Let's just annex a large chunk of land, declare it Kurdistan, help them set up a democracy, and leave the rest of Iraq and just say "fuck 'em". Then again, I guess Iraq would just attack Kurdistan...again...and we'd have to go back and help them...again...fuck this nation building thing is hard...

Well, thanks for the reminder. I'll set a tape. 99% sure this will be completely worthless but it seems like whenever WWE first debuts a new weekend recap/variety show (Excess, Livewire, Confidential, etc.) it's at least interesting at first. If it's worthless I'll never think about it again.

If that was directed towards not voting for Bush, you obviously missed the part about it not mattering who is president, that's what's so troubling. If anything Kerry as president would make a draft MORE likely since his plan is to increase the number of troops in Iraq (by 40,000 I believe), and the senators who are proposing the current bills to reinstate the draft are both Democrats and in general Democrats are the ones who grumble about bringing back the draft since they see the volunteer service as unfair to the lower class who they believe inproportionatly make up the army. Then again Bush is obviously more of a warhawk and would be the more likely of the 2 to extend the war on more fronts. So, that's the thing, it doesn't seem to matter who's the President if you believe the rumors, since this is in the works on both sides in Congress anyway, but again that article I posted is reassuring in its logic.

For 15 dollars for the whole season, you get online access to live radio feeds for all the teams, and acess to archives of past games. So, you can choose to listen to your local radio broadcast, or the opposing team's if you like, for all games. Arguments about how radio stations should be allowed to stream online for free aside, it's a good deal, and well worth it if you can't pick up your team's broadcast on your reciever. I'm in an akward situation, as at school, my cable doesn't cover the O's (just Phillies), but this "zone" is considered a Baltimore zone as well (I guess the cable system outside of the school does cover the O's), so I found out live O's games are blacked out. The only reason I bought it. Goodie. But, on the bright side, after the games end the archives for all games are able to be viewed, so it's just a matter of avoiding the score, and later that night or the next day watching the replay of the game (and skipping commercials!) or listening live to the radio feed, and then skimming through video highlights. Ponson pitching to Javy Lopez, he looks fine. Now 2 straight games pitching to Keith Osik, he has 2 horrible starts. Now that Javy apparently has a strained oblique, this could be a real problem. Besides possibly losing our best hitter, Osik obviously brings out the worst in our pitchers and might be the worst "hitter" in baseball. Oh, his supposedly good defense has allowed 3 passed balls in 2 games...

O's have money to spend, and could use a real ace....

O's up 4-0 in the 4th. Last inning, Tejada singled in Roberts, then Palmeiro singled in Mora, then Lopez RBIed (on an error to 3rd) in Tejada and Surhoff sac flied in Palmeiro. Now that's produtive. Brian Roberts is 3-3 and Dubose is starting and just crusing along here... EDIT: 4-2 now as 2 Mariners score on groundouts.

O's snap their 3 game losing streak, as the pitching returned to form, with 5 solid innings from Ainsworth, 3 hitless from Parrish and 1 hitless from Julio. 3-1 over Mariners. They play Seattle again today at 3, so I guess I'll listen to the radio webcast instead of my usual habit of waiting for the game to be avaliable in the video archive...

That they're still in business all things considered would say probably not...

I'm incredibly ignorant of how these laws work, but it mentioned eBay, does that mean that selling used WWF/WCW videos on eBay will no longer be allowed? (I'm talking the official ones with the boxes, not self made ones...)

So...for those that actually saw the show, thoughts? I skimmed through the results and it doesn't sound too hot. Is it worth getting a replay? Keep in mind my not ordering is not an indictment of the product but more legistics of my own situation. I'm at school with no PPV, so I either need to have it ordered and then sent by tape and watch a few days later, which is a hassle unless it's for a major show (I'm still waiting for Pride to get here!), or wait until I'm home for a weekend, which I won't be for a couple weeks. I probably would have ordered the show, coming off a hot last week. Anyway, thoughts?

Full article: Hamas Leader Killed in Israeli Airstrike Saturday, April 17, 2004 GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — An Israeli missile strike killed Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi (search) as he rode in his car Saturday evening, hospital officials said. Rantisi's son Mohammed and a bodyguard were also killed in the attack. The militant Hamas leader was one of Israel's top targets after it assassinated Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin (search) in an airstrike last month. Rantisi's car was hit with missiles Saturday evening on the road outside his home, leaving only the burned, destroyed vehicle. After the explosion, Israeli helicopters were heard in the area. Rantisi was taken to the hospital in critical condition, his body pocked with bloody wounds and blood streaming from his head and neck. He was taken to emergency surgery but died five minutes after arriving at the hospital. Palestinian officials lashed the Israeli strike. "We condemn in strongest possible terms this Israeli crime of assassinating Dr. Rantisi. This is state terror, and the Israeli government is fully responsible for the consequences of this action," Palestinian Cabinet minister Saeb Erekat (search) said. Witnesses said there were three people in the car at the time of the explosion. Five pedestrians were also wounded, hospital officials said. The dead included Akram Nassar, 35, Rantisi's personal bodyguard and his son Mohammed, 27, hospital officials said. Rantisi's wife was in the car, but her condition and location was not known, hospital sources and Hamas said. About 2,000 angry Palestinians marched through the streets carrying pieces of Rantisi's car shouting, "revenge, revenge." "We are not going to give up."
