Yeah, the issue is really that Piper and Snuka aren't strong special attractions anymore. The problem is, Steamboat isn't really considered as big of a name as the others. So they're hoping the sum will be greater than the individual parts.

Don't get me wrong, I can see why people are disappointed at what it could have been. But it's still salvagable and arguably better than the alternative. I don't object to it being disappointing, I object more to people calling it a waste of Jericho. Anyone on the main roster would risk being lost in the shuffle. Jericho facing the legends, even if it's not Flair or Austin, at least stands out from the pack. And besides, Flair would mean backtracking on one of the most genuine public moments in the history of the business which probably would have been more agregious than doing this gauntlet. And unless Austin's physical condition has improved from being out of the ring, he's not the best option either. So to a certain extent their hands are tied.

Honestly, the match listing doesn't do a whole lot for me. Then again that may be partly because I'm a Savage fan and have the majority of the matches already. Which is where the lack of a documentary proves a stumbling block for me.

You're probably going to hear some crazy talk about a 'wallet' and let me just say right now, don't believe a word anyone says. It's all propaganda.

Weren't people incredibly excited about the idea of Jericho versus the legends 24 hours ago? One bad segment and suddenly it's the biggest waste of a star in 24 years?

YES! Somebody who's not afraid of Undertaker. And backs it up. 'Bout time.

Koslov makes me miss Foley. "He's a grand mambo champion! #A little bit of Koslov, la la la#"

Best thing about Koslov is the Moscow skyline graphics they use for his entrance. After that, who cares?

"Curtain jerking" is such a lame-duck phrase nowadays. TV doesn't work like house shows. Plus they've already had a dark match.

Are we having to re-sign-up? If so, consider this me doing that. Pity there wasn't an extra point for match-finish on Joe/Steiner. I saw that DQ coming a mile away.

Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe
King Cucaracha replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
Thinking about it, Sheik probably fits my roster better than I thought originally. Still looking very 'legitimate'. And again I predict that it won't last much longer. Interesting at this point to see how people's rosters are taking shape. I'd say about 50% are beginning to follow some sort of pattern or style by now. So, is Franchise without internet? -
Wrestling Roster Draft: Luxe & Reduxe

To be fair, I'd consider him further down the line. Not this high. Yeah, if he was still on the board I would have looked at him more seriously at some point, just on reputation. But he didn't fit the rest of my roster so it would have meant using another 'outside' pick just to fit him in. There's still another guy on the board I've got the same feelings about and maybe I'll take the plunge on him before somebody else, who knows. Well, I'm officially taking the plunge. A natural heat magnet. WWE Hall Of Famer. Former WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Former WWF Tag Team Champion. Former Olympic medalist. Current source of much unintentional entertainment from shoot interviews. Master of the Camel Clutch. Breaker of backs. Humbler of faggots. THE IRON SHEIK "Colt Cabana? ACHTOOEY!" -

WrestleMania Roundtable Part Three: The Middle Years

The only thing I've got to note about WM XII- I miss the logo being imposed onto the ring mat. I can't remember any other event that WWF ever did this at and it looked really striking watching it the other day. I agree with HTQ on the Goldust thing too (I guess I had more than one thing to note after all). Goldust was such an incredible character for the time period. For me, when Piper stripped him down to his Rocky Horror Picture Show attire, that's the moment the original Goldust jumped the shark. It wasn't just goofy, I think it really took the character too far too soon. And I admit to being really into the HHH/Chyna double turn at WM XV when it happened. What can I say, I was young and impressionable. -
Watching WMX, what's interesting to me is the Bret angle and the reaction. I can virtually guarantee if they did that this year with somebody like CM Punk or Jeff Hardy, people would bitch forever and a day about how they were buried. Think about it. Opening match, Punk loses to Colt Cabana, or better comparison Jeff loses to Matt, clean. Then in the main event, they beat Big Show for the World Title, only after he slips on the ropes and falls on his head through no fault other than his own. You'd hear the cries of BURIED from miles away.

This one is all Vince's fault. The escape rule was put in for some retarded reason, and killed the premise of the match. Although it does still serve as a mild deterrent to a gang run-in. The escape rule dates well before Vince Jr. took over the promoter. If you watch Bruno Sammartino cage matches, it's very sensible. "It's just you and me, no referee, no interference. The last man standing walks out with the win." The problem is that is anti-climatic, and it was inevitable that promoters would book more creative finishes, Vince or no Vince. What gets me is when cage matches have Australian tag rules. Sting/Flair vs. Funk/Muta at Halloween Havoc '89. It's no DQ, win by surrender only. Why are you bothering with tags? Yes! Major pet peeve of mine. I think the first one I saw was an Andersons vs. Rock and Rolls match and I was so caught up over that detail I couldn't get into it. Arguably not as bad as the numerous Tables Matches The Dudleys had with tags in and out, since there's no way of arguing that there even needs to be a legal man for a pin or submission.
