2008 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony

I suspect with Rock having to go on first and leave immediately (and them editing it to he's 2nd last to speak), that would not have worked. Hopefully it returns in 2009.

2008 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony

I might just have bad memory these days but I don't remember seeing the opening bit with Josh Matthews interviewing people on the DVD release. That's pretty cool. This is the first HOF that's ever appeared on Cogeco's 24/7 line-up.

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

No, but that was my first thought too. You have to love how the opening match is a former world champ vs a former IC champ - not something totally common in 1991 - but neither "Col. Mustafa" or "The Dragon" are acknowledged as such in 1991 WWE canon.

    24/7 Shorties

The 1984 promo where Flair talks about why he's better than Dusty Rhodes from inside his wood paneled home is pretty good.

    WCW SuperBrawl VI

Odd that Johnny B. Badd was still being pushed with obviously so little left in his contract (he's at Mania XII a month later). And what's with the frisbees? Does he think he's Leaping Lanny Poffo?

    F4W/WON WWE Notes - September 9th - 15th

I've been pretty busy with work and other committments (many just entertaining myself offline) so if another subscriber wishes to pass along some notes this week (otherwise it will be a wait for a very untimely update from me) please go ahead. Thanks.

    Defend a game nobody likes

This is listing a game title, not defending a game. I implore you, defend this thing, because I cannot think of a single positive aspect about it. It's neat that they gave it three level variants - the first level where you're shooting things on what looks like a level design from Outrun looks pretty cool. The side-scrolling level where everything pushes you back half a screen is pretty annoying though. Andrew mentioned some pretty silly elements from Nitro that made it an amusing diversion. When I rented the game I was quite content to make people dance and wrestle in an arena full of mirrors. The "Run-In" button was kind of a neat idea (and very appropriate for a WCW game). Thunder, while awful, had those really, really funny wrestler videos. Another amusing diversion. I also remember that you could change everyone's faction alliance with the press of a button before a match - another neat idea that would have been well suited to a better game. WCW Mayhem was just as unfun to play as Thunder and Nitro, but by making it a more "serious" game in an attempt to make it better than the above failures, the only things that made the prior two games fun were removed. Having really bad matches on purpose so Heenan would start a boring chant was pretty funny, though.

    24/7 Shorties

I'm also fairly certain I saw a news piece about that angle on Entertainment Tonight. I remember telling my school yard chums that I saw video of Flair and Liz posing for those pictures so the whole "they were doctored" deal wasn't quite on the level.

    WWE Unforgiven 2008

    1. Cryme Tyme vs. Priceless © - World Tag Team Titles. 2. Maryse vs. Michelle McCool © - Divas Championship. 3. ECW Championship Scramble: The Miz vs. Finlay vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Matt Hardy vs. Mark Henry © 4. WWE Championship Scramble: THE Brian Kendrick vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. MVP vs. Jeff Hardy vs. HHH © 5. World Heavyweight Championship Scramble: JBL vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Batista vs. CM Punk © 6. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels - Round III for 2008 PPV. For those that need a refresher on the Scramble Rules: General Rules of the match: The match has a 20-minute time limit. Two randomly selected participants will start the match, with a new challenger entering the match every five minutes. If a Superstar scores a pinfall or submission on any other Superstar in the match, he is declared the "interim" champion for match purposes (and is not officially recognized as champion in the title history). He holds that designation until another Superstar scores a subsequent pinfall or submission on any other Superstar. The last Superstar to earn a pinfall or submission within the time limit will be officially declared the World Heavyweight/WWE/ECW Champion. Also, to save about 6 comments, a stream for the show is probably on that Justin guy's website like it is every month.

    Smackdown vs. Raw 2009: News/screens

That's pretty weak considering they were able to set Mania IX outdoors. Man, that was awesome having that classic arena and a blue steel cage. They shouldn't have dropped that concept.

Thanks. I slept in this afternoon then felt like watching a DVD and now I'm at work so it's slow going.

Well you can't edit out what doesn't happen anymore.

Live Free Or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) trailer

He's decided to take over where Vanhalen left off. He recently bumped a thread from 2005 about the Mega Man X collection to declare "I can't beat MMX3".

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

It's actually a pretty good special effect for the time. In contrast, Paul Bearer's wedding album is just clearly an empty book with forzen video captures superimposed on the television screen - that's a bad effect. There's a really bad green screen on the first Flair DVD where Jim Herd and Jim Ross are "in the control center", but when the camera zooms in on Herd, all of the TVs in the background move with the zoom.

    24/7 Shorties

The January 98 promo from Nitro featuring Flair and Bret is amazing stuff. The one where Mean Gene is in his dressing room (and Flair is decked out in a sweater, which seems like an odd visual) and Flair starts the Liz angle en route to Mania VIII is good stuff too.

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

I like how they replaced the Hulk Hogan Hotline number with a 24/7 info line (1-888-699-9324) which is kind of redundant for subscribers. Looks better than blurring it, though.

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

Well, they DID have ownership in Zubaz pants. Also mentioned on the show is "Jim Neidhart's return to the ring after being driven out of the broadcast booth by Bobby Heenan". I began watching wrestling shortly after Mania VII and don't recall this at all. Anytime we get to see the Savage/Liz reception is good times in my book. JJ Dillon is there!

    WWE Folder Classics

Here's a wacky idea I had recently. This could either be a big waste of time or a fun look into some past zaniness of the WWE folder - no way to know without trying! First up, something from my younger days that I'm not that thrilled I posted, but I think as soon as it was clear (about 5 posts in) that this was legit, it became pretty funny. The Death of Vader? I would like to make a note that I was being intentionally pretentious with one of my comments but for whatever reason didn't bother to defend that. I'm also happy with the way Bruiser Chong took the Simpsons quote set-up I left out there for someone to take. Also, please don't bump any of these.

    ECW on Sci-Fi - September 9, 2008

Maybe that means more Helms / Hardy matches. I'll never forget the beginning of this one match they had on SmackDown where helms turned his pre-match turnbuckle pose into a missile dropkick. It was great.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008

Yeah, I also couldn't resist that but for some reason I thought I had the line wrong and edited it out of my post. Has anyone accused Haas of being the dude pretending to be the dude that's pretending to be the other dude yet?

Maybe Jesse and Festus wheel him out to a shiiping box labeled 'FCW'.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008

It's in the ECW thread. Kind of sounds like a technical glitch but we'll see.
