Sidekick named for "Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien"
DrVenkman PhD replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
I've always wanted to see the Yokozuna interview. I don't remember which PPV (Mania IX?) but one of them from 1993 has a reference to Yokozuna being on Conan. -
Who on earth is Peter Bone?

Yeah, it's really confusing and I can't possibly tell what fan base they were trying to appeal to. It's always been my understanding that WCW fans were not Federation fans because WCW had always been "the wrestling" company. Changing direction to straight up 'sports entertainment' alienates the previous fanbase, but it comes off as 2nd rate sports entertainment compared to what McMahon was doing, so it's not going to steal away any of the Fed fans either. It's beating a dead horse, but it's really no wonder this company went out of business (and how sad it is that a lot of the above could be describing TNA right now too).

Mean Gene repeatedly referred to it as the "Rumble Royal" in 1988. -
It's funnier with the quotes.

From the Observer: "Sim Snuka was saved because he’s among many still under consideration for an announcing position on the WGN show." They also confirmed Prinze did leave - Stephanie tried to get him to stay in was actually about to offer him a promotion when he mentioned he was planning on giving notice. He apparently helped WWE at a Hollywood party last week though, so it's hoped he can still stay cool with the company. -
I was going to cap these, but you beat me to it. Sadly the DVD (I think) lacks the part where she drops the pumpkin and has to pick it up.

Everything - including ass, which had gone unbleeped most of the show outside of a few exceptions - is bleeped and that is naturally to be expected. It's a funny tirade though. Tony referred to the opening bout as the "opening sports entertainment contest". I laughed. That came after a conversation where Madden said Major Gunns and Tygress should be allowed to stay at ringside and/or remove their tops since it's PPV, Scott Hudson said "This is wrestling! That's what it says on the maruqee!", and Madden corrected him to say it's "sports entertainment".

Too Many Sarah's That one isn't really a joke, there have just been way too many people in my life named Sarah.

Right before we stopped getting the national TBS in Canada, I did enjoy the Office commercial that sung "TBS" to the Office theme.

Should I be happy? Or are they making stuff up? That newsbit is based on an off the cuff remark Meltz made on the Monday night audio update, right down to the "which is sad". The only difference is Meltz said they "have no confidence in him" (his wrestling ability), not they will be losing faith in the future. -

I did it with a Ghostbusters montage, it was pretty funny. -

I think his intros for some of the last episodes were pre-records - Conan was giving Joel a lot of praise but he was never shown on camera, making me think he just wasn't there. -

Yeah that was my take on him not going to LA. -
Arrested Development: The Movie

I enjoyed both Hot Rod and Semi-Pro, thanks largely to Will. But I have what the mainstream would call "poor taste" in films. It will also be socially acceptable to consider Alia Shawkat attractive now, so that's a plus for the movie. -
I thought this thread of was a parody of Spaceman "Roho" Ross (or maybe it was Sabre). I guess I was wrong.

The Mania build drew another 4.1 number for Raw, so that's good.

Fun fact: That interview was set up by Bryan Alvarez when CBS called him for suggestions (they wanted Jake Roberts, but Chico informed them he's a bit of a liar). -
Confirmation of what? That was announced last week.

Going by wikipedia, I share a birthday with Chris Benoit, Nancy "Woman" Daus, Judge Reinhold and Mr. T!

I'm one of them (well I don't get angry) and I should have known better. I'm glad that Coliseum Video tag match (Flair/Michaels vs. Savage/Bret) is on the DVD. That's one of those wacky "Jim Ross calls a match where Bret Hart is the IC champ / a 1992 Flair match" deals that should never exist but Coliseum Video makes it happen.

Oh, sorry. I only saw the image of the DVD cover. Ah, I see what the problem was - I saw someone's comment about deluxe edition Mania DVDs and assumed it was old, but it was a reply. My mistake.

If you've never seen the listed Savage vs. Michaels match, don't get excited about seeing some lost gem. It's generic heel Michaels offense vs. Selling an injured knee Randy Savage.
