Lifted this from the ealry Heat report on Observer: "Backstage, Maria is with Rob Conway. He says he CONned the fans for the last two years. He doesn't care about the French. He's the CONman. He'll do things the CONway." Thoughts?

The "Game Over / Continue" screen in the arcade Ninja Gaiden is one of the best ever. I look forward to (maybe) seeing it in the Easy version of the Xbox game (with unlockable Arcade game) that comes out this year.... .... that is the game with the whrilling saw blade coming down on you, right?

There were quite a few rumours going around at the time (late 03) that Nash was going to be the one responsible for taking the bounty on Goldberg and then go on to face him at Survivor Series..... instead we got another boring injured HHH wrestles for to long match that could have easily been changed to Goldberg/Batista to tie in with the bounty story line and give a non HHH main event.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In fairness, my memory recalls this match as being about 10 minutes [looked it up - 11:41] (though I'm sure that was a time constraint issue, not a "HHH wants to wrestle Goldberg in a shorter match to put him over" issue) with WWE heavily putting Goldberg over and impressing Dave Meltzer to no end.

Tough break for anyone that dumped Masters... if I had just dumped Juvi and Maria I could have put him on and made double the points (since Angle and Maria were my only Raw people). Oh well, I'm glad Angle made 3 appearances and won a speciality match with a finisher (with another finisher execute). Hopefully things go well with SmackDown, Velocity, and The Bash.

Doug Basham being 28 surprises me because I read reports of him being in the USWA in 1994.

Vengeance estimated buyrate
DrVenkman PhD replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
I would imagine that ONS would sell well on DVD to the casual fan. I suspect casual fans don't buy wrestling DVDs outside of the always sucessful WM DVDs but ONS is a different case. Ordering PPVs is a different story. -
I just recently found Hassan was born in 1981 (same as me) when I checked his profile at Obsessed With Wrestling. His gimmick, look, and attire make him seem much older. Ditto for Daivari (no idea he was only 20). As for Stephanie not being 28, assuming I've done my math correct, she turned 25 around Unforgiven 2001 ("I asked how old you were going to be, not how many guys you slept with this week") so she would be 28 at this point in time (29 in September). I figured Benoit and Regal had to be getting older, but I often forget that people age.

I suppose there haven't been that many mindless 3D "beat everyone up on screen and continue" 3D games lately, but they seemed all the rage in the late 90s / early 00s and that's what I was refering to (Fighting Force, Die Hard Arcade, State of Emergency... more recently the TMNT games from what I understand). IF you remove leveling up and armor and magic from the equation, you can make the argument that your Dark Alliance, Dark Alliance II, Champions of Norath, Bard's Tale, etc. fall under the same rule. Basically, an updated DD would be cool if it was more than beating people up and leveling up. Does that clarify things, Andy?

Was anybody let down that Peter didn't run for mayor?

SS, CV is watching the FG rerun at 9:30. There was no reference in the new episode so you missed nothing. The Quagmire stuff was great, as was the tastelessly hilarious scene with Peter doing comedy for sick kids.

I remember that. The audience even liked it. :lol <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually remember him doing that one one of the first Velocity shows against Randy Orton. He won me over with that despite me having no idea who he was. WWE then proceeded to use that spot 50 more times in 2002 and it became less cool.

Did pre-empted Futurama episodes air as scheduled on the West Coast? I always hated the east coast logic (which is currently killing / has killed King of the Hill) where if a football game ends at 7:05 or so, instead of saying "well that's it, catch the highlights on the news, which will be delayed by X minutes" and geting to TV, they spend 20 minutes showing viewers what they already saw and eliminating the 7pm TV show. Frustrating. Maybe if I liked football I would understand the need for post game babble. My only problem with this DTV movie (and same with Family Guy) is I don't care for the prospect of spending approx. $20 for 90 minutes of material when the TV show box sets contained hours of material for $30-$40, depending on when or where they were purchased. Looking forward to it anyway, though.

I seem to recall hearing about Ed O'Neil being in a serious dramatic role that failed miserably because when he was first seen on screen the audience reaction was to laugh at Al Bundy. I tend to typecast people as the first role I saw them in. Michael McKean will always be Fred, the low life from Short Circuit 2 with a heart of gold, to me... although his turn as Mr. Ditmeyer in the Brady Bunch movie was really good at almost replacing that. Harold Ramis is Egon Spengler and nothing else.

Vengeance estimated buyrate
DrVenkman PhD replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
As stated above, Scherer is just jumping to conclusions and Meltzer is probably right. While I have no doubt that such a thing (ONS having more buys than Vengeance) would concern HHH, I would hope the company, as a whole, realizes that money is money and PPV buys are PPV buys no matter how you get them or what the top match is. That being said, it would be pretty retarded for a company that is public and sells stocks dependant on how well they are doing to lie or withold PPV sales so before anyone decides to claim that WWE is making the ONS buyrate up, please keep the above in mind. -
I could never pass the first level. (by the way, that should be "A Week of Garfield" but all I see is "User Posted Image") A new Double Dragon would be good if it could be more than a generic 3D beat-em up.

Benoit/Regal should feud over the US title going into SummerSlam. Not that I approve of Benoit being moved down to US title status or anything, but it's not a horrible idea.
-
"WrestleMania XX Spoiler: HHH WINS" was pretty funny when it first appeared. Of course over a year later someone on IRC still has it in her quit message and I find it very irritating since he did end up doing the job.

Didn't think I'd see Benoit in that hold post neck-surgery.

I turned the other way to do something on the computer and heard Josh say "Dragon Suplex!". Damnit!
-
Jake would be good and I could see that one happening this year. I hope the Warrior rumour pans out this year.
-
"Meltzer Loves This!" Nice sign.
-
He didn't shill the recent re-release of his movie on DVD.
-
Simon Dean vs Blue Meanie would be a feud.

I liked RE:A for having the "look at us we're really filming this in Canada and are making no effort to hide this from Canadians!" stuff that I, as a Canadian, always enjoy seeing. The particular scene in that film would be the gunfight in front of a Pizza Pizza restuarant that doesn't even exist in the US (though some people in the States become confused and think you're talking about Little Caesers).
