Back to my Super Channel rant and it ruining The Movie Network's monopoly on films, there's a movie on right now called "Vampiro: Angel, Devil Hero". "Profiling Ian Hodgkinson, also known as the pro wrestler "El Vampiro Canadienese", in this documentary directed by Lee Demarbre (2008)". Never heard of that.

This message isn't very coded. Though I initially assumed Fentz's source was a sleepy Honky Tonk Man spending the night on his couch, I now think it's JN News' MSN contact.
-
My answer was a joke in reference to the same.

This seems ripe for a General spin-off discussion.

My mistake. I knew it was Dirty White Boy (which is why I found the dirty comment funny) but I typed the wrong name as I've been apt do do lately.
-
The source was likely Wayne Ferris.

The Raw on 24/7 right now introduces Tracey Smothers (who is referred to as "real dirty boy" or something like that made me laugh) as Uncle Cletus. I did not recall that stint at all. I remember Dutch Mantel as Uncle Zebekiah... but that was as Bradshaw's manager. Maybe I DID remember the Uncle Cletus character but had his name wrong.

Pineapple Express and Step Brothers (and possibly Tropic Thunder) are movies I've seen that style of ad for.

This would have been 1993 in Southern Ontario, before TSN picked the show up.

If it was anything else, it probably would. Not terribly concerned with ECW's late slip. Back in the day I remember watching Monday Night Raw on SATURDAY afternoon on CHCH.

I don't know if it's because I have DSL instead of cable (and Cogeco ads for cable internet often called DSL "half-speed internet") or just a lack of anything resembling a video card on my computer, but I have a difficult time watching the high quality videos without them just chugging along at a choppy pace. I still enjoy the service but I imagine I'd be wild about it if the Raw episodes streamed flawlessly for me in high quality.

I watched an episode of ECW on TV for the first time ever this weekend (hooray DVRs!) only to find that Global HD doesn't actually air the HD feed of the show. What the hell, Global?

I watched a full episode of Impact for the first time in... hmm... I don't want to say "ever", but that first episode on Spike was one of the first and only times I watched a full episode. The key is I finally got a DVR so that has become a great help (I watched ECW's Friday night broadcast in Canada for the first time ever and a full SD episode for the first time in ages too). TNA certainly doesn't make things easy on casual viewers - if I didn't know better (and I actually don't...), I would have assumed Booker was the champion. The announcers never mentioned it wasn't his belt. I enjoyed the MCM vs. Creed/Lethal match, but at the same time did not - I guess it's TNA's style and I'm sure I'm going to sound too "WWE", but doing killer moves that AREN'T the finish, then finishing with something simple like a roll-up (I don't recall the exact finish) doesn't help any of the moves get over. The sunset flip backbreaker / senton tandem move should have the finish, but it wasn't, it was just another move and it was quickly forgotten and probably not even replayed. MAKE THINGS MEAN SOMETHING. I really did enjoy the match though. The F4W Bryan and Vinny recap of the show was pretty funny and quite negative, and while I didn't think it was THAT bad, I really have nothing in context to compare it to. The main event was really stupid though and once again was an excellent showcase of how TNA refuses to have things mean something. The PPV is all hardcore / weapons based, so they do stupid gimmick matches on TV that don't set it apart from a show we're supposed to pay to see. I still can't believe they did not one but two glass table spots on free TV - it seems pretty damned simple to build and tease that for a big PPV spot people would pay to see, but then it might mean something and that can't happen. Karen's segment annoyed me about 4 seconds and quickly became a fast forward moment. That said, I do look forward to catching the good match TNA accidentally books for Impact from time to time now.

Audible "bullshit" chant from the crowd, too.

I hate these new movie ads that have the film letterboxed with either a red or yellow/orange line on the top border stating the movie's title and release date (or "In theatres now" if it's out). These look incredibly minor league and resemble something you would see on channel 1 in a hotel room a decade ago.

Now Dynamite Kid (with a CAPE~!) is wrestling Jerry Valiant. Same red style tights as Davey Boy (but wacky lightning designs) but no mention of a connection between the two yet, so I guess they hooked up as a team sometime in the next few weeks? Dynamite does that front handstand flip after the match - I always thought it was really cool when Bulldog did that during his mid 96/97 heel run but didn't make a DK connection.

Woah, a not yet British Bulldog "Davey Boy Smith" vs some guy named Goldie Rogers! I enjoy seeing guys on shows before their big gimmicks took place.

24/7 Online is available to everyone with an internet connection, champ, no matter where you live. Unless you're referring to broadband capabilities.

Oh... I misread 1988 as 1998 and was really confused at the prospect of Big Jos LeDuc and Frenchy Martin taking the Attitude era by storm. 1988 makes more sense.

Maria being stupid again was good stuff in my book.

Oh by the way, he tells two versions, not that many. I would have preferred more, but I guess they didn't want to make a gag of it. But I do find the Joker a sympathetic character, as, you know, he doesn't have to be vulnerable to be lonely and tormented. He was going to tell a third to Batman.

Jos LeDuc was a Headbanger in 1998?

I think this thread is supposed to be serious business, guys. I didn't think a thread asking internet nerds how strong they were could be such a thing, but a bunch of real talk eclipsed what should have been praise for a reference to "The Mighty Hercules".

After seeing that, I just imagine people in all kinds of disguises persuading Vince to do stupid things. Just to clarify, I meant "Shannon's wife from the make-up department", not his wife in some undercover disguise that involved make-up
