  1. Actually, that's complete bullshit Tom Haller was an AL umpire Bill Haller played one year in the AL with the 1972 Tigers (who won the AL East that year, BTW) It's just poor planning to have such a conflict of interest. And trust me, being a Royals fan, it's easy to spot which umpires are total morons (Paul Emmel, Derryl Cousins, CB Bucknor, Gary Gibson, Jerry Layne, Rob Drake, Brian Runge) and which umpires are cool (Laz Diaz, Jim Joyce)
  2. So, is the power out in Flushing? will the Mets game be cancelled? (sorry, the Mets are the only team playing in an effected city)
  3. I'm going to be cheering for the Marlins, they seem to be another young team that is succeeding like the Royals are. Plus, they just won two games in a row on a HR. And Jack McKeon was a former Royals manager in the 70s. Go Marlins!
  4. First off, for the optimal box score stuff, go to http://www.retrosheet.org and they have alot of box scores. Just go from there. Now, here's my nominee May 2nd, 1988. Kingdome. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05020SEA1988.htm That's right, Cecil Fielder and Kelly Gruber proceeded to switch between second and third NINETEEN times in 8 innings. Notes from the PBP: 'Fielder reached on a fielder's choice' That's not the only time this occured.. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05050OAK1988.htm 5 switches in 2 innings As we can see here. The Fielder/Gruber shift was too effective and Jimy kept Cecil on the bench (or at DH) Jimy Williams also put Cecil Fielder in left field for 3 innings. It's a wonder that Cecil didn't murder or devour Williams before he went off to conquer Japan. (Off-topic question: Who is the Astro who is in the 'Cecil Fielder' role of the 'guy who Jimy won't use'?) Now, find your choice of weird box scores! Or at least something interesting
  5. So, is "Jose Guillen bat night" still on the schedule?
  6. Peter Ueberroth is a good pick as long as you're not a drug supplier for Doc Gooden
  7. That's not really something to brag about, Rob. I did some checking, and out of alot of the big name starters in the AL (Yankees fab-four, A's fab-three, Pedro), only one starter is undefeated against the D-Rays, and that's Mulder. No matter how bad the team is, beating them 8 times in a row in 8 games is a good sign. I checked and I think the record is 24 in a row, Christy Mathewson v. the Cardinals
  8. The Royals picked Kyle Snyder over Barry Zito one year. Phillies - JD Drew Todd Blackledge over Marino
  9. What if Flynt gets dirty on Arnold? will Arnold get the SYMPATHY from getting shit on by a pornographer?
  10. What's stopping Shaq from running?
  11. NoCalMike: Admit it, you're voting for Gallagher or Gary Coleman. When will MC Hammer file for this race?
  12. http://www.eastbayexpress.com/recall/index.html and from his plan ( http://www.eastbayexpress.com/issues/2003-...ml/1/index.html ) I respect the other candidates like Ahnuld and Gallagher, but I think it's time that the little people get somebody in office. Gary! because he's better than Gray!
  13. Kevin is starting on Friday in Tampa. Appier is 8-0 lifetime against the D-Rays in 8 starts. Also, if you check Appier's split stats on Yahoo, August is his best month. Hopefully he can keep that going. I wouldn't say Appier is washed up, if he's able to be a better pitcher than Kyle Snyder is right now, then that'd be fine. Plus, Appier is getting 90,000. Compared to the insane salary he got from the Mets, this is a good deal.
  14. More news.. Kevin Appier signed by Royals
  15. Good luck getting Gonzalez. You know that if you claim him, you pay his salary. Juan won't play in the following situations 1) Stadiums with Turf 2) NL Teams 3) Detroit
  16. The PCL is noted for it's inflated stats. It's hard to judge how good a hitter really is in that league. Last year, Crosby hit .260 in Las Vegas. Bubba, for approaching 27, might be good but Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City and other places are just launching pads Ask Isotopes star Rob Stratton, who has 30 HRs and 132 strikeouts
  17. Juan Gonzalez's shot of being claimed by the Royals on waivers is good. I think only the Brewers, D-Rays and Tigers can claim Gonzalez. But something has to happen so we don't pay him so damn much
  18. Al Levine to the Royals Bag of money with a dollar sign on it to the Devil Rays
  19. Trade rumor: Jeff Suppan and Brandon Lyon to the Red Sox Freddy Sanchez to the Pirates
  20. Would A-Rod mind playing in Miami? he did grow up there
  21. Non-Trade news: According to ESPN, Kevin Appier has been released by the Angels
  22. I'm sure putting Freddy "given up 21 HRs in 22 starts" Garcia in Fenway Park would be a smart move Like if you wanted all the fans in the monster seats to get a HR ball
  23. But, we can expect that the teachers would be given background checks to make sure they're not going to mess around with the students. No offense or anything, but that's a possibility. Will the Gay High School mix males and females in the classes or have a Gay Wing and a Lesbian Wing? The idea is just stupid anyways
  24. Now, if an all-straight school was opened, oh shit, that'd be trouble. But the school sounds like a stupid idea.
  25. Trade rumor: Jose Guillen to the Royals soon. But, Gammons said it.
