Wait, what? AoE is on the DS? Yep. It actually works pretty well, too. It's more of a turn-based game where you use the stylus to move your units.

They aren't going to win a championship - I suppose it depends on what you mean by "winning now." Will they win more games? Sure. Will they make the playoffs? Probably. Will they make the finals? Probably not. Will they *win* the finals? (You know, the ultimate goal) Absolutely not. The fact is, the Celtics can not win now. They just can't. They play in the East, so they should have a shot at making noise in the playoffs. Allen adds to a good nucleus and they can probably get something of a role player as well. Plus, they've got Doc..... ........ Yeah, you're right.

What was the cartoon that had a bunch of Hanna Barbera (?) characters in one big road rally? Captain Caveman had a car and there was like a jalopy too.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Vader's post? Around 2000-01, when Edge and Christian were the goofy guys hanging around with Angle (Team ECK), they had kazoos one week and were putting a humorous spin on people's theme music. Remember the opening guitar riff of Benoit's first WWF theme? E&C put lyrics to it: He is Chris Benoit and he's really mad He is Chris Benoit and he's really ang-REEEEE! -

Dice-K is getting absolutely nothing from his offense lately. He holds Seattle to a measly run, but Boston loses 2-1 in 11 in their annual "Lose to Seattle in extra innings" game (at least this one didn't go 16 or so like a few years ago). Here's Matsuzaka's June starts: Today - 8IP, 1ER, 8K (ND) Run support: 1 6/22 @ SD - 6IP, 1ER, 9K (W) Run support: 2 6/16 vs. SF - 7IP, 0ER, 8K (W) Run support: 1 6/10 @ ARI - 6IP, 2ER, 9K (L) Run support : 1 6/5 vs. OAK - 7IP, 2ER, 8K (L) Run support: 0 5 total runs in five starts. He should have been 5-0 this month, not 2-2 with one ND. This team does NOT need Mark Buehrle, they need their fucking bats to wake up.

Mine moved it into the 200s with all the other digital cable sports networks. It's basically the cars, poker, Stump the Blob, American Gladiators and the occasional classic baseball game or boxing match.

that would be an awesome Fight Night show, and for the hell of it throw on Hughes/GSP 3 to really draw ratings No way they throw away a possible PPV goldmine in Hughes/GSP III on Spike. The finale is being replayed Thursday night, so at least I'll be able to catch the rest of the show (came home in time for Diaz/Manny and the main event).

Neither do I. It'd be nice to have another body in the rotation should Schilling have more shoulder trouble, but I don't know if starting pitching is THE pressing need right now.

12-14 year old me obviously appreciated that my homeroom teacher in JR High had Power Rangers on in the morning so I could get my fill of Amy Jo Johnson flipping around (even though they had her wear bicycle shorts under the dress).

Dear God, who thought having the Padres wear their retro uniforms was a good idea? Banana yellow and brown on the hats is not a good combo. If they break out the brown jerseys this weekend I'm going to puke.

Den-ver, The Last Di-no-saur! Rarely watched that one, but I still remember some of the theme song. The kid-themed game shows were always fun. The ones Darthtiki mentioned along with GUTS, Legends of the Hidden Temple and Nick Arcade (featuring games from the cutting-edge Neo Geo system).
-
There's only been 53 episodes so far. In showing two a day as TBS usually does (even when breaking up the longer ones), they would burn through the whole series in a little over a month. That wouldn't work out too well.

His record concerning shortstops says hello. He just makes some odd choices sometimes (Lugo this year, Rentaria instead of just keeping Cabrera, trading Arroyo right after signing him to the extension, giving Drew all that money instead of just filling the RF hole for a year and going for Ichiro).
-
IIRC, he doesn't have that much of an injury history and had only two "bad" years ('03 and '05, though he still topped 200 hits both years). With his hitting ability and speed, that's one hell of a tablesetter for a high powered offense like Boston or New York while also providing a great defensive presence to boot. I'd certainly give him 3-4 years, especially since Boston can further solidify their position in the Far East with a guy like that and Dice-K. Hopefully he can learn to play center, though.

TBS is going to start showing reruns this fall and FOX affiliates will start doing the same in 2009. I guess you don't need to get to 100 episodes in order to be syndicated anymore?

Spike is re-airing this one tonight at 10PM.

It bounced off like 30 pairs of hands before a guy finally corralled it. Matt Holliday is the hidden secret of the NL.
-
Curt Schilling is headed to the DL due to soreness in his shoulder. Someone from Mass General send a corpse over to the team doctor so he can figure out how to deal with it. Or just use Julio Lugo. Same thing.

Dealing with Dama and the Dabaiters was a pain in the ass when I was modding. Nein.
-
That the Yankees get another unlikeable asshole on the roster? He was having a decent year in Toronto last year before that blowup that got his ass thrown off the roster.
-
I liked that, even though half the roster was supposed to be standing in the hall right next to the outside door when the explosion happened, nobody came out to see what that big BOOM they just heard was all about.
-
If you missed the Star Wars-themed Robot Chicken, you can watch it here. Even if you've never seen an episode of the show, I would recommend watching it because it is hilarious.

It was inevitable that the Bruins were going to go after this guy instead of someone good. I mean, he DID lead the Devils to that great record last year only to be fired because......uh......of underpants gnomes in the locker room? Maybe Phil Kessell should ask to be demoted to Providence again so he can play for a good team next year.
