It's funny- well, not "haha" funny- since I was almost involved in two accidents days before the crash that wouldn't have been might fault (the first was some broad in a truck trying to change lanes while she was next to me and the other was another truck running a red light while I was in the intersection), but narrowly avoided them. Then I'm taken out by the dreaded hydroplaning.

Wow, Varitek went hitless in eight at-bats.
-
Len just said the Cubs are 4-0 when Italy wins the World Cup. Gold.
-
Mine came to an end last Monday, but that was because I crashed and bounced it off the wall on the expressway. Stupid rain.

Cubs have eight walks today and to no surprise, have 10 runs. Who knew walking could parlay into more runs?
-
I'm more concerned a series win today could mean this evaluation by Hendry on the coaching staff is over.

Prior's a bitch. He strained his oblique taking BATTING PRACTICE. Not only is he not in there today, but he's questionable for his next start after the break. In Cub language, that means he'll definitely miss his next start.

- Glendon Rusch started in place of Mark Prior today. Hoo-ray! - Miguel Cabrera's young, but he's such a baby. He and Scott Olson had an incident in the dugout, highlighted by Cabrera poking Olson in the face like a five-year-old and Giradi scolding a pouting Cabrera like said five-year-old. - Adam Dunn's a monster.

It took me by surprise the original was so beloved. It looked like the type of movie that would be all but forgotten in a month, but then it became this cult hit. The sequel sounds bloated and from what I've heard, it suffers from redundancy and poor editing. Something tells me that at two-and-a-half hours, that's accurate.

Oswalt just pitched nine innings on Wednesday. Garner must be looking at the Dusty Baker playbook. Not confirmed yet, but I heard through the grapevines that Kerry Wood as a torn rotator cuff. If this is true, it makes the MRI a couple weeks back look shady.

They took down the wrestling media section two weeks ago because of lawsuit threats. Vince said he didn't want his material being seen without his consent among people who say words like "takein" or "mabey." Even he has standards, guys.

The fact that he's not even appearing at the game is a sign that it's more about him not wanting to be there than his injured knee. If people are going to waste their votes on him and he's getting a bonus specifically for making the All-Star team, he should at least be there. And with the way the rosters are managed in the game, he'd be in there for what, three or four innings?

The Derby has become more stale with each passing year. We've pretty much seen it all and there's a real sense of burnout by time everything's said and done.

Capuano has three starts against the Cubs this season. His ERA against them: 0.00. He's got two CG shutouts and went eight scoreless last week. He was only lifted because of the pitch count and that he gave up a lead-off single in the ninth of a six-run game. His ERA against other teams this year is almost 4.00, so if he'd gotten the final All-Star spot, he'd have the Cubs to thank for that. Again, I'm thankful I don't have access to the Extra Innings package this week, because I know I'd torture myself by watching these games. This way, it's easier to pull for them to lose in hopes that Dusty and his crew aren't back in the second half.

Especially when one is AJ Pierzynski.
-
Damn it, Dempster. Sure he comes through when Dusty's job is on the line.
-
Too bad it's up to Millar. Cubs are clutching onto a 1-0 lead. I think they were threatening to score one in the ninth, but by the box score, sounds like more terrific baserunning took them out of that.

It's been a while since the Cards were this close to .500 this late in the season. They're usually pushing towards 20 over by this point.
-
With today's news, that's probably for the best.
-
Jeff Suppan finally has the mediocre/awful ERA he always seemed like he should've had.
-
That's what a lot of fans are predicting. The team has no hope for this season, but those who will be around for next year will tank the next week if they know what's good for them.
-
Oh man, this may finally be happening.
-
Wow, 16-1. If only the Tribe had pitching.

I can accept the Cubs being bad, but why can't they be bad by letting the youngins play? Angel Guzman hasn't pitched in two weeks, despite looking real nice in that game he replaced Glendon Rusch in during the second inning. Meanwhile, Glendon gets into a game (and increases the deficit) his game back from the DL. Stuff like this makes me more saddened to see Scott Williamson back off his comments he made last week about Dusty Boys.
