That inning was so Cubs. Now if only they had done something with the leadoff "triple" an inning prior.
-
What was he like? Dirty scumbag who fucked at least 2 of my sport-playing female classmates. And probably more. Well, there goes thing from the lesson plan.
-
Yeah, no kidding. For god's sake, the Charleston was still a decade and a half from catching on the last time the Cubs won it all.
-
Even with Aaron Rowand falling on his head, the Cubs can't bring home a runner from third with no outs.
-
Holyjesusgoddamnchrist. A wrestler couldn't pull that spot off.

Top 8TH B:0 S:0 O:0 Freddie Bynum remains in the game as the second baseman. He's a miserable person?
-
Wow, Ronny Cedeno is awful.
-
Yeah, but Wells is an injury-prone fatass who can barely make his delivery without lifting his right leg up with his non-pitching hand.
-
Thankfully Juan Pierre was up next.
-
It's Rich Hill; there's a good chance he would've walked him, anyway.
-
No, no, no. Dusty can obviously now employee the secret weapon: a Bynum/Pagan left field platoon.
-
As great as the Neifi trade was, I'm worried again, since the Cubs activated both Glendon and Freddie Bynum today. It wouldn't be as bad if I knew they weren't going to be used.

Quiet, Al. The sky is falling!
-
David Ortiz is not clutch!

I can't believe this is still on. I tried to go to bed over an hour ago and came downstairs, expecting to see Sportscenter. Instead, I'm watching this replay of Coco Crisp forgetting Fenway's outfield has a wall.

You guys are never happy.

Cool, now Morgan's saying Youkillis walking a lot is good..."to an extent."
-
They're obviously more concerned with moving runners along, moron.

This is a sign of how great the Tigers are this season. EVERY team goes through at least one stretch where their fanbase begins to wonder if they'll ever win again. The Tigers have been amazing all season; they were bound to dropoff at some point. That doesn't mean they won't get things rolling again.

How is it a good pick up for them? Surely he couldn't have been the only guy capable of playing second base that was available. If the Tigers are picking up the second year of his contract, then Jim Hendry may have just pulled a smaller scale Aramis and Kenny for Bobby Hill and Jose Hernandez. What's his contract like? I think it's a good pickup because Polanco might be out for the rest of the year and they don't really have another option at 2B. They didn't give up much for him. I know that Cubbie fans hate Neifi, but he's a capable fill-in for the Tigers, and when Polanco comes back he goes to a utility role. I guess I'm just surprised anyone would not just take Neifi, but take him knowing he's still owed another year of salary beyond 2006. Two and a half million isn't a horrible amount of money, but it's too much for a guy who's best reserved for the bench. He and Infante aren't too different offensively and Perez doesn't boast the defensive range he once did. It seems like there had to have been better (and probably cheaper) options out there. For all the praise their GM has been getting, he still makes a lot of questionable moves.

And if we wanted to make connections that aren't really there, we could say the Tigers began to blow their 6-0 lead shortly after the announcement of the deal was made.

That's the real kicker. I'm just happy they found someone to take his contract. It was bad enough they re-signed him, but knowing he was going to be here for a year AFTER this one was almost too much to take. Truth be told, he's a completely serviceable swingman. The problem is Dusty has insisted on making him more of a starter than a role player. I suspect Leyland will actually utilize Neifi's strong suit.

NEIFI PEREZ HAS BEEN TRADED TO THE TIGERS! In other news, Dusty is now on suicide watch.
-
What's the point of trading for a guy closing in on his mid-40s when you've said you may not even contend in 2007?

I love how Maddux made the first out of the inning. Of course, it was his second at-bat of the inning.
