We'd just draft another one of those toolsy players that always turn out so well for us.

Probably the worst part about that is Dusty lifted Cedeno, who was 2-for-4, to bring in Bynum. Way to show faith in the youth in an ultimately meaningless game, dummy. So now that they've got the Bucs out of the way, it's time to focus on those Royals.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it took a lot of hard work and close to $100 million, but thanks to a Ryan Dumpster wild pitch, the Cubs have sole reign on last place and are on the verge of being swept by the Pirates for the second time in a week tomorrow. EDIT: Wait for it; Gameday said Blanco made it an out, but now they're saying he's on first. Freddie Bynum's hitting, so this shouldn't take long. EDIT II: There we go. Bynum K's and Torres K's the side. Fitting a Dusty Boy is the one to make the last out that puts the Cubbies at the bottom.

Jason Bay's already got four RBI and two homers in two at-bats. He can smell fifth place!

I'm not getting the game, but I read Wrigley's looking pretty empty tonight. Who wouldn't want to see the battle for the bottom of the NL Central?
-
Cubs put Jerome Williams on waivers and Oakland's claimed him. Considering they got David Aardsma from the Hawkins deal, it was still a good trade for the Cubs, but I'm disappointed it came to this. He seemed to have the makings of a reliable middle-of-the-rotation starter.

Because it wasn't in HD?

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread
Bruiser Chong replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
Same here. I'll probably be watching it at least two more times through, since various people want to see this after I introduced them to the show through glorious DVD. I'm disappointed more wasn't done with the set, though. The commentaries don't do much for me, since there's too many people to make anything of substance happen. And since this is for now, the last we'll see of these people, it would've been nice for some more in-depth features. -
The story's accurate. Reed was set to win the title, since Steamboat had wanted to take some time off to be with his newborn son.

You may not be able to say that after tomorrow.

So the Cubs lose a one-run game to the Bucs, even though they had many shots to tie or take the lead after the Pirates had scored all their runs by the third inning. Looks like they've produced yet another guy (Buck Coats) who can't lay down bunts and the ever-wise Dusty Baker took down Ryan Theriot for Jon Mabry, because he's a lefty or something. And has the ability to strike out on three pitches and swings. The Pirates have one more loss than the Cubs, but they're all notched at 55 wins. C'mon, Cubbies, I know you can do this.

Marlins now over .500. I wish their owner weren't a piece of trash, because this is incredible otherwise.

May 18. I remember being out on a date while he was getting closer to completing it and having the bulk of my attention falling towards the TVs with ESPN on in the place.
-
Poor guy. He went from being three outs from the no-hitter, to being taken out of the game within four minutes.
-
And now Carlos Zambrano's hurt. Terrific.

The battle for last begins in Chicago today.

I keep forgetting that gruesome detail about the crash.

Down to $2.49 here, so I guess I should be happy. We seemed to be getting some of the highest prices when this whole gas price hike thing started.

How long did Adonis hang around after WM III? My WWF TV viewing from the era is limited, so WM III has always been the latest I ever saw him in the WWF. And I'm assuming when Meltz is calling JYD the second worst wrestler in the business, he means Hulk's the worst? If that's the case, it's incredibly biased of him, since there were far worse wrestlers on this show than Hogan.

Jacque Jones may just have the worst arm in professional baseball. I'm not sure if I've seen him make one throw towards the cut-off man that didn't make at least one hop. He just threw a ball from near the corner that virtually died halfway to Theriot. It's like watching the kid from The Sandlot throw.
-
Angel Guzman was an out away from qualifying for his first major-league win, but apparently has some cramping in his arm and couldn't convince Dusty and co. he was okay enough to finish. Too bad.
-
Ryan Howard's a god damn machine.
-
Michael Barrett to the DL with some groin injury. Sounds painful, so I'm not sure if he'll be back. Buck Coats has been recalled. Never mind Michael Restovich is rotting away in AAA, because everyone knows the Cubs needs 14 infielders on the roster. That said, Henry Blanco is playing first today. Dear god.
-
Of course, this does nothing for us Americans.

Woosh!
