Tyler, will you photoshop a new "John Edwards for America" banner? or just cross out Dean's name and put Edwards in?

If they're considering it.. they're stupid but.. just for fun.. let's put 2003 Pujols in Fenway Park! here are the changes.. 23 points of BA, 12 more runs, 14 more hits, 3 doubles, 12 home runs, 2 walks, and 3 less strikeouts and here are the changes with 2003 Pujols in Coors Field 30 points of BA, 25 runs, 25 hits, 1 double, 15 home runs, 3 less walks, 2 less strikeouts and Pujols in Kauffman Stadium (damn team.. DRAFT THE KID FROM THE AREA.. nevermind) 24 points, 29 runs, 20 hits, 2 doubles, 14 homers, 3 more walks, 4 less strikeouts Hey kids.. remember.. Pujols hit .388 in a park that favors pitchers. Scary, eh?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...oage.1ee4e.html But.. under the new rules.. Soriano's suspended for a year, right? Oh.. wait.. they don't apply to superstars. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb...s_mlb&fext=.jsp

FYI: Russ Branyan was signed by the Braves

via Rotoworld According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Cubs and Greg Maddux are set to finalize a contract on Wednesday. Maddux will probably get a two-year deal worth between $14 million and $15 million. His addition to the rotation would push Juan Cruz back into middle relief.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/16/internat...&partner=GOOGLE Lets see.. Afghanistan doesn't appear to be any more encouraging. With the extremely low registration rate and all. And it appears Karzai won't have any sort of serious opposition. Between that and the opium and the security.. Afghanistan is taking.. babysteps. I'd assume. Did we remember to attach funding for the rebuilding over there this year? *shrug*

#13 is Jeter's old number
-
yeah.. I don't mess with road splits. Which might be problematic when dealing with Bonds getting extra games in Colorado. I adjust to average (numbers divided by like 1.02 or whatever) then to the park (times 1.03)
-
Al.. it's fun to use park factors to put Bonds in Coors. Hint.. Bonds in Coors = homers
-
You think Bernie could be 'fazed out' in 2004 and 2005? ya know the Yankees will buy out his contract after 2005
-
I don't think Bernie Williams really slugs enough to be a good DH. Giambi would be better off as a DH. As for the lineup. Lofton doesn't really seem like he'd be beneficial as a full-time player. Williams is on a slide down also.. Posada wouldn't be too bad as a leadoff hitter. He gets on base alot. Plus, speed isn't really beneficial when you're gonna be on base for Giambi and A-Rod.

The only places where chemistry is useful is pitcher/catcher and maybe with RBI situations or whatever. Not alot of things depend upon cooperation in baseball
-
batting order would apply if I was projecting RBIs. Soriano should be batting in the middle of the Ranger lineup anyways. As for the Yankee lineup.. how about this 1. Posada (.405 OBP baby!) 2. Jeter 3. Giambi (DH) 4. ARod 5. Sheffield 6. Matsui 7. Bernie Williams 8. Miguel Cairo 9. Travis Lee (1B) with Kenny Lofton as a left-handed pinch hitter/defensive replacement/pinch runner any thoughts?

and Soriano's 2003.. adjusted from the Bronx to Arlington add 18 runs, 15 hits, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 3 homers, 1 walk, his average goes up 17 points and take away one strikeout
-
Using park factors from the 2003 Bill James Handbook. I adjusted Arlington to the average, and then adjusted to Yankee Stadium.
-
Adjusting ARod's 2003 numbers from Arlington to the Bronx ARod loses 5 home runs, 14 hits, 17 runs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 walks and 17 points off of his batting average. He adds one strikeout.

Step #1.. establish common ground. By trying to make your new GM sound like a teenage boy. The virus being that they're in the second biggest market, yet.. they can't win. You ever heard of Branch Rickey and Allan Roth.. is 'Baseball writer' your first job Bill? And yet.. the Dodgers have not been in the playoffs for EIGHT YEARS. It appears that 'just scouting' and signing some guys can't do shit either Bill. At the very least, the A's have been in the playoffs for four straight years. Which is something the Dodgers can't claim. It appears what the Dodgers have couldn't get them to the show. Or Bill Plaschke. Yeah.. i'm sure youth stopped Theo Epstein from.. oh yeah.. Doesn't say much about your team, does it? Since a tour of Chavez Ravine is such a big factor of the job. Uh huh.. so? Fuck off.. Can't you handle.. maybe.. a few years of a smaller payroll.. since you'd be able to bare the brunt of keeping the young talent? The Dodger Organization could use a good dissection, it's not like it's really standing out as being great. Ask the Marlins and Angels. and whatever minor leaguers you have or draft will be able to stay in LA for the future. The Dodgers aren't going anywhere Bill. Don't worry about trying to get a new bat. Maybe there's a reason why people can't hit in Dodger Stadium. Oh.. park factors.. too advanced for you. And you can score more runs without definate power hitters. If you get on base often, you will score more often. "NOW NOW NOW WE WANT TO WIN NOW" Shut the fuck up.. is that how you Dodger fans handle stuff? by waving around a sense of 'entitlement'? Patience.. The world of stats and big money could be quite scary. Unless you're a Dodger fan who is into winning. Oh no.. the stopwatch people will be put out of business? Can we ask who goes out with the stopwatch to scout MAJOR LEAGUERS? Anybody? and lord knows.. you NEED a guy to limp out and hit a lucky home run off Dennis Eckersley! You'll jump on the bandwagon soon enough..

Jason Whitlock is a big fat moron

hey.. basic economics here with Pohlad and Glass. If you maintain a 100m+ payroll in a small market, even as a billionaire, you will lose money. Losing money for years = not good. Although Pohlad could sink his money into getting a real stadium for the Twins. Maddux as a Yankee, while god damn insane, doesn't really do much for me. Ya know why? No left-handed pitchers. Pitching wins titles. EOS. The last time the Yankees went without a left-handed starter: 1992 The Yankees weren't all that bad hitting wise.. with Mattingly and Tartabull. But.. their pitching was horrible. Scott Boras, Son of the Devil, you got any more people to bring to the Yankees?

Steinbrenner - "I hope we meet in the World Series" Hicks - "Thanks" Steinbrenner - "Oops.. I mean.. I hope we meet at the World Series. When the Yankees are playing"
-
So.. what will ARod's number be in NY? I guess they won't unretire #3 for him
-
yeah.. New Jersey is what I was aiming for there
-
yeah.. doesn't really do much for the East though. I'd also cut down on the two-month long playoffs in the NBA. Do they really need 16 out of 30 teams in the playoffs?
-
well.. the Blue Jays are in the American League. Right?
