MORE ON LESNAR LEAVING AND WHAT IT MEANS TO HIS MANIA MATCH WITH GOLDBERG by Dave Scherer @ 1:52:32 PM on 3/10/2004 We have some items to follow-up on concerning the Brock Lesnar leaving WWE story. First and foremost, I have gotten some email from people asking me if I think that Brock and Vince McMahon are working an angle on the boys and the internet. Nothing in this business would surprise me, but in talking to a number of people in WWE, no one seemed to be thinking that way. Four people I talked to, that work for the company, said that they hadn’t even considered that it could be a work. They all agreed that if it were a case of those two working the boys, it would cause irreparable damage between the boys and Lesnar/McMahon. Plus, there is nothing to gain from it and Brock has been legitimately miserable of late. Therefore, no one thinks Vince would be stupid enough to do that. I also heard that Brock told the wrestlers that the business had taken its toll on him and that he wanted to be able to walk when he is forty. That struck a lot of people as odd since he’s only been in a few years and is only 26. I have also talked to a number of people in the company who think that Brock is insane to think that he can go from being a non-football player to trying out for an NFL team. To say people are stunned at his career choice would be an understatement. One of the big questions in the locker room is how this will affect Sable, since she is Brock’s significant other. The running joke backstage was Brock would only be allowed to play for a team that allowed Sable to be a cheerleader. Sable was said to be not at all happy backstage yesterday, but not just due to Brock’s announcement. I will have more on that story later today. From what I have heard, WWE is meeting today to discuss what to do with the Lesnar-Goldberg match. Obviously, with both men leaving after WrestleMania, it puts them in something of a quandary as to how to book the bout. What actually makes the most sense is to put over the non-wrestler in the match, Steve Austin, as the star. Sure, he doesn’t wrestle but at least he will be there next week.

ok that there destroyed any minute credibility that dirtsheet had with me, and this story as well. Sable and Brock? Surely a lie. Actually I remember hearing that they were romatically linked a while back. This is just very depresseing news. It's almost eerily similar to the Steve Austin situation from 2 years ago. You got to wonder if there's more to this than meets the eye. At the time Austin walked out for basically the same reasons but actually was dealing with his rapidly deterioating neck and the end of his career which he couldn't deal with to make public. I wonder if Brock is just broken down but doesn't want to admit it. I'm really hoping Brock takes a few months to cool off, think about his situation and come back. It will be just like Austin I think where they bury him on TV and run a Confidential piece about how unprofessional he was, before coming back soon enough. Oh and if this means more leverage to resign Goldberg, good. I really think the WWE would be dropping the boat by not bringing back Goldberg who IS over with the crowd and could create many hot programs on Smackdown with the likes of Undertakes, Angle, Eddie, etc. Is this the new trend where after Wrestlemania someone is gone forever?! 18: Austin 19: Angle 20: Brock
  12. Good. Now let's try that little bastard Malvo for another murder and sentence him to hell too.

This means their match will likely only last 5 minutes, which judging by their test runs, is fine with me.

So how are you going to see WM20?

Well, I'm stuck here at college with no PPV so I rely on the webcast to see PPVs. Some of you are making me very nervous. How early is the webcast put up for ordering? Has there been any confirmation that there won't be a webcast? I really want to see this show...

    Bret Hart's Mania Memories

SK's rant correctly points out the 9 second SD Jones squash is kayfabed and the real time is clearly 23 seconds. As noted, Im sure Bret meant up until that point it was the fastest PPV pin. (EDIT: seems as I was typing this 2 or 3 posters above me point out the same thing!) As for the "co-main event" comment it's really semantics. At the time the Intercontinental title was treated as a big deal so any title match would rightfully be considered a "main event" match up. Hell, last year's Wresltemania had up to 5 main events depending on how you looked at it. It's all in perception, WCW had a Wall vs. Demon match billed a "special main event" as part of a contract clause

    Ashcroft hospitalized

Does this same rule apply to HHH, Batista, and Orton? Just curious, because I would HATE to see a double standard on this message board Since when has anyone wishes death upon HHH, Batista or Orton!? If they have they're cold hearted morons with no perception of reality. And I don't know why you're directing it at me, because I have never wished death upon anybody so stop trying to divert the subject because it's a non sequitor...

    Howard Stern says anti-Bush comments...

To NY: Thank you for the civilized discussion. Just to clarify I wasn't calling Howard a nut, I was explaining why it is neccesarry to have an FCC so "every nut" who wanted to couldn't just start broadcasting. I don't listen to him, so I don't know first hand what the exact conversation was but from earlier posts in this thread and from talking to others it sounds like he was explicitly describing sex with Paris Hilton's boyfriend. The "n****r sex" comment comes from earlier in the thread, and if its true I don't see how anyone could defend it. I know he didn't say it but he should have some responsibility to cut the guy off. I saw the article, but I don't think anything will come of it. As the article clearly states, cable has the law on its side. The FCC has no juristiction over non public domain, which includes cable. As for cpac, I tried to be civil, you missed every point I tried to make, resort to flaming and obviously aren't worth the time.

    Howard Stern says anti-Bush comments...

Ok, Im studying Communication so I think I know a little more about the situation than you do. Cable and Premium services are not regulated because they are NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN. And even it appears you can't be more than 12 years old, I'm going to ask you to stop making offensive and just plain wrong comparisons that belittle real autoricties and slander our country.
  25. Styles

    Howard Stern says anti-Bush comments...

    A) Yes they should because the radio waves are public domain, and they must be regulated to avoid clutter with every nut who wants to creating noise by broadcasting from their own equipment. The FCC does not cencor but it does explicitly state fines will be levied for use of obscene words. I don't think there's any question the conversation was obscene. B) They won't go after South Park or any other cable program because it is NOT PUBLIC DOMAIN. Cable is indebted to their advertisers and nothing more, while HBO are indebted only to their subscribers. If Howard wants to move to Satellite radio or make his show exclusive to E! he is welcome to. C) Parenting plays a role, but unlike cable where parents have the choice of what is entering their TVs, or shows on at night, they can't be there every second of the morning to make sure their kid doesn't simply turn a radio dial that likely every kid has in his or her room and hear Howard Stern talk about "n****r sex". D)Again, I am not the least bit religious and I agree that such obscene material should not be avaliable over the public airwaves at 7 am when children can easily access it. E) Your reference to Nazi Germany is another in a long line of utter fucking morons that attempt to take the greatest autocity of our modern time and belittle it by making undo comparisons. You've offended me and I'm sure many others. Do you know anything about Nazi Germany? Did you have family that lived (or more likely didn't live) through it? Fuck you.
