    News on SD! Friday debut...

It's already getting pre-empted in most major markets anyway so hardly anyone will notice. This all greatly amuses me...
  2. This might be the most unprofessional thing I've ever heard of and it's not just because I'm a Maiden fan. I wonder if a lawsuit will be filed (for endangering the band and the crowd). From Blabbermouth.net:
  3. Come on, Ripper! Moral equivalency and being non judgemental means Hitler and MLK are in the same moral plane! It's fun for everybody! MLK dedicated his life to overcoming racism and bringing people together, but he might have plagerised some speeches, and Hitler might have committed his life to the genocide of innocent people and orchestrated the biggest war in the world's history but he appreciated good art! It's all the same!
  4. Considering this website also contains an essay by David Duke (and has his book on the "reccomended reading" list for MLK) with the introduction: and contains absolutely nothing but negativity towards King, Jews and the Civil Rights movement, this website can be dismissed as racist propganda and is just as bad as when Kamui posted an essay on the bombing of Japan from a neo-Nazi website. Seriously, King wasn't a saint but you need to always consider your sources in context.

The death before fucking dishonour is a direct quote from Bruce at the show that captions the picture.

Spike begins the push for Impact

ECW was essentially an infomerical as they were buying the time to appear on the network and in charge of their own advertising (same arrangment TNA had with FSN), thus TNN had no obligation from a financial standpoint to promote them. TNA, in what will end up as a major victory for them, got Spike to agree to sell all the advertising time. Which means TNA is regular programming on Spike (they aren't paying for the time) and since Spike is in charge of selling the ad time, they have a financial stake in the show's success and will thus promote it. Big deal for TNA.
  9. -I read it directly in this week's Observer. As mentioned, Killings and Jarrett have a history of joking around with each other and calling each other things like that, but apparently in the heat of the argument it wasn't taken as a joke. -I really don't want the 3LK broken up. -If they are, Homicide totally needs to replace BG and maybe turn the 3 heel. I have been craving a heel Homicide vs. face Raven feud for a while. That would kick ass.
  10. 1. The 6 sided ring differentiates them from WWE and "traditional" wrestling. It makes them unique, is an attention grabber, and something to market themselves with (ala UFC's Octagon) whether you personally like it or not. You get used to it after watching a second time anyway. 2. TNA's contract with Spike begins in October, at which point RAW will no longer be on the network. UFC's contract has them airing after RAW until it moves off the network at which point both shows go to Saturday night as part of a block of programming. Come on, you know they can't just kick off UFC abruptly and it would be foolish to throw TNA out there without any advertising. I, though, have thought it would be a great idea for the first iMPACT! to air either right after the final RAW or in the RAW timeslot the following week, but it doesn't look like that will happen. 3. We've been through the name discussion before. It's not great by any means, but it's already been established to an extent. All their merchandising, logos, trademarks, etc. bear "TNA". They can't change it now. They want to move away from the NWA since they want to be their own entity. If they use "NWA" not only does it make them sound dated and irrelevant (which is exactly what they want to avoid) but it also beholds them to the NWA board in terms of licensing, etc. They use the titles since they have some respect and lineage amongst wrestling fans. Otherwise, they are their own company.
  11. I marked out big time. I wasn't even watching the TV and I heard "like wrestling?", turned and saw it was a TNA on Spike commercial and I felt really good about it. ECW's problem and the problem with TNA on FSN (well besides the awful timeslot) was no advertising. Now that Spike is in charge of the ad revenue, they have a share in the show doing well and it forces them to advertise it. This is exactly what they need to be doing in the final month RAW is on TNN. I think they should have another commercial ready to go briefly showing the difference between their product and WWE's (something like, "tired of the same boring wrestling show?" with a couple guys doing very basic spots), and then show some rapid fire clips of the X division with Mike Tenay and Don West commentarry clips screaming and then end with the graphic that says coming to SpikeTV in October with audio in the background of the iMPACT! zone fans chanting "TNA" or "This is awesome". Good times are about to be here again.

This will all be very useful if there's a lawsuit:

Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker

Haven't watched this DVD yet but I do remember on some other DVDs this occurence. I believe it's them re-editing it like zooming in to avoid showing the WWF logos on the side of the ring and such, which I guess would be an alternative to blurring.

    BEST SUBMISSION?

Matt Hughes armbar out of now where on George St. Pierre with 1 second left in the round at UFC 50. I was there live and the crowd pop was insane. St. Pierre on top working the kimura, 4...3....Hughes gains control....2.....armbar.....1....tapout....huge pop.

But even beyond that, it's not like this was a random act. He's been doing that as part of Maiden's stage show during the Trooper (a song about the Crimean war and the BRITISH fighting the Russians) for YEARS. Anyway, this is an awesome strategic move that had to drive Sharon nuts:

It has nothing to do with anything. It's a straw man Sharon is trying to build up hoping that the general public is too stupid to know any better.

    PRIDE - Final Conflict

I'm so stacked, I'll likely be avoiding most sites that cover MMA for a few days since in perfect timing I'm going back to college on Sunday (no PPV) so will be ordering and taping the show at home and having it sent by mail. Picks: Werdum Vovchanchyn Yoshida Silva Shogun Silva Fedor

Sharon's official response. EVEN if she is correct and Bruce's WORDS were unprofessional, her ACTIONS were way more unprofessional. If she had a problem with the things he was saying she should have confronted him about it in private. Endangering the band and the fans by throwing things and cutting the power during songs ripping off the paying customers are the ultimate in unprofesionalism. Even if Bruce was acting like a dick, this was not the way to handle it.

I'm guessing name value. Which doesn't make sense at all since Anthrax offered to play Ozzfest for Free, and Anthrax has just as much name value and a more loyal following. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait, what? I know Anhthrax was in negotiations but the story I heard is that they didn't think they were offered enough to do it. Why the hell would they play for free?

I've never even HEARD of OTEP but I've read that Sharon Osbourne discovered them, so that should tell you where their loyalties lie. Everything he or she or whatever said was bullshit too. I've never heard a more incredible straw man argument than the British flag deal, and from someone who was AT an Ozzfest show, I can say that when Bruce waved the British flag it got one of the biggest positive reactions of the show (including from this (not so drunk) Bush supporter). I also downloaded the show finally to my iPOD and this is amazing stuff. I have so much respect for the band I already love for playing through this shit for the fans. At key moments during Phantom, Run to the hills, and Hallowed the power just SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. And the song dies, so they just don't miss a beat and start playing the next song. Extremely professional. The lowest of low was at the end not even second after the last note is played while Bruce is trying to thank the fans and the band take a bow, he is completely drowned out by that fucking moron shouting OZZY, OZZY over the loudspeaker. It was absolutely disgraceful. Bruce is able to sqeak out "I've had enough of this bullshit, to the fans thank you and and have a good night". I was really happy to hear Sharon being drowned out and chased off the stage by MAIDEN chants.

Sharon Osbourne sabotages Iron Maiden, cuts power

A couple of notes, the reason Bruce waves a British flag is because the song, The Trooper is about THE BRITISH ARMY fighting the Russians. Goodness, I'm sure she knew that but was hoping the fans would be too stupid to realise it. It has nothing to do with Iraq. Second I'm REALLY disappointed to hear about Bury Your Dead participatying in this. I had no heard of basically any of the 2nd stage bands when I went in Virginia and I thought BYD had good energy and after the set the lead singer took time to shake hands and chat with everyone up front (I was up on the rail) which I thought was really cool. I shook his hand and told him, he got a new fan and he seemed appreciative and sincere in thanking me by saying "that means a lot". Well for this shit, I'm not giving them the time of day for disgracing one of metal's most legendary bands.
