    Chicago gets Wrestlemania 22

It's a shame they won't try Wrestlemania in an outdoor stadium, because of weather concerns considering they could host it at a retractable roofed stadium and have it closed in 5 minutes. It creates such a nice atmosphere. Of course that's probably an excuse because they don't think they can fill a stadium anymore, even for Wrestlemania which is a shame...

    Chris Webber traded to Philadelphia

Not much to add but this certainly came out of left field. In the weak Atlantic division, Philadelphia should pull away with the division with 2 all star caliber players in Webber and Iverson. And if the Peja trade is true, what's the deal with Sacramento dismantling their team?

    The NWA in WWF, 1997...

I think it was actually all a rib on Cornette, and if I recall he hated it. I'm sure he talks about it in one of his many shoot interviews out there...

    Chicago gets Wrestlemania 22

I would say "Bring it to DC" but we're getting Summerslam, so no worries. The real question, is will this man be there for a live "Good Times, Great Memories"?

He also makes a ton of money off his subscriptions. He has no staff to pay, and he can write off paper, ink and even wrestling PPVs as business expenses. He's pretty much the only guy the mainstream news goes to when they want to interview a "wrestling journalist". Are you a subscriber RRR? I am, and I get the impression that when wrestling is good, Meltzer writes really positively on it and when it's bad he takes it to task. He always focuses on whats good for business though, and covers things from that angle. He sees UFC as a business trying to break into the mainstream and is thus covering it from a business point of view. Although this argument is kind of silly...

Head 2 Head Fantasy Baseball 2005

Before the draft, could a list, by position of all the keepers be listed so we know who's avaliable to draft or not?

    The Ultimate Fighter

How do you figure that? I agree, Dave wants to see MMA suceed and even admitted he'd want what was good for business, but how do you gather a guy who has dedicated his life and career to covering pro wrestling world wide from every angle for over 20 years has insecurities about covering wrestling? He wants to see the wrestling business suceed just as much as he does MMA. It is the "Wrestling" Observer after all.

I'm returning of course, crappy draft position and all! Boy, with all the keepers, it should be slim pickens in the draft, EL KABONG~! is looking forward to layin' the stroke down on the rest of the league.

And why aren't these fights 3 rounds anyway? They follow all the other UFC rules down to the weigh ins, judges, etc. you'd think it would be regulation rounds too. But I guess it's just an "exhibition". Not to make excuses because he just looked lethargic both rounds, but you never know if he got a Round 3, Leben could have let out a burst and ended it...oh well...

The WWE Raw Thread for 02-21-05

But think of it this way, Bradshaw will have already held the belt for about 10 months. What's another couple going to do in the grand scheme? Just make it sweeter when he finally loses. It's been established that Batista NEEDS to win at Mania. More so then Cena. If Cena wins the belt in the middle of the card, he will be buried and forgtten by the time Batista is done celebrating to close the show. If you have JBL pick up another cheap win, Cena can chase and an upcoming Smackdown PPV that will badly need a hook will have the rematch, and let Cena shine. I actually remember reading a little while back in one of the newsletters was that the plan was for Cena to lose cheaply at Mania and then he wins the belt in a heavily hyped edition of Smackdown in May or June, since it would be seen by the most people and make Cena's win a big deal since WWE title changes on TV are rare.

I watched some snooze fests when I started watching MMA (Royce/Shamrock,Severn/Shamrock), but it didn't scare me away because I knew when it was good, it was really good. Right, Im just saying UFC is gaining it's largest audience ever through this show of those who know pro wrestling but not MMA, and have gotten into through the very wrestling familiar feuds and storylines but if the matches don't payoff in the same way, will that lose them?

    The Ultimate Fighter

An interesting question I have: obviously, the show has picked up a number of wrestling fans holding over from RAW who are new to MMA. The last few shows have built them up to a fever pitch "storyline" wise (as a wrestling feud done right), but now that the match itself didn't deliver in execution or result as was hoped for (such is the way for "real" fighting), will this turn off a lot of the new wrestling crowd? Will they just say "aww, this sucked, the guy I liked is gone, and the fights are boring" and stop caring and UFC has jumped the shark just as soon as they "slammed the cage door" as Dave Meltzer likes to say? Or will they understand that this is the nature of the unpredictability of MMA, and will remain hooked and continue to give UFC a huge boost into their upcoming PPV?

Hmmm...Summerslam is in DC (thus I will hopefully be going). My friend and I were assuming Batista will still be champ (come on, he's got to be, in his hometown) and who he'd be facing. Maybe Batista unifies the titles and stops JBL all in one night?

Why didn't Leben just go in there with guns a blazin'?! He really was giving Josh too much respect. Josh has nothing in his hands, worst that happens is he gets taken down, which is what happened anyway...

Does a striker EVER beat a grappler? In every match it seems the outcome is the same... Boy, unless some shocking swerve is coming that was really heart wrenchingly disappointing.
