I don't think any rational person has a problem with allowing Palestinians to form their own self government, but it's obviously so much more difficult than just letting it be. You can't encourage violence, because if they get what they want through violence, well then what's stopping them in the future from using more to achieve means. And furthermore, the last thing Israel needs is another hostile, autocratic, racist regime right next store to them. President Bush had the right idea when he supported a FREE, DEMOCRATIC Palestinian state achieved through diplomatic means after a period of non-violence. But it's just not happening...
-
Oh, I agree cerbus, Israel is walking on proverbial eggshells with this, but still I don't think things will get any better with Arafat out of the picture, since he's been nothing more than a figurehead for a long time now anyway...
-
Disagreed. For lack of a better example, if New Mexico with the aid of most of South America did half the shit to us that Israel has had to deal with, the entire SouthEast would be a crater.
-
Arafat is scum, but he hasn't had much power lately anyway and those are who are taking over leadership are even more extreme and violent in their leadership. I guess it's would you rather have an enemy that admits they have no use for peace or an enemy that lies to your face about it?
-
Exactly. Unfortunately the Arab World is not conductive to this happening. Hell, the other countries egg Palestinians on like the cool kids in school laughing at the guy in class who just wants to be cool and accepted. The "political cartoons" I saw at the ADL's website that actually appear in major Arab newspapers daily, that amount to nothing more that incredibly offensive Jewish stereotypes, are appaling and just a michrocasm of how that part of the world is thinking, and why Peace under current attitudes is not possible. It's like we can't even comprehend it here in America, because if someone says or writes anything that could even be possibly construed as offensive let alone racist, there is a great outcry and condemnation. In that part of the world it's status quo. I would love nothing more for everyone to just get along, but time and time again one side has proven it is unable to change with the times and we're in the worldwide mess we find outselves in. Israel has the patience of a saint dealing with all the shit it has to deal with. I could post a daily Arab anti-semetic cartoon of the day to really drive home the point, but hopefully it won't be needed.

I've never seen Dinsmore before, but just watching those brief clips, he looks incredibly crisp in the ring which is a nice departure from these immobile lugs they keep calling up. Here's hoping WWE allows him to go all out in his matches. A savant with a special talent for wrestling could be really good, and continue to be entertaining without becoming offensive if they produce more hokey segments like the one on RAW.

Of course every Palestinian isn't scum. Unfortunately though, the good majority of their leadership is incredibly anti-semetic and they indoctinate that same culture of hate and violence into their children who continue the cycle. As Mike might have been alluding to, much of the German youth was lied to and manipulated as well, but never the less they were still Nazis. The lack of anyone from the Arab World speaking out and condemning these actions without using it as another excuse to blast Israel and its existence just perpetuates their own self fulfilling prophecies. If the Palestinian people want respect, they need to earn it. Considering one side is a democracy allowing all religions to be practiced freely, freedom of speech, et. al and the other indoctinates racist and violent attitudes, I can't in good conscience equate the two.
-
Yeah, I would've doubted the Final Solution, given that it condemned an entire race of people. Semantics, sport. WHOOOSH~!!!!

You see those little numbers that appear after some sentences? Those are footnotes, it's hard for me to copy and paste the foot notes without screwing up formatting so, if you're not satisfied, you can go to the link and stop finding reasons to whine... sheesh...

For god's sake, I only post it in every thread demonizing Israel, and considering I posted it earlier in THIS VERY THREAD, I thought I would avoid redudancy, but I guess redudancy is neccesarry to counter-act idiocy. For those not paying attention... The above is a double Israel Myth and Fact of The Day from from http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mftoc.html, your best source for counteracting erroneous and untrue myths discrediting Israel.

BULL FUCKING SHIT. One side wants to destroy a race of people and targets innocents to do so, the other just wants to be left alone and allowed to live their lives. Get a grip. Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc really aren't the whole of the Palestinian people. No, YOU get a grip and stop justifying terrorism and genocide with lies just because it makes you feel warm and fuzzy to try to be "fair" to both sides and ignore that there IS a clear right and wrong side here. or... and...

BULL FUCKING SHIT. One side wants to destroy a race of people and targets innocents to do so, the other just wants to be left alone and allowed to live their lives. I don't even know where to begin when it comes posting a http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mftoc.html Myth and Fact but I'll pull out a few that I think prove there ARE good guys and bad guys here. On the other hand...

My god, that is sickening...all because they were Jewish...a pregnant woman and little girls...fucking racist scum of the earth cowards. There probably was a parade in Gaza city, with some asshole blaming Israel for bringing it upon themselves... Moral equivalency my ass.

My friends at college all seem to be talking about rumors of the draft returning sometime in the next year or 2, citing the recent filling of draft boards and the need for more soldiers not just in Iraq but for the future of the War on Terror. The interesting thing is they insist that it doesn't matter if Bush or Kerry is president, and that it's a bi-partisan plan being kept quiet until after the election, so it doesn't sound like just liberal Bush bashing. They further say that women would also be drafted and that college would no longer be an exception, and you'd only be able to delay service until the end of the current semester, or year if you are a senior. I really can't find much except message board chatter online and a few articles here and there reporting on the filling of the draft boards in possible preparation for a draft. Needless to say, it's somewhat worrying, and although overall I don't buy it, others think differently. So, is this just an erroneous rumor, or is there a very real possibility? EDIT: Again, since it's just a rumor it's not like I could post a "legitimate" article, so keep in mind this is from an indymedia sight, and obviously biased, but sums up most of the chatter I've seen:

05.01.04 | "From The Inside" with Jeremy Borash The views expressed in the following article do not necessarily reflect the views of TNA Entertainment, its employees, or its parent company. Although it often fails at doing so, it is meant for the sole purpose of entertaining the readers on NWATNA.com, and the author's minimalistic group of friendly professional acquaintances. Greetings once again. Writing this somewhere over Little Rock en route to LA for the weekend. In my WCW years, I lived on the road with my laptop. These days, it's all about the T-Mobile Sidekick. It looks like a tiny laptop that doubles as a phone. I completely recommend them for anyone on the go that relies on the net to communicate. Jeff Jarrett and D-Lo Brown both have them as well. It also slices, dices, and makes delicious julian fries. Wednesday night featured the first title defense of Styles World Title era V.2, with a controversial win over Ron Killings. This week, AJ is wasting no time defending his World Title as he takes on Raven. AJ and Raven have had some incredible matches in the past, and will tear the house down this Wednesday. In a "wish I would have had a video camera to recorded her reaction" moment, I brought Desire into my editing area at the Asylum to view the video package of her breaking her back Wednesday before the show. She had never seen the footage before. It was a pretty emotional moment, and one I'm not sure I'll ever forget. I'm not sure I can put into words how impactful this whole experience was to her, so I knew this was going to be heavy, but in a good way. She has recovered and I've always felt that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and she is a great example. We watched it once, then again, and a few more times. She still has some occasional tightness on the impact point on her back, but otherwise has made a full recovery. Don't ever take for granted what the amazing athletes in this profession do out there to entertain you. This can be a very dangerous sport. Also don't ever forget about the work of the ring announcers as well, as they provide some of the best brewed coffee to their superiors in the biz. The Truth has really picked up momentum as far as popularity with the fans. Speaking of which... An update on the fan dynamic at the world famous TNA Asylum... I'm proud to announce that the TNA's "heel section" is dead (They are not actually dead... I don't believe... although I can't say for sure... we haven't seen them around much... if by chance they are indeed dead... they will be missed...) Instead, they have been replaced by a much funnier, much more original group of fans. The talent seems to like them too and is often seen mingling at post show get togethers. In an informal poll... these fans are most supportive of Ron Killings, and enjoy heckling Frankie Kazarian the most. The group seems to be lead by popular local radio personality "Doogie" of Nashville's 102.9 the Buzz, although he could not be reached for comment. Irish Pat Kenney is a very successful semi-professional ball player on the weekends. Glenn Gilberti, who is a semi-professional jackass the entire week, was heard taunting Kenney because he struck out twice in the same game last Sunday... nevermind that Kenney is considered one of the top three players in the entire league. We'll keep you posted on Kenney's progress, as well as the vast topics we will be relentlessly taunting Gilberti about. By the way, Gilberti's new TNA trading card is the only one that drops in value if he personally autographs it. Scott Hudson may be the luckiest man alive after hearing his first hand account of his car accident. His car was on the losing end of a squash match with an 18 wheeler, yet he came out without a only a few bumps and bruises. The man upstairs was definitely looking out for him. Met a few cast members out on the town earlier this week from the Real World San Diego. With the exception of Jonny Fairplay who was born to be in the spotlight, most reality show stars I've met are dolts. It really has bred a new kind of celebrity. My reality show idea is to have cameras follow around the Big Bossman and his family, and call it "Everybody Loves Raymond Trailor." A loaded lineup this Wednesday night, with Abyss taking on the returning Erik Watts, The first best of 3 between Sonjay Dutt and Amazing Red, Trinity vs. Desire, Team Canada vs. Team NWA, and Styles vs. Raven for the NWA World Championship. Have a great weekend and we will see you back this Wednesday night on PPV! Jeremy Borash

Things have a way of working themselves out, don't they? -
Is WOL working for anybody? I can't seem to connect. Anyone else having a problem? EDIT: 15 minutes in, I finally got it to work. Dave sounds like he's talking through a horn though...

Move Tazz to RAW, dump Lawler and put Angle on color on Smackdown. Now you're talking.

Yes. The man already has one finger paralyzed, he expiriences chronic numbness down both his arms, and will end up with at least 4 neck surgeries, that's insane. Kurt wants to get back in there for the fans, but he needs to realize we care too much about him as a person to watch him literally deterioate for our pleasure. He had a great run. Short? In some ways, but compare to say a football player 5 years before having to retire do to injury isn't unheard of. He has a full collection of great matches that he can be proud of, he's won numerous titles, including 5 World Titles, and that's not even touching his "real life" accomplishments of winning an Olympic Gold Medal with a broken freakin neck. Someone needs to sit down with Kurt, preferably Vince and let him know it's in his best interest just to have the full blown neck surgery. He will feel better and have a better quality of life, and should be offered both a continuing on air prescence as a manager/GM character and afterwards a lifetime spot backstage as an agent/office member. Heck, if he really wants to think optimistcally he could look at Shawn Michaels who had to retire at the same age from a similar crippling injury, and after 4 years of healing and rehabilitation is now back and putting on his greatest matches ever. Maybe, there would be hope for Kurt under similar circumstances. But another of the quickie surgeries and a return in under 3 months?! Fuck no. Kurt, please do what's best for you, your family and ultimately your fans. Get the fusion surgery, feel better, be able to play with your kids and continue entertaining us without hurting yourself. And maybe, in a few years, if that competitive itch is still there, you too can make a comeback once you are fully healed. I wish there was some way I could send that to him, and like have all of us sign it, I really do...
