I would have to say either Chris Jericho or Kane. Chris Jericho could have been cemented as a main event guy and a top heel in the company during his Undisputed Title reign if he was booked better AND didn't have to play fetch with Stephanie and Lucy. Not to mention, his proposed match with RVD at Royal Rumble '02, which would have tested the waters for RVD in a main event, went out the window on the night HHH came back. Triple H made him seem like such a weak opponent and the Jericho vs. HHH was an afterthought as the focus was more HHH on Steph. Then, Jericho is put into a three way for said title against HHH and STEPH and isn't even the focus of THAT match. Jericho then went on to lose at EVERY PPV until Unforgiven, where he was defending the IC Title...the same title that HHH had killed because he felt it was beneath him. Kane...well, everyone knows about Katie Vick. Dames

Wow, You really think that? I think SD will do WORSE in PPV. Same here. SD's lack of bankable stars and HORRIBLE choices of main events are going to KILL them. In all fairness, if the Split PPV's started around October or so, then I would have definitely agreed with my previous statement 100%. However, you guys are right about SD!'s current status. With that being said, even without the great wrestling and Smackdown Six matches we were getting then, Angle, Brock, Benoit, Guerrero's, Rey, Matt Hardy, Hogan and Undertaker would most likely get more buyrates than the Klique and Goldberg right now, I'd hope. Smackdown needs main event heels...that's they're biggest void, in my opinion. Dames

I can't wait until the split PPV's.... JUST so Vince can realize what is wrong with the Raw brand when it pulls in about 500,000 buys less than the Smackdown brand. Dames

Personally, I would do Hogan vs. Austin at WM XX. It would be the star of the first half of WM vs. the star for the second half. The two biggest draws ever where it all started to prove who's better. The match wouldn't exactly be a ***** classic due to Austin's limitations, but it wouldn't be a high impact encounter like his match with The Rock, so Austin should be well protected. Dames

During the days of the NWO in WCW, Hogan faced Benoit in tag matches against the Horsemen. Sadly, Hogan used his political pull and told Benoit that he refused to take any of his chops according to internet lore. Dames

My guess is this... Hogan just wants to beat Piper to say that he finally did pin the man. Piper will one day say that HULK HOGAN didn't beat Piper, Mr. America did, continuing that feud until they're feuding over graveyard space. Dames

The ratings are for the network. The purpose of ratings is for the networks to show the advertisers and say "Hey! People watch THIS show and it has high interest. Therefore, if you buy commercial time during this broadcast, your product will get more exposure!" That's why all of the new commercials come out during the Super Bowl. They know that its the highest rated sports game of the year and that people are watching. In terms of the WWE, the ratings are to prove to the networks that Wrestling is IN and therefore, can do whatever they want on their shows and possibly get better deals come negotiation time. Dames

You're kidding right? The ratings were CONSTANTLY in the 6's and 7's, miles above the 3's and 4's they're getting now, regardless of what they put out. If the greatest Raw of all time occurred this Monday, it would still only get a mid 4 at most because people aren't interested. The ratings is simply a gauge of who is interested enough to follow the product. Here's another example. Raw one week advertises Goldberg vs. HHH on Raw for the World Title and everyone watches. Let's say it does a 5.0 rating. BUT, the entire show sucked and that match ended up being terrible and had no real finish. Some of those fans are going to be so turned off, they won't come back next week. So, hypothetically again, lets say that the following week, they put on a Blockbuster Raw. Because people were so pissed off about last week, they didn't tune in this week and the rating went to a 4.2. Good Raws don't necessarily mean Good Ratings. Dames

Johnson, stop being closed minded for a second. There's a reason why TV Guide annually puts out a story called "The Best TV Show You're Not Watching". Not everyone watches good shows. Some good shows are actually canceled by good ratings. Now think about it. If 7 million people watched Raw EVERY WEEK in 98-99 and then one week, they put on GARBAGE. Guess what...those 7 million people still SAW IT, therefore, the rating is high. That doesn't mean it was good though. If that was the case, the ratings back then would have fluctuated up and down every week. Dames

My bad...I completely disregarded the fact that Flair/Hurricane (the best match of the night, IMO) was in that same quarter hour. Dames

Johnson, look at the quarter hours. The highest rated quarter hour didn't feature Austin at all. I enjoyed the This is Your Life segment, yes. And it IS the highest rating Raw segment ever. HOWEVER, back then, they could have put on absolute SHIT and people would have watched it because tons of people were into wrestling then. High ratings ONLY mean high interest. Dames

Yes, Bob is right. Wrestling fans don't exactly tune in or out all of the time, they do it in patterns. In '98-99, some Raws were downright shitty, but because the fanbase was there, the ratings were high. Lately, the fanbase has left due to a lack of interest in the product because overall, there's nothing to keep them there. Obviously, due to those numbers, Goldberg & Christian's cage match attracted fans to watch the product, but then they LEFT. That doesn't mean it was a good Raw. It just means people wanted to see the cage match. Dames

Well, I'm sure he meant TNA & WWE and possibly Ring of Honor. Other than a handful of smarks and guys in Florida, not too many people have ever heard of MLW. Dames

Sonny and Young have teamed up twice in the last two weeks. I, however, voted for AJ & Lynn. TNA really blew their Dream Team wad by putting them together in the 3rd show, IMO. Much more deserving of the title of Dream Team than Lynn and Red. Dames

You know what...I wouldn't even consider Chris Benoit a mainstream WWE star, which is sad. He hasn't built up a legacy, like The Undertaker or Shawn Michaels. He's never won the WWE Title, although he has come very close and has never been given the #1 babyface or heel slot in the company ever. He would be seen just like everyone else that left the WWE by marks, in my opinion. I wish I was wrong, but until WWE pushes Benoit like a star, he won't be seen as one. Dames

The way I see it is this and I've stated this before in the GameCube thread. Before I state my opinion, let me just clarify that I in no way believe that the graphics on GameCube OR PS2 outmatch the XBox. I wouldn't get an Xbox because every EXCLUSIVE game that I want is available for another system or the PC. Yes, Halo is going to be out for the PC later on in the year and that was the only thing I wanted an XBox for, besides Splinter Cell, also coming out for the PC. Seeing as how a PC is only as good as its video card in terms of gaming, Halo will look just as good if not better with a new video card. I wouldn't purchase a PS2 over the GTA series because once again, GTA 3 & GTA:VC are available for the PC, with improved graphics, an mp3 radio station and customizable character skins. The same goes for Max Payne. If you complain about the controls, get a PS2 controller adapter if it means that much to you. A GameCube on the other hand has more exclusive titles that are worth getting as well as popular games available on the other two systems. Metroid Prime, Zelda, Mario, The Resident Evil Series and more. That's why I chose a Game Cube. I've got a DVD player and a DVD drive on my computer...no need to get a PS2 or Xbox for that. Dames
