I think the Simpsons quote I used summed it up nicely though.

"My ABCs" seemed to me like it was supposed to air as the season premiere but had some clumsy ADR to place it later in the season (both times by Elliot). Maybe that's just me though.

I do like the bit of Orton's previous theme that fades into Voices.
-
Dusty Rhodes is very pro-Dandy. "He's the only guy I know or recognize!" Next week begins the International theme.
-
Monsoon: "I think he [shawn Michaels] just said 'I won the one that counts!'". Ha! Mo should have been eliminated in 2 seconds again.

They did that on the first Rey DVD in 2003 too.

Ongoing ECW Spoilers for Jan 27, 2009

I thought that was the name. -
The Overdrive / Playmaker / Whatever is one of the worst finishers ever. I don't know why Johnny Ace thinks it's such a great move to assign people. Does anyone remember when Orton was taking on the Un-Americans in a handicap match and there was apparently some miscommunication with Christian taking the move? Orton went through all his required motions to hit the move and Christian just stood there bent over. It was great.

That doesn't answer VX's question, though I suppose you could argue it was rhetorical.

I'm not too crazy about DCH ripping off our "The Victory" joke.

WWE Fans: "Why did Mr. Smith Shane McMahon kill everybody?" WWE Writers: "It was symbolism. He was mad"

The Fight Network ticker said Ric Flair was confirmed as inducting Austin, but I don't know where they get half of these things. Last week it said The Funks were officially announced as going in. Officially announced where?

But he did.

Ongoing ECW Spoilers for Jan 27, 2009
DrVenkman PhD replied to Thanks for the Fish's topic in The WWE Folder
Wow, ECW not only gets a spoiler thread but an ON-GOING spoilers thread this week? Teddy Long has already shown to be inept with contracts (see: Kelly Kelly going to Raw) so it fits his character. Like others have said, all it really means if they didn't feel like wasting Matt's explanation on ECW. I was going to say ArmDrag Fan, as the former Canadian Dragon, possibly dated this thread as the 30th because that's when it airs in Canada, but I'll change it. -
The 1995 Superstars match... does that involve Lawler hopping around on one foot on the floor?
-
I also enjoyed that publication, but got a bit annoyed when they'd run a negative review for Perfect Dark under the guise of "look at us, we have the balls to say this game sucks" then give a glowing review to Turok Rage Wars in the same issue.* *Dramatization - may not have happened.

MVP is the man in Detroit. We made sure to yell "BALLIN!" at the elbow drop, just like Mania 23.

Maybe it turns out Jeff was drunk in November and fell down the hotel stairs on his own, the hit and run was an accident, and no one tampered with the fireworks (it just looked that way due to some crew incompetence). Probably not. And because I'm my own biggest shill, my Rumble photos: http://flickr.com/photos/sgray21/sets/72157613011325162/ I was happy with how this one turned out (though out of focus) because at the time I thought I was just going to get a ref obstructed Conchairto shot.

He may be a treacherous heel, but he still loves America.

Alvarez pointed out that if they don't book it right, Matt's turn will be one of those TNA-like angles where if you sit back and look at the timeline, nothing makes sense (already noting if the jealousy aspect is supposed to date back to Survivor Series, why was Matt jealous when he was ECW champion and Jeff was nothing, and why didn't he just job to Kozlov so Jeff wouldn't have made it to Armageddon?) but I really am interested in what they do with it. It's kind of like the Shawn Michaels angle - it's weak on paper with many logic holes, but they do an awesome job working with it and it's really very interesting.

FOX Sunday Night 08/09 - now in HD!
DrVenkman PhD replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
On the topic of HD and Family Guy, when Seth was a guest on Letterman a few months ago they showed a clip that was 16:9 with no apparent stretching (and normally if they don't have 16:9 clips, they put a border up anyway). I thought that was odd. -
bob_barron was post #666. It all comes together. Anyway, I'm just going to copy my live notes from the F4W feedback: There were no tarped areas (except production) and every seat looked filled (or at the very least, purchased, possibly for the purpose of re-selling, with no one showing up). The dark match was Paul Burchill losing to Jimmy Wang Yang via the moonsault. People seemed into Jimmy, either because the were or he was the first guy out of the gate. The usual WWE corporate video aired though the message from George W. Bush was added in since the last time I saw it. Some of the most heat of the night right there (though Obama got a good pop). After the PPV intro, nothing happened until Matt's entrance. I don't know what was happening on TV, but since I don't recall seeing the usual announcer banter welcoming viewers to the show, I'll assume that was going on. There was another odd arena moment where the "Rumble Stats" video package cut out in the middle, everyone booed, then Justin Roberts announced the rules. Did this happen on TV? I often find this hard to judge because it varies by section, but these were chants I thought were very loud: 1. RVD (pop of the night). 2. Santino (at one point during the Women's Title Match, he motion over the the people cheering him to be quiet, almost out of character, like "I'm a heel, guys", but then a few minutes later encouraged it). 3. "We Want Christian" in the opening seconds of Edge/Jeff. It seemed to start from the upperdeck, but as soon as I could hear it on the floor I joined in, then most of the floor section I was in seemed to be doing it to. 4. Jim Duggan - this guy seemed over to a frightening degree live. Kids, old people - you name it. I don't know if that came across on TV, but his elimination seemed to get the second most amount of boos (RVD's elimination getting the most). 5. Orton winning the Rumble. Even the kids who aren't into cheering the heels were going banana over this one.
-
The kid in front of me gave me the weirdest look for cheering JBL. I tried to explain to him that I wanted to see Shawn Michaels in the Rumble.

WWE.com was kind enough to do Rumble stats. http://www.wwe.com/shows/royalrumble/participants09/

FOX Sunday Night 08/09 - now in HD!
DrVenkman PhD replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
Exactly. It's a movie from 1994 about two teens who get lost in their own imaginary world before plotting to kill their parents, which is what last night's episode was about. Minus the killing. It's also based on a true story.
