I don't remember anyone trash talking Ali when he fought Inoki in Tokyo. And as far as the "reporter's" comments on the boxing fan ... well, whatever. That's an editorial piece and a poor one at that. Boxing has seen its image drop considerably over the past few years - mostly thanks to Mike Tyson and Don King, the two biggest names in the sport - so calling wrestling a circus in comparison is getting a little out of hand. A shoot fight involving a WWE competitor would be very interesting and would get mainstream coverage but it would have to be handled very well in order to not come across as a scam.

I don't see how Bush can be catagorized as a lame-duck president. He's beaten the odds with every obstacle put in front of him thus far. He was visible and strong when the country needed to see him during and following 9/11; I may be the least bit biased but I believe Gore would have acted much differently and much more wishy-washy with what to do following the attack (of course this is all speculation on my part, I just don't see Gore as being militarily-strong especially since Clinton/Gore closed many military bases and limited the overall ability of U.S. forces during their 8 years). I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think Bush was going to be a strong president following the 2000 election. I would rather have seen McCain vs. Gore instead of Bush, however since then he's won me over. The only reason I would not vote for Bush in 2004 was if McCain or Guiliani ran, which I don't see happening right now.

I friggin' love this. It's pretty clear that the Dems just did not have a suitable alternative to Bush or the Republican's policies. They are clearly NOT for backing the "underdog" as Daschle likes to say so often (using Hollywood as a spokesperson and being by far the most financially backed party proves that). I think things are going to be very interesting in the near future. I don't believe the Republicans are going to screw this up; they were successful in 94 and that was with a Democratic President in office. And if Gore even THINKS he has a chance in '04 ... well, good luck but what are you going to do when you get creamed in the primaries? The Clinton / Gore factor in this election only hurt the Dems running for office.

Debates are boring and full of partisan political rhetoric. Steel cage matches are much more fun.

Okay, we all know that there is plenty of politics in wrestling … but what if there was more wrestling in politics… There is the obvious George Sr., George W, & Jeb Bush vs. Bill Clinton, Al Gore, & Tom Daschle Winner Take All, Barbed Wire, Electrified Fence, Steel Cage match. Battle of New York – Rudy Guliani vs. Hillary Clinton in a ladder match - Bill interferes in behalf of Hillary … Guliani’s girlfriend interferes on his behalf … Guliani’s ex-wife shows up and knocks him out with a chair shot to the head … Hillary sets up the ladder and climbs up … Monica Lewinsky runs down, knocks the ladder over, and hits the F5 – allowing Guliani to pick up the win. Winner Recieves a Presidential Title Shot against George W – Tom Daschle vs. Jeb Bush in a tables match - Jeb hits a corkscrew DDT off the top to put Daschle through the table but the move knocks the referee out … Janet Reno runs in, hits the big boot to the face, which allows Daschle to hit a running Liger Bomb through a second table to pick up the win … after the match, Daschle and Reno double team Jeb and hit a spike piledriver on the concrete before EMTs load Jeb into a waiting ambulance backstage

Yeah, it has a lot of grit and intensity to it. I can easily see Benoit dropping someone on his head to this.

I remember at one point, Savage is on the house mic and is making his way down to ringside and that's the first time we got a look at the British Bulldog as he and Savage shake hands.

As a former comic book nut still in recovery, the extras are very sweet. You get a year-by-year look at the comic (Amazing Spider-Man) from the first issue through to the 9/11 special edition (which looks pretty cool). Not every issue is included per year but the major happenings are featured and it's a great look back for someone like me who had the Marvel Universe memorized when I was 10. There are plenty of documentaries with interviews from various comic book artists, including Kevin Smith, Todd McFarlane, and Stan Lee, HBO and E! specials promoting the film, a look at the loves of Peter Parker (I finally remember that Gwen Stacy was the one that died), music videos, and a ton of stuff I haven't even gotten to yet. Not bad for $15 at Wal-Mart. Oh yeah, the film itself was great too.

I was a huge Perfect mark back in the day, and I was extremely pissed when he didn't win at Summerslam 1993. Oh man, I'm still bitter over that. I saw the guys fight twice at house shows over the summer and I expected this to be MOTY. Lame count-out decision killed the show, IMO.

Take the Leslie Neilson bit out of the show and it's not that bad. From a pure fan standpoint, I liked most of the matches at the time...although Taker vs. Taker was retarded even when I was 13.

If you want to read something funny, read the back cover to Sharpton's book and how he says we need a leader for the new millenium that can see all our differences from one end of the country to the next and how he is that leader. He and Jackson are nothing more than con artists.

Sad to say but whenever Bill Clinton says something, people listen. Not sure why that is really. A few weeks ago he criticized Bush going after Iraq instead of focusing exclusively on Bin Ladin...as though there's only one terrorist out there that wants us all dead. Keep in mind that it was Clinton that didn't do jack when he had the chance to get Bin Ladin back in 98. Sure, he sent some missiles over to distract the media for a day or two so they wouldn't focus on Monica Lewinsky but what good did that do? Clinton knew Bin Ladin was out there. The administration knew what he was capable of, how much money he had, and what his intentions were. The guy didn't just pop up out of nowhere in 2001. If that adminstration had any balls at all we wouldn't be in this mess today, IMO (which I'm sure is not shared by several on this board so feel free to speak up). True, Dems aren't known for backing the military but during his 8 years in office Clinton gave the U.S. an aura of weakness that the terrorists picked up on. The U.S. didn't do enough in response to the various attacks we suffered over that time (93 bombing, USS Kohl, etc). As far as solidarity goes, sure you can bitch and scream and yell if you really want to. But when you are a public figure and attack, not criticize but attack, leaders of this country nothing good comes of it. Daschle's temper tantrum a few weeks ago toward the President was sad to watch, the racial attacks toward Powell and Rice were uncalled for, the political rally / memorial where Trent Lott was booed was disgusting, and Barbara Streisand ... well ... I don't see how she's relevant to anything. Ghephardt and Lieberman are smart enough to disagree with the adminstration without stooping to that level. And just to clear things up, I'm not for a war either. I can't really consider it to be a war if the other side doesn't get a chance to put up a fight.

I don't see how that tag match could have taken place. Bret was in a wheelchair / on crutches from late April through late June.

The only buildup I recall was maybe a promo or two during one of the WrestleMania control center segments with Gene Okerlund. Razor was huge right up until the Rumble, which was noted earlier. He beat Bret Hart, Randy Savage, the Big Bossman - which is saying a lot considering he came into the company in June 92. After the Rumble they slowly took him from upper mid-card, to mid-card, and then had him basically be a jobber to set up his face turn.

I never advocated killing all of them. ...Just the leaders whose only actions over the past few weeks / months have been attempts to hamper and debunk the Bush administration any way they can. I'm sick and tired of the partisnship myself and it seems like all the bad feelings are coming exclusively from the Dems, Streisand, 3/4s of Hollywood, or the ultra-liberal black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who compare Powell and Rice to house slaves. I don't care what your political affiliation is, you don't trash talk the President or the government during a time of war. The Federalists did that during the War of 1812 and it killed the entire party (history lesson for the day).

I haven't seen the VHS version but I don't recall Owen being in it at all.

I didn't have the net back then so when I saw Hall coming down through the crowd a mere month after losing to Vader at In Your House, I just about lost it. That was a mark out moment and later on when he challenged Bischoff face-to-face, giving the impression he was still working for the WWF, was another mark out moment.

I'm completely out of the loop. I lost interest back in early 95 when they had the storyline where Prof. X was killed off in the past before he could form the X-Men and really haven't gotten back into it. From what I can tell, things have gone downhill.
