Judging by those ratings, a 1/3 of the people who tuned in to watch it disagree with you on that one.

I'm surprised at your rather cold attitude towards Angle getting back in the ring BPS, but that aside.... What's the point in signing Angle now if you're not going to have him wrestle for a couple of months ? Striking while the iron is hot and all of that..... -

Ha-Ha-Ha. It's more like people are (very) well acqainted with the WWE to the degree that we know Angle must be rightly fucked if Vince was willing to run the risk of him signing up with someone else by letting him go. The upside for TNA is obvious, and if it works out then great (I'm not watching any wrestling at the moment myself as neither fed's weekly shows have grabbed my interest) but if the absolute worst happens - then TNA will have to shoulder a large amount of responsibility for that. -

The same thing the WWE did, put the man's life over making a few dollars. From a cold business point of view, you can see what they brought him in but....when you're looking scummy next to the WWE, you may have a problem. On the bright side, JJ/Angle should be a great program. Have to laugh at the mental image of Vince's face when heard about this though, bet he went fucking nuts. If, and it's a worryingly big if, Kurt stays healthy and this kickstarts genuine competition between the two feds that in-turn results in some quality wrestling television, then great. -

oAo ECW on Sci-Fi Week 12 Thread - 8/29/2006

Well that rating seems to prove how important the RAW-ECW synergy is to ECW's ratings so I doubt we'll be seeing any drop in cross-promotion soon. -
Presumably this angle is now done as Nash is apparently out of contract with TNA. Number of times Nash pinned by X-Div wrestlers : 0

Uh-hu, and if a certain bald Spike favourite just so happens to start up with TNA right after JJ retires Sting, then Joe will just have to wait a little longer....and longer...
-
Yeah, they've put on a number of great wrestling shows in the past - certainly have a better recent record than the competition does, at least in that regard. Slammiversary was ultimately disappointing for me, less so because of the main event but more the Joe/Steiner match which really failed to deliver after a decent build and a KILLER final promo package. Maybe failed to deliver is too harsh, certainly unsatisfying though.

It's certainly going a lot better than I expected, you always have that nagging feeling with Nash though that (in the end) he'll be the one left smiling, y'know ? As for something in the WWE I'm enjoying as much, I don't really catch much of their stuff these days but I do LOVE the midget thing with Finlay - as per the Nash angle, on paper it sounds terrible but in execution it's proving to be very entertaining.

While I actually agree with that, I think Christian's efforts as champ so far suggest that the WWE had him at about the level his ability merits.

"A correction on an earlier correction. TNA Impact did a 0.8 on Thursday night even though due to a mathmatical error, Spike reported a 1.0 earlier today." - Meltzer
-
What in the....? He never had any kind of 'run' in TNA!
-
Never said it was dumb, think you're mixing me up with someone else. Didn't catch the show myself, the way jwpeer describes it does make it sound alright. As to whether it worked or not, well we'lll see when the ratings come in.
-
Ah, right.
-
That logic kind of falls apart when you consider that the hypothetical viewer has sat already sat through the UFC end credits and post-show commericals to get to TNA.

"For fans that tune in this Thursday night, the Daniels vs. Joe bout kicks off the program and is already joined in progress. In this TNAwrestling.com exclusive, our online fans can watch the beginning portion of the bout that won’t be aired on television!" - TNA Website.

WWE security and wrestlers vs drunk wrestling fans ? Yeah, that'd be a close one I reckon.
-
Wasn't it only last week that Larry Z told Joe he was out of the X Division and wouldn't be getting another shot ? Samoa Joe...the best pro wrestler in North America today ? In-ring ? No doubt.
-
That and you know that if your boy is put in there with HHH, he'll be on his back taking the 3 count come the final bell
-
And people have been suggesting that maybe PWinsider are making money off TNA
-
I'm not so sure it's a terribly bad thing - if they'd gotten the original slot, without any kind of UFC lead-in, I reckon they'd have been creamed in the ratings.
-
They should focus on creating compelling, exciting angles for the talent they already have under contract.
