Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread
Spaceman Spiff replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
Hey, how 'bout this pic from Bill Simmons's "Super Bowl Blog": Stu Scott & Screamin' A having a meeting of the minds. -
Personally, Kane bores the hell out of me. Granted, his mic work was a pleasant surprise during the whole Lita angle, but in the ring, he does absolutely nothing for me w/ his generic big-man offense. Sideslam? Check. Big boot? Check. Chokeslam? Check. Crappy punches? Check. Boredom? Check. The last match of his I enjoyed (didn't see the title match vs. Benoit) was 2-3 years ago on SD against Angle.

Not only do you have a fine sense of humour, but an up-to-date one as well. Yeah, I wonder where he got the idea to change his name........

Only if Taz trained for the PPV. I don't want a commentator wrestling on the PPV, even if he was an ECW big name wrestler. Tazz isn't going to be doing any wrestling. He's got a bum neck.

So, we should be using the military to take down non-democratic countries all over the world? Doesn't that seem a bit expensive, both in terms of money (with our current $400+ billion deficit) and lives (where reservists are put on extended stays of duty)? Who, may I ask, is next on the checklist?

I think I meant that I suck at wrestling history

Regarding my name change.

Bah, y'all just Star Wars haters. "I see you hatin'", indeed. -
Use it to build a little drama as the match progresses - "can Benoit become the 1st man to win back-to-back Rumbles?" They don't have to constantly mention Benoit's name, but have JR or Tazz throw that out there to remind people he's still there, and that he won it all last year. Then, when he gets eliminated, it's a bigger deal for the guy who tosses him (which shouldn't have been Flair).

Except for two ways: Two) The storyline contract expired, and was bought out by the other brand. AKA The Matt Hardy Clause. I'd do this, Have HBK show up on Smackdown and announce that while he was out with his injury, he didn't know nor did The Raw offices realize that his contract expired with raw in mid december. Since he had not resigned with Raw, that effectively made him a FREE AGENT. And on Monday morning, he called his lawler to see how he could get out of raw and simply learned he'd been free for over a month. So monday afternoon; he called up Theodore Long and promptly signed a new contract...with Smackdown. Bischoff finds out about it that night during Raw and goes ballestic, and tells coach "Looks like one of our raw superstars has just jumped to Smackdown". Bischoff threatens legal activity but according to the Board of Directors; there's nothing shawn did that was illegal. Right, so Raw "management" didn't realize that the contract of 1 of their top stars expired w/out them realizing it? That seems a little far-fetched.

Why has Eddie gone from World Champ to mid-card?
Spaceman Spiff replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Eddie couldn't handle the pressure, which was due in large part to the pathetic nature of the SD brand at the time. Angle was hurt, Brock was gone, Benoit was on Raw, Big Show was hurt (I could be wrong on that one), they wouldn't push RVD against Eddie, Booker was trapped in the quasi-voodoo gimmick and being Taker's bitch, Taker wouldn't go heel against Eddie, and they were going all out making JBL a ME-level heel. He literally had no support, and was feeling the weight of SD sinking under his reign. -
WWE Saturday Night Solar Plexus

Haas got screwed when they released Rico. That teaming was getting over big-time before Rico got hurt. -
Would that be considered a hate crime?

Yeah, that match already ran. Pretty decent match, featuring a pretty sweet 2nd rope Russian Leg Sweep. -

Yeah, I read about this in this month's "Power Slam" magazine. According to the magazine the event is to be held in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania which have an offical ban on barbed wire matches. Makes me wonder if it will happen or maybe they'll break out the rubber barbed wire. I think the "quality control" issue is that they've effectively given away the outcome of the RR triple threat match.

TV Guide also says that a main character will die before the season is over. Any guesses?
