Curiously, where did you trade it in, and how much did you get for it towards the new model?

So because gays can't get unionised or married in Virginia you can't eat at the restaurants anymore?

Yeah, but now a days it's like 6,000 fans, half papered and the upper deck blacked out chanting his name!

HAHA from Metlzer's news update today: It's true, the Observer usually nails it before news breaks mainstream...

I'm not saying it needs a folder mod (do we even have those anymore?!) it just seems like the regular mods rarely visit it and move/close threads that warrant them. But it's a moot point now, since this has been moved, thanks to whoever did it.

Totally off topic, but Robot, your sig made me laugh at a funny memory, my senior year in high school, my friend and I (both wrestling fans) were in a Computer Apps class, and we had to create a Powerpoint presentation on an historical figure, so he chose Booker T Washington, and I gave him the bright idea that he should start it like Booker T's titantron with the words CAN YOU DIG IT SUCKA? all flying in big yellow print like they do on the titantron, and then have Booker T (the wrestler) appear doing the spinerooni and narrate the thing on BTW's life, saying "sucka" after every sentence. The teacher just looked at it and went "Can you dig it sucka?" (like what the hell?) and got pissed meanwhile we're laughing our asses off. Almost as funny as the time we had to make a Jeapordy type game and I decided to make "Good 'ole JR's Rasslin Trivia" all wrestling questions that depending on a right or wrong answer, a ridiculous picture of JR would pop up and say one of his saying in a word bubble (like "He's whipping him like a government mule, bah god!"). Luckily the teacher was a little bit of a wrestling fan and let us get away with this stuff (he always asked us when Goldberg was coming back). I wish I still had those projects saved, but they were deleted at the end of the semester. Ok, carry on your partisan bickering.

Agreed. Could you imagine seeing the Rock in a movie where the trailer doesn't show him walking in slo-mo before he hits someone? He can't do anything but action flicks. Something will suck, and he'll be back. Or maybe he'll run for governor of Florida...
-
That would be awesome. I'm sure if Rock has time, he'd do it. He did a long Torch Talk with Wade Keller and The Torch a few years ago that was a good read...

Which is why they created WWE films, so wrestler's acting ambitions can be fulfilled with low budget, straight to video stock that is completely controlled by WWE, and thus avoid ever losing anyone else to Hollywood! It's brilliant! (and a money loser!).

I can't help you there, I'm not making the laws here. My advice would be to really push hard for civil unions and make it clear that there should be nothing wrong with civil unions and get the public on your side there. Abandon the "marriage or bust" stance, and people will be more sympathetic. But I understand just like I'm not making the laws here, you're not the one leading the "gay rights" cause, either. So all we can do is sit back and watch it degenerate. Just like all politics does.

Wow, so I guess this is a widespread problem. I've had my PS2 like 4 years now and just recently certain DVDs won't play, it'll say "Error Reading Disc" when the disc is put in, or occasionally start to play, then reach a certain point, shut off and give the "Error Reading Disc". It's quite annoying. So you're saying that eventually the games will stop playing too!? I take it the warranty doesn't cover this? And this 1st gen, 2nd gen. version discussing is interesting. How do I tell which version I have, and can someone reitirate or link me a tip on how to get the DVDs to work again?

Maybe for the Hall of Fame next year, but otherwise he has no reason to come back and wrestle.

If the Diamondbacks trade Javy Vazquez (or anyone) to the Orioles for Jorge Julio, I will write the obituary for the franchise right now. It wouldn't just be for Julio, but he might be part of a package of say Julio, Bedard and a minor leager. Although those rumors have dried up recently...

Howard Dean: The Next DNC Chief.
Styles replied to Dr. Tyler; Captain America's topic in Current Events
Now, now Czech. bigol and I have have signed the historic first ever TSM peace treaty between a conservative and liberal poster. Please don't undermine those efforts. We hope to be an example to bring more posters from opposite sides of the aisle together as well. Like Slyk Wagner Brown says... Don't Hate...Appreciate. -
What's to think through? The man makes more money doing one movie then nearly his entire wrestling career could bring him, he has like at least 5 projects confirmed for the next few years, he's a celebrity, still young and injury free and will have all the wealth he wants to retire whenever he wants. Why would he regret this? Why does he need Vince? Jesus, TNA? Indys!? Are you SERIOUS!?
-
Phew, I was worried that the Orioles might give up the younger, more talented and less headcasey Jorge Julio for him as was rumored before the Sosa trade, so it looks like we can either keep him for our own pen or swing him for a starter (Javy Vazquez?)

Because none of the mods give a damn enough to regulate the TNA folder...

Paramount releasing Classic Nickelodeon on DVD!
Styles replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in Television & Film
I hate to break up the excitement, but am I the only one who watched these shows as a kid on Nickolodean and liked them but then outgrew them once I hit my teens and have no interest in ever watching them again now? -
Exactly. The Democrats don't get it. The Republicans are appealing to people all across the country and their concerns. The Democrats seem intent to just cater to the dense populations in the Northeast and Northwest. They need to become more moderate, putting the Joe Liebermans and Evan Bayes and Joe Bidens of the world into the forefront of their party instead of the Nancy Pelosis and Harry Reids and Barbra Boxers that they trot out there now (I would include Ted Kennedy, but let's face it, no matter what anyone says, he's not going away). Once again, it's a Clinton who is smarter then the average Democrat and doing what they need to do to get elected. As much as I don't like her, and her past will catch up to her, Hillary is doing all the right things to make herself electable in the eyes of the ENTIRE country (not just New England and Seattle) by giving speeches embracing religion, and speaking out against abortion and being more pro-milatary in her rhetoric. I'm not saying it will work and the country won't see right through her, but it's exactly what got her husband elected and re-elected. He was a populist that stayed moderate in his rhetoric and embraced some conservative issues. Like it or not, Democrats have to understand that the majority of the country DOES NOT agree with them on leftist positions. They more left they go, the more people they alieante, they're not going to convince anyone. The Clintons got it and are getting it again it appears, move more towards the right and push suttle differences to gain the trust of the electorate. If that fails, I guess Howard Dean could always give one of his trademarked frothing at the mouth angry liberal speeches...

I've already explained, that this might be true for some ultra religious fanatics, but for most moderate Americans, they don't want to have an issue as simple as marriage become confusing for their children, and would rather avoid the embarassing questions that have to be answered that will follow. Cart before the horse. Civil unions should not bother anybody unless they truly have a problem accpeting differences. For now, most moderate Americans are uncomfortable with changing the mainstream ideal of marriage and taking away some of the innocence they associate with it (this is all in ideal obviously, not in reality). So just learn to compromise, and eveyone should be happy, because otherwise you'll push away the people you need to help your side gain the rights you feel you deserve.

Am I correct that the national distribution only started with UFC 43? (Ironically the first MMA show I took a chance on and ordered). Because I've seen older UFC's like 40 on the web, but since they're not nationally distributed in stores, they'e like 35 or 40 bucks instead of 20...

As mentioned, the Observer reported a couple weeks ago that Rock and WWE are done. His contract ran out and when an extension for Wrestlemania was talked about, WWE wanted him to face JBL for the WWE title, and even supposedly would have him win the title (since it'd be a big suprise since no one would expect it), and then he'd job it back a week or 2 later on Smckdown, but Rock didn't like the idea. Instead he only wanted to return for something "special" and after watching a lot of old NWA tapes in his trailer on movie sets, he decided he'd like to have a match with Sting at Wrestlemania, but WWE didn't go for that idea, so the 2 sides couldn't come to terms and Rock as of now is not under WWE contract and will not be at Wrestlemania.

Def. the first one. The "DILLIGAS" is very clever and is kind of what we've wanted. A cool looking, somehwat ambigiuous shirt that doesn't scream wrestling.

The "privatise all marriage" idea will never happen because it would take a massive re-writing of the tax code, which explicitly recognises "marriages", which isn't going to happen. My Q&D is similar to Rant's (without the slurring and gay baiting). Gays need to not put the horse before the cart. Marriage is a deeply sacred insititution for a majority of Americans, who right or wrong, do not agree with the gay lifestyle being given "mainstream" acceptance (my personal theory is because they don't want to confuse their children who will no doubt ask them embarassing questions about it, and thus would rather avoid the issue all together then possibly be forced to explain it to their children who might percieve it as a lifestyle choice they might want to make). Anyway, like I was saying, the compromise needs to be on civil unions. Across the nation, because doing by state would never work do the full faith and credit clause. Make the civil unions have the same legal rights as a marriage would just without it being called "marriage". This way everyone (except for the most militant of gays who do their cause no good by being confrontational about this, and scaring away even the moedrates who they need on their side) is happy. Gays get their rights (and can even call it a marriage amongst themselves), while the majority who is not comfortable compromising an institution like marriage really wouldn't have any argument. 10 years down the line, as mentioned with society possibly becoming more accepting, the marriage issue could be reviewed. Anyone who can't see why going all out and compromising marriage wouldn't upset a lot of people is simply dilluted while anyone who at the same time can't accept civil unions (with all the rights granted) in just being stubborn.
