Quick news bit: Pratt & Gonzalez each get 3 game suspensions for that brawl in Philly.

"The crow flies at midnight" is just generic/jokey "spy lingo". It doesn't have any special hidden meaning.

Hey, "Bill Moves On" is on right now. I flipped over while watching South Park when I saw this thread. I missed all but the last few minutes, where they're taking stuff off Bill's desk.

Hats off to the Leafs. They completely outplayed the Flyers in the 2nd & 3rd. But that had to have been one of the oddest referee'd games I've ever seen in the playoffs. Nothing called through 1.5 periods (and there could have been plenty of interference calls), then the call a ton of stuff in the 3rd. Flyers really got shafted penalty-wise: pretty poor boarding calls against Fedoruk & Brashear (was a joke), Markov gets cross-checked head first into the boards by Mogilny but doesn't get called, the cross-checking call to give the Leafs a 5-on-3 PP. I couldn't believe some of those calls made in the 3rd after seeing everything get let go in the beginning. Penalties were no excuse, the Leafs just whipped the Flyers, but I better not hear Quinn bitch about the refs after this game.

0-0 FLyers/Leafs after 1 period. A ton of hits, very little offense, a bunch of (not called) interference, and Belfour continuing to be a little bitch. Primeau tips a pass on goal as he's being tripped up by a Leafs player, and as he's sliding by the net on his back his foot grazes Belfour, who then leaves the crease after the whistle to go face to face w/ Primeau. Then, later in the period, Primeau cuts in to get a shot on goal, and as he's skating by the crease in front of Belfour, Eddie comes out to initiate contact w/ Primeau. Hey Belfour, a tip - stop worrying about trying to draw penalties (or complaining about not getting calls) and worry about stopping the puck.

Someone on CRZ's board attended the show, and says that (after seeing a picture) Luther Rains = Horshu.

Early.

IIRC, Chavo wrestled Spike on either the 1st or 2nd SD after the "draft".
-
The problem w/ this idea is that you might end up pissing off the rosters for each brand. The SD roster is already pissed that they're treated like a second-rate show, and if you book Raw to "win", you only serve to reinforce the idea & make the SD lockerroom even angrier. If you book SD to "win", I'm sure there will be grumbling by the Raw roster. It'd be a very tight line to walk to make it work.

re: Chavo's opponent - I don't believe he's faced (at least in the WWE, 1-on-1) -London -Shannon Moore -Akio -Sakoda I sure as hell hope it isn't a returning Jeff Hardy. I'd take any of the guys listed above over Jeff (even Sakoda).

There's absolutely a point - after Eddie beats Bradshaw, Book should be the next logical challenger. Book beating Taker (with or without help) gives him momentum going into a feud w/ Eddie. Having him job to Taker would be counterproductive, unless someone else is next up for Eddie. But, looking at the SD roster, I can't imagine who else they would use.

Orton/Shelton, Orton/Edge, Christian's Challenge
Spaceman Spiff replied to Zack Malibu's topic in The WWE Folder
Edge/Batista could be a disaster. Batista has been looking good in the tag matches, but I'm not sure I'd want to put him in a singles feud just yet. He can be carried by a better worker, but I don't really think Edge falls into the category of "can carry lesser workers". -
Give me Batista over Orton any day of the week (better on the mic, better "look", better dresser [pimp-tastic!]). Or, at least in tag matches. His singles stuff has been spotty, but he can definitely be "carried" by a better worker. I've been digging his stuff teaming w/ Flair.

Because Jeff can't wrestle, and would overshadow Matt?

If you're into SciFi, check out Star Blazers from the early '80s.

IIRC: -Becky was with David -Darlene was with Mark -Dan dies from the heart attack (?) -Jackie was gay, but her mother wasn't I'm a bit fuzzy on Dan dying from the heart attack. It occurred during Darlene & David's wedding, so Becky & Mark would already be married. How could it have been the other way "in real life"? For some reason, I thought the last episode said Dan died shortly after the first season (from a heart attack), after he built the writing room for Roseanne. Maybe someone can clarify. Also, the "Wonder Years" finale was pretty good, too.

I thought McCallum was just the DoP, as Lucas is still the director. Yeah, Lucas is directing, but McCallum is basically his right-hand man. Kershner & Marquand directed Empire & Jedi (respectively). IIRC, Marquand & Lucas butted heads frequently during the making of Jedi, which is what probably lead to Lucas's decision to direct the prequels himself. Together w/ McCallum, there's nobody around to really state his own opinion, and to go against some of Lucas's ideas. Lucas did direct ANH, but ANH was story & character driven. Although the special effects were great for the time, they weren't his main focus. Flash forward to the prequels, and he's focusing on the special effects to the detriment of the movies.

He said: "There is some talk of a storyline where Jackie Gayda starts falling for Charlie Haas, since he beats Rico." It's already mentioned in the original post, so I don't know why he put it in spoiler tags.
-
Another main problem is his choice of directors. For "Empire", arguably the best SW film, he had a strong director that was willing to stand up to Lucas. For the 2 prequels, he's got Rick McCallum, who is basically just a yes man for Lucas. I'm a huge SW fan. Ep. 1 & 2 are far below the original 3, however I don't have a problem watching Ep. 2 again & again, whereas the last time I watched Ep. 1 was when it was in the theaters.

One and Only Raw Thread for 4/26/04
Spaceman Spiff replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
Pssst! Orton's a heel, and Race is the hometown hero. You do the math. -
SD needs Show more than Raw does. He'd be, what, at least the #3 heel on the show, behind HHH & Orton? #4 if HBK turns heel. That's funny - everyone is praising Orton for doing the same thing.

No Dr. J in the dunk contest, but you have Harold Minor??? Dr. J nailed the foul line dunk *YEARS* before Jordan.
