The Pitfall level in Marvel: UA is a fun diversion. The sound effect for vine swinging is greatness. Watching the trailer for Spider-Man 3 at the movies last night, I had an odd lapse where the Spider-Man font reminded me of the PS3 instead of vice-versa. Damn you, Sony!

The One and Only "Casino Royale" Thread

Saw it yesterday; for a movie that's been out almost 2 months (somehow in my head I thought it had only been a few weeks), there was a nice amount of people in the theatre. I enjoyed it but agree it was a but lengthy with some drag, but much, MUCH better than DaD and especially TWINE (my least favourite of the 'modern' era). Some of the people I was with complained about the length and the lack of Q and/or gadgetry, but it was enjoyed by all. It was weird not having it follow normal guidelines and formula but of course that also made it very interesting. A few funny things happened at the showing I went to - despite the fact every commercial and trailer before was in perfect colour, people were murmuring about something being wrong due to the black and white opening (even I was briefly - the studio logo being in B&W was a bit odd) but most figured it was the way it was made and rolled with it. One person did leave the theatre and I can only assume it was to ask someone about the colour. The next incident happened after . A family seemed to think that was the ending and all left.

    Rocky VI Officially Greenlit

Saw it Thursday night (and Bond on Friday, finally catching up on movies I wanted to see while I had time and an available friend) and enjoyed it. It's a bit odd that in a movie that exists for nostalgia they limited the amount of it in the film, but it's not as if not having Rocky visit Apolo's grave, Clubber Lang in attendance, Thunderlips revealed as an adult film director (what Sly said to Hogan on WWE.com), or Rocky making a hospital visit to a dying (of AIDS) Ivan Drago (something I read on wikipedia) made the film any better or worse. I enjoyed the fight and the build to it. Hearing Dixon's managers discuss PPV buys and marketing angles was something I found interesting too, probably the WON reader in me.

I recap I read did not seem to mention RVD/Holly or the superior RVD/Test match at all. WWE.com promises big announcements in the coming days, one from a house show tomorrow night (so you know that's probably nothing other than a PPV announcement for Jersey or something similar, but we'll see) and Teddy Long apparently has something to say about the Royal Rumble and the World Championship this Friday.

    WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007

The key to beating the challenges is to go into options and change all the AI sliders to zero. Even the secret last challenge - Mickie James vs Great Khali - is fairly easy like that. Still can't win a Legend MITB match though.
  6. VCR is a tad harsh (why they would think his store with no VCRs has one is another story), the Perfect Dark story is warranted. It sounds like he ran the type of business where he orders a small amount of games to sell and rent plus extra for customers who pre-order, so it's not like he had extra copies for this cheap bastard.
  7. Well, at least now I can click on the last post link without being denied, but I still don't know why I have this stupid thread format that causes anyone I ask about it to think I'm crazy (edit: which is now fixed). I don't feel like clicking on the individual links to see what people have said (although I read most of this thread fine at work, since I wasn't logged in) but I read a good article - either in EGM or on 1up.com - about the problems with places that bug you about offers. I can also relate with the person that mentioned not having near the problems people in the states complain about in Canada; the EB Games here does ask you about their game insurance policy and remind you to give them used games, but often while going through the process of ringing up your order and not disrupting your consumerage in any way. In contrast, when I was in Dearborn, MI, just stepping foot into an EB Games that was already full of people resulted in the clerks talking to me - from the register, while I was at the entrance - about pre-ordering and trading in. That Gord site is awesome but has one of those unhappy endings where I see the man has a store, see him talking about GST and PST and realize this is a Canadian store I might possibly be able to visit someday... then realize these are tales of a store not in business. Also, he hates Nintendo (boy would Anya have loved this store). An interesting (sort of) point is I am picturing this store to look very similar to a local store here (Game City) although it sounds a bit bigger. Anyway, at least in the 90s, Game City did mod PS1s, persumably because they felt it would help the rental aspect of their business. I see Gord's point, but it's not out of the question that rental business can pick up to the point of off setting the decline of game buyers due to people being able to 'own' every game they rent, but I guess his policy of $1 per day rentals (as opposed to a mandatory $5 flat rate) would work against him there.

    IP Board v2.2 Upgrade Issues

Ok, so now if I click to read the last post in a thread, I get this lovely message: "Sorry, some required files are missing, if you intended to view a topic, it's possible that it's been moved or deleted. Please go back and try again." If I click on the link to the original thread, it shows the first post, then a big list of people that replied with a snippet of said reply. This is quite awful. Edit: Not sure how it happened, but I saw the display options at the top of a thread and fixed the problem.

Since getting 24/7 in August and watching old Prime Time's, I noticed that a banner that seems to say nothing more than "Superstars of Wrestling" is blurred out. I couldn't figure out why as it does not appear to say "WWF" on it, but I thought little of it. In watching the 1989 Prime Time Christmas special, I noticed that during a 'split screen' segment, the background had an anachronistic Superstars logo from the mid 90s with the new generation era WWF logo. Curious, I checked the Wikipedia entry for "WWF Superstars" and apparently there is a copyright problem with the name "Superstars of Wrestling".

    The OaO Raw Thread 12/18/2006

Does Conway have different hair from his last Raw appearances, looking similar to how he did in La Resistance, or was I confused with Johnny? I didn't even realize he was in there until it was mentioned here. As someone who, when hearing about Ken Doane in OVW, assumed he was related to Jack Doan somehow, I see the reason for the name change and approve it. They even made a clear point of saying "Jack Doan, referee for this contest" on commentary as if to point out to people who would ask about the name change that there was a valid reason.

And of course, the best song from Mega Man X - Storm Eagle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtb_Dz-xNnk Seems this DManator character has a whole bunch of guitar rocking songs.

    Time's Person of the Year

Czech beat me to the Simpsons reference (which is odd since he called me out on making a "cliche overused refernece" when I made a Simpsons quote about something in the summer). Anyway, I don't know why people are acting like this is the craziest thing ever and a clear sign the title should be retired. The American soldier (known as 'fighting man' back in the day) was MOTY in 1950, long before 2003. This is more or less the computer's second Man of the Year announcement, 26 years after being called such in 1980. However, this is funny: "The hardcover version has a reflective Mylar surface in place of the computer screen, meant to reflect the reader's face"

WWE.com has learned that on a special three-hour edition of Raw that begins at 8/7 CT, "Rocky Balboa" star Sylvester Stallone will make a rare appearance this Monday night and grant WWE an exclusive interview. What will the hard-hitting celeb have to say on this unprecendented and historic occasion?

Regal's "Narcissist / WrestleMania IX Roman Theme Remix" theme that he used very briefly in late 2001 before it got changed to that cool "dark" music is really good, but I can see why they changed it as it's not entirely character appropriate. The later version worked better.

4 times, I believe, but yeah - not very often. He was in the "Weapons Battle Royal" from the first show, jobbed to Knox on June 27th, jobbed to RVD sometime in August, and jobbed to Punk in October.
