This was the high point of the night for me, too. On the positive side for Nacho, that My Super Ex-Girlfriend movie looks like it has the potential to be even worse than this was. Woof.

I was at the Indians/Cubs game, but left during the lengthy rain delay. I would've probably stuck it out had it all been up to me, but the people I was with aren't the biggest fans, so waiting for over an hour was too long for them. Nice to see Blanco filling in nicely for Barrett and Pierre doing what he's supposed to be doing. My seats were probably 10 rows up from the third base side, so I got the pleasure of watching an exciting game of catch between Juan Pierre and Freddie Bynum. I think they were like eight feet apart. I've got tickets to the next two games, but I'm not all that optimistic, since they face lefties. This is one of those cases where it won't kill me to see them lose, since I'm pulling for the Indians, even though they've really taken themselves out of the race in the last week.

Yeah, there's the shock of 2006.

I didn't say it was the worst movie ever made, but it was up there. I've seen countless movies in the theater and never have I considered leaving. I can't say that, anymore.

Look for the Cubs to have a hold on last place in the NL Central by Wednesday night.

After the Indians failed to score in the ninth, I knew it was over. Their pen is just so bad. I'll be optimistic for once and say that despite getting shelled, the lack of spring training or a real start this season means there's still some rust. It certainly helped the wind was rapidly blowing out; some of those homers barely got out of there. I didn't mind him too much when the team was average, but now that they're great, he reminds me of the pompus fan who rubs it in your face when the team does well. Some of his reactions to the homers in the first were embarrassing. I missed it, but I guess the guy who sang for the 7th inning stretch was wasted and called the Cubs fans "bitches."

Dusty and I better not both be in Cleveland tomorrow.

When Hendry said wait until Prior gets back, maybe he just forgot to add on, "so he can give up a two-run homer to Vance Wilson."

I'd also like to add that with the Tigers' improvement this season, Rod Allen has become unbearably annoying. He makes Hawk Harrelson seem objective.

So, I take it Prior's return start isn't going as planned? Well, there's always Wade Miller...if he ever comes back. How much longer till the Cubs pine for that fireballer Glendon Rusch to hurry up and get healthy again? After one, he'd give up six runs, five earned, three homers, a walk and had thrown 39 pitches. His command was sub-par and he made matters worse by little leaguing a throw to first on what was supposed to be a sac bunt. Add in the Cubs being as impatient as always, and the difference in pitches through three is around 40. Without exaggeration, I think Prior himself just had the longest at-bat for the Cubs. Things are made worse in that I started him on my fantasy team, given his past track record of being just sick in his first start off the DL. That sure says something that he's made enough of those starts to base anything off of them. He's not THIS bad, but the outing makes Hendry look like a bigger goof for telling everyone to wait for Wood and Prior, while doing nothing to actually fix the team.

THAT'S what we waited almost three months for? Hendry should stop with the lip service; the return of Jesus Christ himself couldn't turn this team around.

Cubs put Glendon Rusch on the DL with a sore back. Or something. Easier than just cutting him, I guess. At least I can be ensured he won't start any of the games I'll be at this week.

Those were all hilarious. High brow comedy like Curb Your Enthusiasm is good, but there's nothing wrong with low brow comedy either. Fart. Low brow humor's funny when done correctly. I didn't think that was the case for the most part here. Explain why rubbing shit across someone's face is funny.

I don't feel like rehashing my thoughts, so here they are from another board: I've never seriously considered walking out of a movie before. Hated some, sure, but never have I gotten to the point where I was ready to just hop over to another movie. Just a terrible piece of junk. And this is coming from a Jack Black, Napoleon Dynamite, offbeat comedy fan. Libre depends on appealing to the lowest common denominator. There's slapstick and lowbrow humor. Both can be funny when used properly. Neither really is here. I think I laughed two or three times and none of them came from the asinine sight gags and lowbrow scenarios. Jack Black farted; hilarious. Oh, a corn stalk stuck in a guy's eye; gold! Poo smeared across the face; classic! Ugh. As disappointed as I was with the movie (which is saying something, because I had NO expectations for it going in), I was more rattled by the audience lapping this trash up. Call me high-handed if you must, but it's incredible what makes some people laugh. Total waste of a night and had I actually paid for my ticket, I probably would've jumped to another theater. -------------------- I wanted to like it, but it just wouldn't let me. The appeal of Napoleon Dynamite was how off-beat its characters were. We didn't know a lot about them, but they were so odd that we sort of embraced their quirkiness. The characters in Nacho Libre are hollow and uninteresting. The awkward silences and half-baked scenes that made Napoleon work just don't gel here.

Eric Wedge needs to just let his starters go the distance, even if it takes 198 pitches.

What's not to like? Payroll is $15 M. Used about 20 rookies this year and they play their hearts out EVERY play. Great team. No matter what their record ends up being. That's the kind of team I'd like to be a fan of. Cubs are just about polar opposites of the Marlins, other than the record thing. They may wind up with a WORSE record than the Fish.

Oops, Bob Howry's broken. Just like everything and everyone affiliated with this black hole of an organization.

Fuck Juan Pierre. Worthless piece of shit, but an expensive one at that. Eleven baserunners and one run.

It's a sickness. I go there mostly because Cub news is reported almost right away there. But there are those who don't understand the game and want to cast away anyone who has a bad game. There are actually those who endorse the idea of a Bynum/Murton platoon in left. Apparently Freddie's occasional basehit has led many to believe he's got a lot of potential.

Chris Capuano's throwing down. He's likely done for the night, but not before striking out 12 Cleveland Indians. Sabathia had a rough first and will probably get the loss because of it, but had a solid night outside of that with nine K's.

I thought Cole Hamels was supposed to be amazing. That's what I get for picking him up for a spot start. At least Francisco Liriano isn't letting me down. Just too bad his team won't score for him.

I'd imagine Rusch is still around because getting rid of him would mean the Cubs would have to admit they made a mistake by re-signing him to a multi-year deal. It's not in their nature to do so; easier to make excuses.

They should just cut their losses and designate him for assignment. He's had one good year and that's the basis of his contract. I wasn't sure why he was getting the start after Guzman was called up. Guzman's only pitched three innings, but if those are any indication, he should've gotten the start. Hopefully we've seen the last start from Mr. Rusch.
