That might make sense if Shane was even halfway credible. Unfortunately, he's the complete opposite of credible and makes anyone who sells for him (especially to the point of staggering up the aisle from ringside) look ridiculous. They may have blown the hottest angle they have for WM in one 10 minute segment. However, I'll reserve final judgment on that until more of the story is revealed, even in the face of countless angles appearing crappy at the start and remaining crappy throughout.

According to the DirecTV guide there's going to be a marathon of Season 4 episodes starting at 8AM ET on 1/16 (Next Friday). It starts off with a recap documentary that they normally do when coming back from a long hiatus, and then the first full episode is actually the season 3 finale. It'll go all the way up to the season 4.5 premiere at 10PM. All on Sci-Fi, of course. Just in case anyone wants a refresher and hasn't already rented, purchased or "purchased" the DVD set.

The Time Is Now... to Change Cena's Theme
WCS replied to LivingLegendGaryColeman's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm torn on this as his theme is one of the few things I still like about the guy, but yeah it doesn't fit anymore. Though, HBK's theme hasn't fit since he came back in 2002 but that's never getting changed. However, obviously HBK's had that theme a hell of a lot longer than Cena's had his, so that comparison may be a bit of a stretch. All in all, I'd be okay with the change if it happened. -

That doesn't really annoy me that much because I just assume when people talk like that they are really speaking for themselves...even if they think otherwise. The argument about whether or not Cena was over WAS pretty moronic, however. That actually made me chuckle a little bit.

Yes, how dare people dislike a wrestler that doesn't entertain them. Don't they know he draws money? I made my peace with the fact that the John Cena I liked 'died' a long time ago and that the current incarnation is good for business for WWE. That doesn't mean that I have to like it, though. I spent about 3 hours on Youtube last night just watching old Cena promos and the man was awesome. It's too bad that he had to lose a large amount of what made him unique in order to be as successful as he's been, but sometimes that's just the way it goes. As far as his wrestling goes, it's a lot less impactful than before (he was never a 'technical' wrestler so anyone expecting him to be so is unrealistic) and kind of sloppy. Admittedly, I'm basing this on his Raw matches since I haven't ordered a non-WM PPV since late 2006, so maybe he steps it up for PPV. (Also, after the Benoit thing I just stopped watching WWE completely for about 2 months or so.) I no longer like the John Cena character, but I know that a lot of people still do. So, as long as I'm still able to see the wrestlers I enjoy, I won't get too upset over it. Still, it's sad to see him be a shell of himself nowawdays.

Makes sense. That would be one of the episodes not listed on Hulu.com, hence my ignorance. Thanks for the assist. ...and now I'm bummed.

When did Dennis and Dee's mother die? I don't remember them mentioning that and I hope that's not true. Anne Archer was awesome and I want them to bring her back eventually for no good reason. I didn't like this episode until the end which made everything worthwhile. I am also looking more forward to the Nightman/Dayman musical more than should be legally allowed.

This. Especially since some teams have yet to play more than one division game or any division road games. Waaayy too early to be making any sweeping proclamations. EDIT: Though, that hasn't stopped me before...so, ignore me as per usual. Thanks.

Where I'm living now is right smack in the middle between Baltimore and Washington, but the THE team here is the Redskins. #2 would be Navy Football, and #3 would be the Ravens. However, the Raven fans tend to disappear if the team loses more than one game in a row while you'll see Redskin and Navy fans all over the place even when the teams win 3 games (or less) in a season. Maryland Basketball would be #4, with Maryland Football being a distant #5. The Orioles still have some fan support, but have been so bad for so long that it's starting to fade. The Nationals (I hate the "Nats" nickname) had a real chance to gain a foothold but screwed it up royally. This was not a surprise. EDIT: Actually, I'd say Navy Football might actually be #1, or at the very least #1A.

Also, Cincinnati took the world champs to OT, and probably should've beaten the Cowboys in Dallas if Chris Perry didn't absolutely suck. Also, Cleveland's bad, but they're not Rams bad. So, I'll worry until those games reach 00:00 on the clock and the Skins have more points than the other team.

Not sure where you got that from what he said, honestly. I think all he was saying is that Jason Campbell is playing pretty well this year, the Skins' defense might be a little underrated due to their statistics and that the Skins will crush the Rams. I don't see any proclamations of 'best team in the NFL' there, but maybe I'm a little biased. Slight sarcasm. Mike just tends to talk about how well the Redskins are doing no matter what, or just about what they're doing. It gets a bit old sometimes. I mean I know I'm probably the biggest Packers fan around these parts, and I'm not sinless when it comes to homerism, but I recognize there's 31 other teams in the league. Although it's hard to argue they might be a top 5 team right now, certainly better than any other wildcard contender in the NFC. As Bob said, he's hardly alone in mostly talking only about his favorite team or teams he knows well. As for those Skins, yeah they're looking really good right now. However, I still remember 1996 (7-1 start, 9-7 record and no playoffs). Also, for the last four years getting a 6th win has been ridiculously difficult for this team. I'll start getting really excited once the Skins win that 6th game. I know those two statements are in a way contradictory, but logic is overrated in fandom as far as I'm concerned.

As for the questions: 1. Who is the best QB in the league up to this point? Brees is putting up ridiculous stats, but Eli's playing very well on the best team in football right now, so I'm going to go with him. Not going to play that "who they play?" game, since you can only play the teams in front of you. 2. What the fuck happened to San Diego's running game? This is has been hit on earlier, but there are really two main reasons: Lorenzo Neal in Baltimore and the O-line is missing a key member or two. 3. Indianapolis is dead last in the league in rushing and dead last against the run. Baltimore is 4th in the league in rushing and FIRST against the run. Do the Colts need to get lucky again? No, they just have to score when they have the ball. As much as possible. As good as they are running the ball, B-more's offense still isn't very prolific. A couple of INT's from the Colts D certainly wouldn't hurt, though. Plus, this early in the season rankings don't mean anything. Philly had the 2nd ranked D against the run prior to Week 5. How'd that work out? 4. How long does Rod Marinelli keep his job? There's no point in firing the guy now. He'll be given the rest of this season and will be shown the door with a nice severance package. 5. Tennessee has two players with 4 INTs this year, and another with 3. By far the most in the league. Can this defense carry them into the playoffs and win there? Of course. It did last year with much worse QB play. However, I don't see them winning a game in the playoffs this year with either QB they currently have. Collins makes some really bad decisions even in his old age, and that'll cost them eventually.

My completely superfluous reply: I've been a Redskins fan since 1988 (Doug Williams baby! Shame what happened after that though...), and don't have a 'second favorite team'. My favorite sport is basketball, though, but I don't have a favorite team there. I refuse to call myself a Bullets/Wizards fan or ever buy a piece of their merchandise since I get happy when they win but I turn the channel when they're losing. That's not a fan, as far as I'm concerned. A real fan sticks with the team, win or lose. Plus, I'm actually more of a Lakers fan (you HAD to be a fan of Magic Johnson in my house growing up) anyway - though I DID root for the Celtics to win so Garnett, Pierce and Allen could win their ring. As for the other sports, I lukewarmly root for the teams in the area but not with an abundance of passion like with the Skins. I have a lot of close friends that went to Maryland so I was pretty happy when they won the basketball title in 2002. While generally people's allegiances don't bother me, I WILL rag on my friends if one of them renounces their team because that team's losing. One of my oldest friends used to be a Redskins fan until the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2000. I refuse to let him back on the Skins bandwagon this year. Every time he says something positive about the Redskins I remind him that he's a Ravens fan. Petty? Sure. Fun? You better believe it.

Yeah, as a Redskin fan I probably should've warned you that good ol' Double G (extra G for Genius) is not a fan of the whole 'in game adjustments' thing. Week to week is the best you're gonna get. He can sure dial up a nice looking blitz every once in a while though. That's a 'my bad' on my part. As for the Skins win, I'm pretty pumped. I had the Skins' record at this point being 2-3 with them stealing the Cowboys game in the final seconds. I was NOT expecting them to go into two division opponents' houses and dominate them (for those that say that a 2-point win and a 6-point win do not equal 'domination', I point to the Week 1 game against the Giants). That was fun to watch, and I'm getting cautiously optimistic about this team's chances in the future. The Skins have yet to play a team with an offense ranked below the top ten prior to their meeting, and each team has had their low output for the season (in either yards and/or points) when facing the Skins. Also, the Eagles were the first team the Skins have played so far that had lost a game prior to their meeting. Yet, they're 4-1. With the schedule being decidedly less strenuous over the next several weeks, the Skins could be looking very good going into their bye in Week 10. The Giants are the best team in the NFL right now, regardless of their schedule. However, the Skins aren't far behind, and tend to play divisional opponents really, really tough later in the season. It'll be interesting to say the very least. Oh, and the Cowboys aren't so bad either. Philly will string together some victories and will make some noise down the stretch as well. Best division out there, with the NFC South being second. Finally, collectively this is the worse refereed season so far I think I've ever seen. I don't think I need to elaborate here. Just brutal.

If that would've happened in the NFL, the team would've been fined $500,000 and the head coach's first born. That was awesome.

If a guy's leaped up, caught the ball, and hit hard enough to be drilled all the way out of bounds without both feet hitting the ground than maybe he didn't deserve that catch... In seriousness, I think there's a brief addition to the rule that an opponent can't "carry" his opponent out of bounds (I assume to prevent the above scenario from happening I.E. a defender tackling and 'lifting' the opponent until they're out of bounds). Yeah, couldn't that count as forward progress being restricted and as such the receiver would be down?

He's hilarious. Gut-bustingly (unintentionally) funny promos and awkward, bowling shoe ugly matches. You add in his impressive-looking chokeslams and powerbombs, and he's just flat out entertaining. C'mon: "But you know that I know, that you are only half the man that I am! And I have half the brain that you do!" That's GOLD, Jerry, GOLD!! As for HBK being hurt, that's really unfortunate. Hopefully he doesn't make it worse on Sunday and can heal up soon. In the meantime, Jericho can work with CM Punk and then once HBK comes back they can blow that program off.
-
I had the exact opposite reaction, but I haven't given more than $60 to WWE in about a year. So, who gives a crap what I think. In all honesty, you hate to see people hurt, so I'm glad to see that they're setting up a program for him - that means he's on the road to healing. The fact that it's a World Title program grinds my gears a little bit, but whattya gonna do? As for the show itself, looks like it'll be a good show. I'll switch back and forth between it and the Tennessee/UCLA game.

Similarly, on the Skins message board the cutting of Marcus Mason and Billy McMullen (figure Eagles fans would get a snicker at that one) spells the end of any chances for the Skins to compete for the next 5 years. Also, cutting horrible punter Derrick Frost in favor of 2007 Ray Guy Award Winner Durant Brooks is GM Vinny Cerrato's attempt to 'justify' the 'terrible' 2008 Skins draft class. Heh.

I'm not even going to speculate on this for fear of bad juju being brought onto the Skins. So, I'll say no team suffers any catastrophic injuries just to be safe. That's right, I'm a wuss. Carolina's not as good as they looked against the Skins, and San Diego's defense is not just Merriman and 10 other stiffs. I see the "vaunted" Carolina attack getting off to a slow start, but it'll pick up once they get into division play. As for how Merriman himself does, he probably won't be playing as many snaps as previous, so his impact will be lessened. Not enough to get Carolina the win, though. Entirely possible and probably likely. Minnesota's missing their 2nd best o-lineman, and Tavaris Jackson's got a bum knee. I'd be shocked if AP had more than 5 runs for positive yards all day. Eventually, Minnesota's D-Line will get tired from being out there too long, and then it'll be bombs away on that secondary. This is going to be one ugly game, since neither team plays well at the beginning of the season or on national TV (at least in the regular season, natch). The pressure will be reduced slightly, but the Skins have a 2nd year guy starting on the right side of the o-line and have looked like donkeypoo in the last couple of preseason games. I got the Giants edging out a snorer 14-13, with neither team looking particularly good. Both teams will be much better later on in the season, though. Which team ended up in last place last year? I'll take them for $500 Alex.
