound and these last couple of weeks have bloated his offensive numbers.
  5. Yeah, Florida seems to have that effect on most of its residents.

Oh and I try to avoid MLB boards like the plague, but you guys should check out the White Sox board. Every other thread is about how the team sucks or how Ozzie should be fired. According to one intelligent individual, Ozzie managed them "right out of the playoffs today."

Frank Thomas is playing like a man possessed. I recall saying he was going to be the sleeper of 2006. What a bargain for the A's. On a lighter note, the dress Jose Lima's wife was wearing in the somewhat legendary photo, is currently up for grabs on eBay.

Twins are gonna be two back after today. Victor Martinez just homered in the ninth in Chicago to put the Tribe up 3-2. It came on a 3-0 count right after the third pitch had been called a ball that Hawk and company insisted was a strike. Ah, the pissing and moaning that ensued. P.S. Ozzie's using half of his bullpen to get three outs in this inning, even though there's only been three hits. Stupid micro-managing.

Fifteen strikeouts. To the BRAVES. Cubs will try and do the impossibly by dropping all seven games to one team for the second time this season. You can only blame rookie pitching so long before you look at this idiotic "walks clog up the bases" ideology and realize it's made your team pathetic. How about "hits for the sake of clogging up the bases?" Cubs had nine hits today and one run, which came off a homer. I'd say there's a problem when you regularly rack up close to 10 hits a game, but can't scratch up more than two or three runs. But whatever. Only three more weeks.

Henry Blanco of all people tripled to lead off the inning of a 2-1 game. Guess what the score is now?
  11. I find it tough you can love three teams per sport. For me, I find it tough to love more than one team per sport. I love the Cubs (ugh), but I like the Indians and A's, too. That doesn't mean I'm getting too upset or happy if those last two win or lose. As for me, I curse that 1994 summer day when I came across WGN. Truth be told, I had only took an interest in baseball because of Frank Thomas and wound up watching my first Cubs game just to hold me over until I could watch Frank Thomas and the Sox play later. *cringe* I need a shower.

Travis Hafner's season is over because of that fucking hit by pitch and my fantasy team weeps.

Still wouldn't be even close to the biggest team collapse.

I'm not sure what "the new Barry Bonds" is supposed to mean, other than being really good. Which I would think would be a good reason for the media to praise him. I'd imagine he just means constantly talked about and considered the standard. With Bonds, it was understandable, as it is with Pujols, since personal feelings aside, those two were/are the best hitters in baseball. That said, I don't mind it with Pujols, whereas I couldn't stand it with Bonds because of my disdain for Bonds. Wade Miller made his first appearance on the year and not surprisingly, things didn't go well. I believe he only went three, walked four and gave up four runs. I only watched an inning, but I cringe at the sight of his piss-poor mechanics.

Why the hell is it so hard to meet people...

I went to a community college for three years, so most of the people I hung out with were friends from high school. But this was the time when I became better friends with them, whereas high school, we'd always been friends who didn't hang out much outside of school. I don't view that as a bad thing, since we seem to have matured since graduating (actually they're all a year older than me) and don't act like we're still in high school. That's really what you need to watch out for when it comes to hanging out with people from high school. I know a group of people who hang out with everyone they were friends with in high school and act like they're still in high school. I didn't make a lot of great friends those three years, but because I worked for the newspaper, I knew a ton of people around campus I could shoot the breeze with. But from what I've seen on University campuses, there's really no way you can help but make friends if you're living on campus, especially your first year or two.

Well, when guys like Bonds, McGwire and Sosa being the ones who have passed 61, I don't mind. We're obviously not living in a completely "clean" era, but Howard would probably be the first clean guy to pass Marris' mark. And I love these White Sox fans. They're down 7-0, but 21 games over .500 and their fans boo the shit out of them regularly. I know it's frustrating, but if the Tigers aren't so amazing this year, the Sox are right there in the division race. As it is, they're still near the top of the WC and like I said, 21 games over. Yet, they're alleged loyal fans are calling them a terrible and heartless team. As I type this, Hawk's bashing them for not being an opportunistic team this year. Winning the World Series has just turned the Red Sox and White Sox fanbase (for the majority) into bitter and uncontent people.

You've got to be pretty awful to lose nine of 15 to the Pirates. At this point, I'm pretty sure there will be another Great Chicago Fire if they extend Dusty. He's getting booed everytime he pops out of the dugout these days.

Damn, I wish I didn't have a bye in my fantasy league this week. I've got Posada AND Teixeira on my team. Five homers and 14 RBI for my team today alone. They'll suck ass next week.

Derrek Lee just hit a grand slam to get Rich Hill off the hook from a potential loss, even though he gave up one earned and struck out 11.

Anibal Sanchez has one of those things going through seven, but ESPN is naturally all over it, so, yeah.

Speaking of the Tigers, they DFA Dmitri Young.
