WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

The Sunflower schedule lists them as showing up on August 21st. -
Meltzer's wording makes it sound like he injured himself by not showing up for a Best Buy autograph signing, but yeah.
-
Cogeco sent me TWO postcards telling me to order this show (and reminding me that September is Forever Flair month in WWE 24/7). One I can ignore, but TWO? It would be downright rude to not order the show now.

It's a shame Martel and Hart were never at the same level where they could have had an extended feud (Bret always seemed to be a rung above where The Model character was in the early 90s). A few non-televised IC title matches in 1992 was as close as they came (from what I recall). I actually remember watching the clips of the build-up angle to SummerSlam 92 where Michaels cost Martel his match with Bret - I was actually thinking "Hart's in the Boston Crab! The Model was going to win!". I was always a Ric Martel fan.

Second best Simpsons line ever. #1 either being "Delicious wine?" or "With good cause!". Seriously, THOSE are the lines I love.

Haven't had time to watch the show yet, but - and yes, I admit this is sad - I felt compelled to share my excitement that STING'S CLASSIC THEME~! is on 24/7. Hooray for WWE apparently acquiring the rights to it.

Are you sure? The thread title says "proved real".

That Goldberg edit was on the original SummerSlam 2003 DVD too. Big difference there is not only was St. Anger kept, but they had a "thank you" at the end AND the music video. No loss though. Marvelous Marc Mero's theme is awesome, though so that's too bad but really, this sort of thing is not the end of the world.

This Colbert vs. Canton deal is some excellent business. I love the reactions of 'shocked' Canton residents when their version of Canton gets "attacked". Reminds me of a Word segment that listed Windsor, Ontario as the worst place in the world. It made the front page of our paper with comments from the mayor and upset citizens.

Sure is a lot of Flair promos. No interest in Rumble 92 (I have i on VHS, DVD, plus the Rumble match on Flair's DVD) but a good Flair based show for anyone without it. Going by Cawthon's site, there is no September 1, 1991 Primetime (guessing a Tennis delay?) but 9/9/91 exists with Flair's debut. -
Listening to the Wednesday Wrestling Observer radio show, it seemed Colin's days were numbered. I don't think Dave or Bryan KNEW exactly, but somewhere in there the line "Colin couldn't get over in the role everyone can get over in" was used to explain why he's booked like a bum.

Celebrating his 24th year today is The Great Mazto. Huzzah! -
Must be the next episode since the current episode was taped. The way Lawler gets the Stunner is awesome.

Well this sounds interesting. What happened to that game? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbine_rpg

It's Capcom promotional artwork, apparently for a t-shirt. It's an incredible throwback either way. I like that he has the hand pistol, like the MM2 box art.

That's all I needed to hear. -
If they're going to be hardcore enough to debate whether a movie no one but them has heard of counts towards a contest to see who can watch the most 2008 releases, they're hardcore enough to track down Canadian DVDs. I say it does not count. Festival circuits are a bit iffy. It's easy enough to order a product from Amazon.ca to be shipped to the US but it's an entirely different animal to trek to a festival. I'm also only taking the 2006 stance because it certainly sounds like the geekiness of the competition would require such a strict technicality. If someone said to me, "Hey DrVenkman! What was a really fun movie you saw in theatres in 2001?" and my answer of "Iron Monkey" was rejected because it was made in 1993, well, tough, 2001 was it's North American theatrical release. If I was in the business of making "Theatrical Films I Saw in XXXX", it would go in 2001.

My problem with Braid is the developers boycotted a game show / competition that pulled Super Columbine Massacre RPG. Seriously, free speech and that sort of thing is great, but there IS a line that was obviously crossed and no one should have felt compelled to defend such a ban. Also, the demo locked up on me within 30 seconds. All I did was enter a room and the screen went black forever.

AVGN's video made Return of the Joker seem damn near impossible.

Raw was pretty good this week (El Pantera!) but truly THIS was the highlight: I'm still laughing about it. If this wasn't edited out by TSN, I can't believe I forgot such a thing. Or maybe I can.
