I'm privy to stuff, but for the record nothing is happening with the International so that'd be a good cut. Tag is iffy, that's kinda a token belt for any wrestling company, 'e' or otherwise, but there's not really the competition here even at the best of times.

Isn't the Originals going after McMahon basically the same as the angle when Sandman first won the title in the 'real' ECW? Everyone cutting a promo on him, questioning whether he deserved to be World Heavyweight Champion because he was a brawler and not a wrestler?

I can't have been the only one who didn't enjoy Batista-Taker, can I? I know neither guy is a cruiserweight at the best of times and they were both carrying, I assume, legitimate injuries. But the first ten minutes felt like thirty, it was so slow and plodding. It picked up in the middle but then the finish... I mean, who didn't see THAT coming? The moment they started up the aisle you knew somebody was going off the stage. I didn't expect the full Royal Rumble 1999 redux ending, but they've successfully turned what should be a geniune holy shit moment into just another high-spot by doing it over and over and over again. Didn't do anything for me. Also, I can't be the only one who was bored rigid by the Women's Title Match. Maybe it was because it was 1:30 in the morning, I dunno, but I don't remember them doing anything of note until the splits spot. And then the finish was just 'meh'. I really enjoyed the opener though. Really good, old school kinda tag team match. Cade and Murdoch deserve a long run with something to do because they're an actual tag team. They've gone past the point of being two singles guys paired up and they're a believable team now. MVP vs. Benoit was okay. Maybe not their best match. And the 4-Way was excellent. At the risk of being one of those guys who mentions ROH at the drop of a hat (sorry Hawk, ), they should do like ROH and put more multi-mans on the card, especially now there's so many less spaces on PPVs. If there's one thing WWE can do well virtually every time besides video packages, it's booking 3 and 4 Ways.

ROH 4/27 and Good Times, Great Memories (4/28) shows
King Cucaracha replied to Hawk 34's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, why walk before you can run? Trying to be bigger than you're meant to be was part of what contributed to ECW's downfall, what gave MLW problems, what killed the FWA, what's hamstrung IWA:Mid South for the past few years and it's what's contributing to TNA's problems. You can't just decide one day to be a national promotion. If it happens naturally, like ECW at first, great. If not, why roll the dice on a big gamble when it's proven so many times to be the death of so many promotions. Sure, any promoter would want to be more successful than they currently are. But what's wrong with being successful at a certain level? There's tons, tons of talent on the indie scene who can fill gaps on the roster. I could probably name ten off the top of my head who'd fit in ROH who aren't on the active roster. The only big problem I see is that the guys they bring in are going to need a good 6 months to get credibility to go into main event, unless they catch fire like Delirious did. Might be a case of a few months of 'rejuvination' while the new talent get over. But there's potential main-eventers there already. IMO, they could do a LOT more with Claudio right now. Throw in Hero, Pearce, Nigel and Rave who are all kinda on the cusp, in and out of the mains. Those are the guys they should concentrate on, more-so than the Dragon Gate and NOAH guys who aren't available every show and should be 'attractions' as much as anything. Oh, and it's obvious to me at least Steen and Generico are going to be getting the big push if they can commit to being regulars. Seems like after The Briscoes match the plan is to split them eventually. One Steen vs. Generico match should be enough to put them both over the top, they're awesome opponents. -

I'm back, thankfully. Wasn't too bad of a problem thankfully. My matches'll be up in GCF for you whenever PR. EDIT: Okay, they're in. I changed the order if that's okay, I had the Handicap Match written up as the opener. -
OK! Also, Blindfold Match.

My net seems to be down atm (on PSP), so stuff may be late. It'll happen though. Honest. -
Blindfold will have to wait, I'll edit out the space eventually.
-
Well, I guess it is like the Cage Match DVD. Yay me?
-
I'm gonna have to edit in the Blindfold Match tommorrow morning, so just leave me a space Patty. I mis-interpreted the rules and tried to write it blindfolded, thus setting me behind. Also, life. (Yay, a Futurama reference! A nerd on the internet, who'd have seen that coming?)

ROH 4/27 and Good Times, Great Memories (4/28) shows
King Cucaracha replied to Hawk 34's topic in General Wrestling
Good Times, Great Memories looks like it could be one of the best shows of the year going by the card. Legitimately, any match on the show could wind up stealing it, outside of maybe Daniels/Stevens (which should be a really good match nonetheless, I'm a big fan of Stevens). Fingers crossed the CHIKARA crew impress. -
Has there ever been a losing streak angle that worked? Not counting someone like Horowitz who always lost, I'm talking about someone who was successfully and then went on a losing streak.

We're transported backstage into the locker room area (never got that phrase, either it's the locker room or it ain't) where Bohemoth is busy lacing up his boots ready for the big 8-Man Tag Team Match later on tonight. Bo barely looks up as Josh Matthews walks in with a microphone at the ready, looking less then enthused about his latest job. MATTHEWS Er... Bo. Can we get a few words? Bo finishes up the knot before looking up. Just above the customary orange-tinted sunglasses is a heavy bandage on his forehead. MATTHEWS Last week, you fell victim to a chairshot from PRL for the second week in a row. PR seems to be pretty apologetic about both incidents, but you'll be facing him on Saturday night for the X-Division Championship nonetheless. Your thoughts? BOHEMOTH If PRL's apologising, it's because he knows that he's made the biggest mistake of his natural life. Lowering his sunglasses, Bo glares into the camera. BOHEMOTH Usually when someone hits me with a chair, they don't live to see a second chance. PRL better be grateful he made it this far. Because whether it's tonight or whether it's Saturday night, his ass is mine. And seeing as his hired help took my 24/7 Championship... his belt'll be mine as well. Bohemoth goes back to the pressing concern of his laces, not noticing that another person has entered the room. This person just happens to be decked out in baggy tracksuit pants and an equally baggy vesttop. And although his face is hid by a fitted Reebok cap, it's clear that it's JAMIE O'HARA barging his way past Matthews. O'HARA OI! You don't ave'ta worry 'bout Cuban Wall no more geezer. Coz after Sat'rday, that 24/7 belt's gonna be the property of the big J-OH~! BOHEMOTH Like the other stuff you steal? O'HARA Wot!? BOHEMOTH That's what you people do, right? O'Hara's lip curls as he thinks about taking a swipe at Bohemoth. Until, that is, Bo stands up with his laces dealt with. O'HARA Wot the fuck's that supposed to mean, prick? I ain't the bloody Repo Man! Naw son, I'm'a kick Cuban Wall's arse and I'm'a take that title, like you couldn't! You got a problem wi' that! Eh? Eh? BOHEMOTH Did you just call me 'son'? O'HARA Wot of it? BOHEMOTH Listen, if you wanna team me with me tonight, I suggest you shut your yapper. Otherwise, you'll end up like you did last time we teamed up. Flat on your face covered in blood. (Bo puts his glasses back on) But, for the record... good luck on Saturday. O'HARA Yeh... yeh, you too, I guess. That PRL's an even bigger prick than you. Bo manages a smile as he walks off out of the locker room, O'Hara left standing around realising that this isn't actually his locker room as we fade to something else.

Scott. Hall. edit: That made more sense when Hawk's post was before mine.

Not really, no. I was about to say the same thing. Well, of course he wasn't! He was booked as a spineless pussy with the miraculous power to convey his inner most thoughts and fears to a national TV audience against Undertaker and the feud with Mysterio a. made no real sense and b. was turned into a feud about Eddie Guerrero for no reason, which turned everyone off. SHH! We'll have none of that talk on TSM, thank you! Also, to clarify, the point I was making, tongue slightly in cheek, about Orton (and Aries/Starr) is that if you're looking to severly punish people for smoking recreational drugs, then the roster would probably be split in half: suspended and un-suspended. But I'm not saying that Orton shouldn't be punished or fired for repeated offences, don't get me wrong.
-
It'll probably be like the Cage Match DVD they put out. Infact, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be exactly like it, only without Coach hosting. A featurette on the history of the Ladder Match with highlights of all those matches, then maybe 8-10 in complete form.

*isn't If only it were.

Man, I can barely even remember writing those shows. My memory must be worse than I thought. Then again, I can't really blame myself for wanting to block the memory of the DDR Tournament out of my head I guess.

Journalists have better things to do than actively look for stories about professional wrestlers. This is 1999. Nobody really cares. I doubt most ordinary people have heard of Randy Orton and I doubt more than maybe 5% of those people would even care in the slightest. Hey, I wonder if anyone like Austin Aries, who TNA were wrong to reprimand for his conduct lest we forget, would do something so dastardly as to smoke 'certain subtances' in public?

TNA Impact Spoilers (First Hour Spoilers now up)
King Cucaracha replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
Did WWE copyright "Christian Coallition"? That'd be better. Also, Tomko is in simply for his history with Cage (the stable and for that matter the company). Steiner is in for his name. They're the same wrestler, but you lose one of the two things by taking one or the other out. -
To be fair, twice is more than most.
-
They have the internet on computers now?

As a stand alone it was a good match. I agree with what's been said above, people are rating it on novelty value right now, because it was a rare wrestling match on a wrestling show (and it'd only really be a MOTYC by virtue of lack of competition. It is only April after all.). It just seemed odd to me that this was clearly the pre-Backlash sell for the main-event, which is where you can kinda get away a screwy finish perhaps to set the PPV main up... and it goes 50 odd minutes? Non-title? They're relying on Edge, Orton and the fact that HBK has now 'proven he can beat John Cena' (as if the previous 15 years of success weren't enough) to get people to buy the PPV. Just seemed odd to me.
