    Scott Peterson Convicted of Murder

Cerebus, you know I love me some fluff photos (hell I think I used that one with that exact same tagline first), but even if you don't agree that this should be a news story, it has been a national story for over a year, so the verdict is most defintely a current event worth talking about. If you wish to argue that the case itself shouldn't have gotten national attention, fine, but you can't argue it's not a "current event". I agree though, the media obsseses too much over this tabloid like crap...

Did Clark have ANY policy positions?
  3. And where's the Viva Bush avatar?
  4. I too have asked Dr. Tom for an edorsed name change. OK, if I'm still selecting, let's go with "Viva Bush!" and smiling picture of our President....

    Veteran's Day Salute

Thank you for posting that. I heard recently the military reffered to as "the line between us and the terrorists". I never really thought of it that way. God bless them for fighting our enemies abroad so we don't have to do it here. (For the love of God just keep INXS from ruining this thread).

    Election 2008

Oh will they. Sort of. They'll still want her on the ticket as well as THE BILL~! and his fundraising and allies, so she'll be the VP candidate.

    Election 2008

He was a succesful District attorney in New York and prosecuted some white collar criminals and Mafia bosses. He was seen as a tough but effective mayor that gets a lot of credit for cleaning up the city from crime and graffitti. His reputation took a hit in 2000 though when it came out that he was having an affair, and then divorced his wife to marry his girlfriend. Of course his reputation shot way up after September 11th when he took such an active leadership role during the crisis and was Time's Man Of The Year for 2001. I'm suprised he wasn't named the new US Attorney General as that could have given him more legitimacy for a Presidential run in 08, but its a tough job I guess. Keep in mind being mayor of New York is more difficult than being the governor for many smaller and less populated states. I think he'll give it a run in 08, but ultimately will drop out do to questions of his qualifications and some of his "liberal" positions, but will be the likely candidate for the VP spot where he can be a popular addition to the ticket, appealling to moderates and New Yorkers. Here is a brief synopsis of his career: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Giuliani

    Election 2008

Hey, speak for yourself! I campaigned for the Judge and he was just a geninely nice guy every time I spoke to him. Minner is indeed a monster, and I'm shocked she was re-elected (even by the slim margin she was). Ok, enough Delaware politics since we alienate 99.9% of the board. I was telling everyone during the primaries and most Dems laughed at me. If the Democrats had any shot of beating Bush, they should have gotten behind Joe Lieberman. He could match Bush on every security and terrorism issue, never waivered on his support of the Iraq war, is proudly religious and endorses those "moral vaules" everyone loves talking about, but at the same time is more moderate than Bush on social and domestic issues which he could have hammered him on. Plus he nearly was elected Vice President by about 500 votes so he'd have the credibility. But the Dems were stupid, they ran far to the left, partied with Dean, slept with Kerry, got engaged with Edwards or whatever stupidity they say. It's a shame too, because I would mention Liberman for '08, but after losing 2 times, his stock is likely too low, and he probably wouldn't want to run again. I even heard a rumor that in an effort to be bi-partisan, Bush could appoint him the new Secretary of Homeland Security if Tom Ridge steps down. Anyway, I agree although she'll give it a run, she'll be the "Dean of 08" in that Hilary will have a lot of early excitement, but by the primaries Dems will be like "wait, we're not that stupid". I think she'll be chosen as the Vp though. Bill Richardson, John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Evan Bayhe and Tom Vilsack will likely be the top candidates. On the Republican side, I feel bad for Jeb Bush who simply can't run for obvious reasons. He's a popular governor and capable candidate. Maybe if he gives the country a break from Bush's he could come back in 2016 and run. The list of probables includes: Bill Frist, George Pataki, Rudy Guilliani, John McCain and Rick Perry (gov. of Texas). I'll go ahead and make my way too early predictions for the 08 race: Bill Frist/Rudy Guilliani vs. Bill Richardson/Hillary Clinton

Yasser Arafat has "Hours to live"

As previously clarified, I do not like INXS. In fact, Im pretty pissed that he's sneaking away from his end of the avatar bet. My suggestion was provided at the end of this thread: http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...pic=63038&st=90 I think a mod should see to it that it is enforced. It's only fair.

Fuck you! I'm not outsourcing that job to you, or those Afghan warlords in the caves of Torah Borah. I usually only pull them out to put someone's anti-Israel arguments in their place, but since you're being such a sandy vagina (eeewww...did I say that one right, guys?) and to show what a wonderful leader Arafat was to his own suffering people, I'll post one: As always this Israel Myth and Fact of the day is sponsored by, The JSource Library at http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myth.

    MEGADETH

No, Megadeth and Metallica have never toured together. They've barely talked in 20 years. Anyway, I've had several heart attacks today. From before tickets even went on sale, I started bugging friends to go to the Megadeth show in Philly. See, I don't have a car, so I need someone who's willing to go to the show and drive, otherwise, I'd just go myself. Well, for weeks I go through various people who all string me along before ultimately coming up with some excuse or another why they can't go. I resigned myself to the fact that it's out of my hands, I tried my best, but I wasn't going to see Dave and friends live this round. Ok, well just today (yes, night before the fucking show), Im talking to someone who has friends who are going to the show, and could probably give me a ride down. Hey, great, better late than never? Well, of course I check the tour page and Philly is now SOLD OUT. I can't even describe how pissed I am. So, as a last resort I post my sobby story on the 'Deth board, and sure enough someone replies that I'm in luck because they have an extra ticket and would be happy to meet me tommorow before the show. I BETTER get that fucking ride. I can't believe within minutes I found someone who will meet me and sell me a ticket. By the way, latest version of the setlist, with more songs from The System Has Failed: Set The World Afire Skin Of My Teeth The Scorpion Wake Up Dead Something I'm Not In My Darkest Hour Angry Again Of Mice And Men Reckoning Day A Tout Le Monde Die Dead Enough Trust Tornado Of Souls Kick The Chair Hangar 18 Sweating Bullets Symphony Back In The Day Peace Sells Holy Wars

Ok, now that my AC Adaptor has arrived, Im back on my own laptop and can get back into things. Fuck Arafat. Hopefully the new Palestinian leader will crackdown on the terrorist groups and be commited to peace. I know better though...

    OAO Victory Road Thread

Watched my tape today. My friend had to blurt out that Savage showed up at the end, so the big suprise was spoiled for me going in. This was very much like most of TNA's 2 hour PPVs. Some exciting action, some filler, some suprises but overall a flat feeling. The gauntlet match was excellent as was Styles/Petey. The finish with the leaping Canadian Destroyer looked beautiful. I would love to see a rematch, and with more time too. The main event was pretty good too. Jarrett and Hardy got about as much as they possibly could...well...for Jarrett and Hardy. Some innovative use of the ladder, and Scott Hall was actually into it and seemed to be taking his role seriously. Nash on the other hand...eh. The ending was horribly predictable but actually somewhat dramatic in execution with Hardy holding on for life. Savage appearance at the end did nothing for me(then again I already knew he'd be there), and now that he's gone already it appears to be just as meaningless as the time his former girlfriend appeared at the end of a show (and then disappeared after). Monster's Ball was a decent match with some good bumps. Brown is gonna be huge if they keep it up. Pounce! What? Pounce! Huh? Pounce! Period. I agree all 3 shielding their eyes when they came out from the light was a nic touch. Thumbtack bump by Abyss looked painful. What is Raven gonna do now? Is his starpower gone? I'd put him over Jarrett and give him a last shot at a main event, but we know that won't happen. Piper segment was what it was. I would have rather seen him interview Savage. At least Piper was coherent and seemed energised. I didn't think the last team standing was a complete disaster, but it was obvious some spots were messed up (knowing Elix had a concussion it's understandable)-that last Catatnic on the chair must have really hurt. I look forward to seeing them redeem themselves in the cage again. The rest was just bad to mediocre. The 8 man and the mini match was unecessary and I could have done without the woman's match but it at least served it's purpose. Was I the only one that wanted to see Jazz, Gail Kim and Nidia all jump Trinity and do a nWo style WWE women's b-team ambush? Um...I guess so. Tag title match was the right length, and decent. The "voting" thing was stupid, and I've actually grown to like Russo as a level headed face, rather than a lunatic, and have grown really tired of Dusty so count that a negative. Overall it was a decent show for TNA. They had a hot crowd all night that was into things which is good, the production and lighting was great and the new video packages give a very professional feel. They're on the right track. Now they just need to build to something big, cut the filler, and give their best workers more time to do what they do best. Its like they have all the potential but they need an editor to give them direction and focus on their strengths while hiding their weaknesses. Is Paul Heyman avaliable?

Yasser Arafat has "Hours to live"

Thanks, Bob. I haven't been posting the last couple days, because the AC Adaptor on my laptop died, and I have little energy left in the battery. The new one should arrive hopefully tommorow, Thursday at latest. I've been accessing the board from a computer lab, and have been reluctant to post from a public location. So I'll just pop in and say hi, and I'll be back in full force in a day or 2. Rust in peace, Mr. Arafat.
  16. Isn't the trend for Hispanics going up? In fact, (even though its still heavily lopsided), aren't more black and Jews starting to trend Republican too?

Time To Do the Happy Dance!

Don't be stunned, the UN is incredibly anti-semetic. Not suprising when so many members come from Arab countries and European countries with growing Muslim population to cater too, plus oil deals with Arab countries and anti-semetism in their past. I really have no idea how Israel was ever ratified to tell you the truth, I believe it barely was, in fact as the US I believe was the deciding vote (per usual standing up for what's right). I mean, is Sudan still on the human rights commitee or some stupidity? Who can take the UN seriously anymore. It is was it is, a conglomorate of corruption and self-interests.

The One and Only WWE Firing Thread.

It's interesting that someone mentioned that, as in this week's Observer, Meltzer mentions about how when the company was starting, TNA talked with Vince about secretly funding it, and serving as kind of a "feeder system" for new stars to go to WWE much like ECW. Vince turned it down without much thought. It might have been something to think about though, as WWE biggest problem right now is lack of competition and no stars on the horizon to draw from. Without ECW or WCW around to pick up "already made" stars from, WWE has failed in creating bonofide new ones.
  19. Absolutely awesome. I loved every second of it. I hope Puder wins, and shoots on every wrestler who is a dick to him. Meltzer is right, this could be the huge angle to turn things around, but they're ignoring it. First it was hardcore, then high flying, the new "in" style is shootfighting and ground fighting. They could make Puder into a top star next week if they wanted to, but they won't. They'll bury him and anyone else who brings something new and interesting to the table in favor of more tall muscle-heads.

    Pride 28

Just watched the show (had to wait for the tape to arrive from home). Good show but nothing too spectacular. Silva/Rampage was excellent, and at the end of the first round I thought Rampage had a chance. Oh well. The knockout with the knees and the blood spurting out as he collapsed into the ropes was an awesome sight. So where does Jackson go from here? He's gotten his shot twice, and couldn't do it. Also, for all your talk about the godly match up of Couture/Silva, what are the chances of it actually happening? Would it happen on a UFC show or a Pride show? The first ever joint show? In a cage or ring? Too much questions. What exactly happened in Cro Crop/Barnett? I know his shoulder became dislocated, but HOW? He was in a guard and then just started tapping. WTF? Hendo/Naku was less of a fluke. For the short time it lasted it was WILD. Dan's crazy twisting neck takedown thing was wild (in fact I think the jarring motion and odd landing, contributed to Naku's injury). From there it was just knees that finished him (a lot of knees on this show, weren't there?) Bobish was impressive in his dominance (and yes, I caught the CRIPPLER CROSSFACE~!!! by Bobish), but Hunt caught him with a good shot. What was up with Hunt's weight? I don't remember him being that big, he looked totally out of shape for the fight. Thomson/Alexandre was one of the funniest fights I've ever seen. Especially the polar opposite reactions. Thomson looked like Heidenreich or something, while Alexandre looked like he wanted to take a nap or eat a sandwhich or something. Which made it all the more funnier when Alex got up from the knockdown and knocked him out. Overheem obviously came in tremendous shape, and obviously loves to throw flying knees, and was even Sakuraba like with some of those stomps. He needs to finish quicker though. That Japanese dude needs to just call it a day. Well I guess, the Russian top team isn't always going to crack out winners. Arona was an asshole though, not releasing that choke. Heath Herring, per usual, is absolutely dominating in a match that doesn't mean much, and in which he's favored, but he never seems to deliver in big matches. Nice knees though (again with the knees!). Kind of funny to see the ref stop the fight, decide Yokoi hasn't had enough and then restarts it for Heath to finish him. Rulon Gardner is a big sigining obviously. What are his chances for success in Pride? Is he well rounded enough to be able to strike and defend against submissions? I wonder if it will bring Pride some publicity for the show. I just realized Yoshida took Silva to the distance and nearly beat him, so I don't know if Gardner knows what he's getting into. Oh, and I didn't miss the extended intros. I want to see more action, not 20 minutes of guys beating drums and people running around in dragon masks and such.
  21. Must have been tough to ignore this before the concession. I wish nothing but a speedy and successful recovery.
  22. Ah, thanks! My dad mentioned last week that he saw a really funny Bush ad on TV with a groom kissing everybody at the wedding, etc. but I had never seen or heard of it. http://clubforgrowth.net/ -only the real player link is working for me though! Good stuff.

    MEGADETH

No, your wrong. That was old news. 12 Stones is totally off the show and Exodus is supporting them for the rest of the tour now. I'm upset because my friend is busy that day and can't go, which means I miss out on seeing Megadeth...again.

    Bush's 2nd term cabinet

I guess it would be a good idea to start a thread to keep track of the various cabinet changes that will be coming in the next few weeks. According to this article, it appears that Ashcroft is ready to go, and names Gulianni as his possible replacement...

The One and Only WWE Firing Thread.

Think of Velocity!!! What about Heat?! Vince is like a Nazi firing squad today. Way to celebrate your tax cuts and stimulate the economy, Vince. Only ones that really bug me are Rico and A-Train. Rico always worked hard and was entertaining to the crowd, and A-Train could fill the roll of all these big oafs they keep calling up with more experience and talent. Plus I hear he's a really nice guy too. Is there anyone left on the roster to job to HHH? On the bright side, I greatly anticipate TNA's soon to be announced "Gauntlet for a Job" battle royal at Victory Road.
