I'm assuming your college has a gym/fitness center of some sort. If you were to drop the class, you could easily fit in a good workout in that empty space. Hitting the gym following a long day of classes is just what I need after sitting on my ass pretending to pay attention for hours on end.

I knew this would happen. I had four guys starting today (Haren, Livan Hernandez, Josh Johnson and Ben Sheets), so I benched K-Rod. Naturally, those four starters got me two losses and two no decisions. K-Rod, meanwhile, came into a tied game that the Angels now lead by three, so it looks like the one guy who will get me a win today is on the bench. Stellar.

I remember reading a few years back that the Kamala figurine was the rarest wrestling figure out there, and worth hundreds of dollars. He has the LJN Kamala figure. You're thinking of the Hasbro Kamala figure, which there are two variations of. The one you'll virtually always find has a moon on its belly. The rare one, which I've heard is limited to under 100 or so, has a star on its belly. And WM III is nowhere near the best PPV ever; it's just a tremendous atmosphere show. Landy, how many Observers do you have? This guy on eBay is selling off a lot of Observers from this era up until 1991. A lot of the auctions just ended, but he's got some more I'm gonna try and grab if you don't have them already.

Thanks again for posting these. Hearing all this stuff about Kamala makes me question what happened to him? If you only had access to commercial videos and PPVs, you'd never realize he had any kind of push, since he was frequently absent from the former and completely vacant from the later. When did he finally leave the company and what were the reasons surrounding it? And I'm assuming nothing ever came out of this Hogan movie thing, since I thought No Holds Barred was his first feature film and taping for that didn't take place until after Wrestlemania IV.

Nats came back from something like 6-1 and won it in extras thanks to four walks. And crap, after an amazing at-bat, Theriot draws the walks and gets picked off. He won't start again for two weeks.

So a day after both Murton and Theriot homered, Dusty's using that managerial brilliance by playing Pagan and Bynum today. Whether these four are in the team's long-term plans isn't really relevant; Dusty should be playing the hot hand right now. I guess a five-hit game followed by a multi-hit game (Theriot) doesn't qualify as being the hot-hand. Stupid racist Dusty.

So many people forget what a lousy roster that team had. When people complain about the Cubs not being near-2003 levels, they need to consider a few things: 1) The Cubs were a .500 team most of the way. In fact, I believe they finished out the first half under the .500 mark. There was a point when guys like Jose Hernandez, Bobby Hill and Lenny Harris were getting regular starts. 2) The acquisitions helped, but the soft September schedule helped more. People like to cite getting Ramirez and Lofton as what propelled them into postseason play. I don't think they get there without those two, but they probably don't get there if they have to play a lot of good teams down the stretch. There was that critical (and superb) five-game set against the Cards in early September which put the red birds up against the wall after they lost four of five, but the Cubs seemed to be playing the Pirates, Brewers or Reds ever game down the stretch and those guys were putrid in '03. 3) Their rotation was the bomb. It's irresponsible Hendry and Co. still relies on Prior and Wood to be there for any length of time during the season, but when you peep the Cubs' 2003 rotation, it's scary. When a pre-Boston Matt Clement is your fourth starter, you've got it going on. Prior being unbeatable after coming off the DL, combined with a healthy Kerry Wood, blossoming Carlos Zambrano and reliable Matt Clement is what made them such a threat. You take a look at the guys we had on the field and it's a wonder the Cubs got as far as they did. Alex Gonzalez? Damian Miller? Eric Karros? Woof. Let's not forget about that awesome bullpen with Alfonseca, Farnsworth, Dave Veres, Mark Guthrie, Mike Remlinger and Joe Borowski. And people wonder why Dusty had Mark Prior throw 9,392 pitches in the playoffs.

I was wondering why he was out of the game when he hadn't blown the lead.

Well, five in one inning, maybe.

You had a main event that was a year in the making. I wasn't suggesting Hogan wasn't a draw after 1987, but his popularity in 1985 to say, 1989, can't be compared.

I was just gonna post this. He'd annoy the hell out of me now, but I've got nostalgic warm and fuzzy feelings for the guy because of 2003.

Rich Hill quietly went eight innings, giving up one run, striking out six and walking just one. It's the second consecutive outing in which he's given up one run and gone at least seven. I don't think he's a front-of-the-rotation starter, but it's looking like he's finally taken that step forward from being labeled a AAAA guy.

I wouldn't argue a whole lot with that. While it's true he's remained a force in some capacity to this day, it can still be argued his hottest run were those first few years as WWF champion. I'd mark 1988 as when he became more stagnant and the buzz started to die down on him in comparison to the first several years of Hulkamania.

Dontrelle finally gets in line for the win and Sergio Mitre blows it on the first pitch he throws.

It's funny to think the Cubs have over a period of time, traded Sammy Sosa for a PTBNL.

He won't be much help, but he brings the possibility of the longball with him at times. He's probably a slight upgrade over White, at least.

I'd be asking if there's any way to bring Wells back if Tavarez is actually starting.

Jim Leyland's awesome. He came out to complain to the ump after the top of the 7th, vented and then heard the beginning of "God Bless America," so he calmed down, took off his hat and went crazy the moment it was over.

All these people complaining about have good players on their team. Would you care to have Freddie Bynum as your second baseman?

How would you feel if you spent a couple of hundred to take your family out to see the Yankees just so you can see Scott Proctor blow the game. I would be pissed too. Yankees should be 5-0 against these horrible Tigers if it weren't for Clueless Joe putting bums into the games twice to close it out. 83-50 is pretty horrible. Seriously, quit being a melodramatic baby and be happy your team is poised to win the division yet again. Nothing makes you happy. Absolutely nothing. I'm convinced the Yanks could win the World Series in five games and you'd be dwelling on them losing Game 3.

Probably the best part of this is the reaction of all the Yankees "fans" around here. "YOU STUPID FUCKER!!! ROAR!!!" You guys are eight and a half god damn games up on the Red Sox and we're almost in September. Shut the hell up.

Rod Allen is furiously gaining ground on Hawk as the most annoying homer in baseball. He sounded like JR as he exclaimed, "HE DID IT AGAIN! WHOOOOOOOO!!!" That was pretty awesome, though.
