Super Mario Bros. DX or Re Release of Original?
DrVenkman PhD replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in Video Games
Off topic, to this day I do not understand why the Zelda games didn't get an All-Star 16-bit treatment. I mean, now that "All-Stars" updates for the Mario games are 11 years old, I can look back and realize I like the originals better for their "charm" (for lack of a better word to say "old 8 bit graphics"), but I think it would be awesome to at least try a version of the original Zelda that looks like A Link to the Past. I heard something about that existing in Japan via satellite gaming, but I figure now, with the GBA, a really great looking update could be made. -
So I speant 200 dollars on tickets today...

Super Mario Bros. DX or Re Release of Original?
DrVenkman PhD replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in Video Games
This is a pure guess, but since it's not "Mario Advanced 5: Super Mario Brothers" but simply "Super Mario Brothers", I would assume it's an exact port where you are Mario. In a somewhat annoying move, GameFAQS doesn't seem to care to add an entry into the GBA area for these NES Classic games. While I understand that it would be viewed as unnecessary, it would be nice if they put them there anyway just so there was a specific area to discuss matters like this. Oh well. People apparently talk about the GBA port in the NES section... -

What's the current opinion on Nintendo's latest angle of using 4 different workers to play the Link character at the same time? So far from what I've seen, it's resulting in tremendous, "old school" style work from this stable that's really enjoyable.

If Piper is in again, hopefully they realize he is not even close to being a cruiserweight.

Let's not forget when Pac-Man was booked as a guy who the audience was encouraged to sling rocks at in order for him to change his mood. Then they have his character do vignettes where his wife forces him to go get milk and do all the chores.
-
Hope THQ gives the Legends proper entrances, otherwise they'll just be a group of guys I never use again (save for Old School Undertaker, who I use quite often in HCTP).

I love the absolute and total difference in ratings reporting from PWI and Meltzer. Meltzer reported the same rating, but went on to say "This rating is quite good for being up against the NBA Finals and the MTV Movie Awards (which cut into SD's rating every year)."
-
Well a month ago they were saying the movie itself was in doubt anyway.

That list also doesn't mention my 2nd favourite segment (1st being the Scorpion King): King of the Ring 2002, where Goldust immitates The Rock, only to have The Rock intervene and be hilarious.

Toad needs to learn to work the Nintendo style or he'll be Bowser's job boy forever.

It was an Iron Claw into an STO (Kenzo's finisher, that is)

I nominate "Who Ya Gonna Call?"

I don't believe he wrestled until the 2002 Royal Rumble. He wrestled very rarley before the brand extnetion, at which point he turned heel and feuded with Steve Austin, as well as having a match against Hulk Hogan for the WWE title. I believe his one and only SmackDown match would have been the very last full roster SmackDown!, with Ric Flair and Triple H vs Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon. It would appear Flair's first wrestling match on Raw this millennium would be May 6, 2002, when Scott Hall, The Big Show, and X-Pac fought to a No Contest against Ric Flair, Steve Austin, and Bradshaw. I believe Flair turned heel to manage the nWo to make the result a No Contest, as the next week he wrestled Hogan for the title.

Let's not forget Mario's years of being into bigamy. I heard rumours that during the 80s he accidentally killed Pauline while coked up, but I believe she was found to be alive when Mario went chasing her skirt again in 1994. On the surface it appears Mario seems to have finally kicked her to the curb, and with Luigi hooking up with Mario's "Land" flame Daisy, Mario is only with Peach now, but you never know if he's screwing over his brother by seeing his women on the side.

While Mortal Kombat is a very good game, I think that Donkey Kong is the best game ever. "Donkey Kong sucks" YOU SUCK. Btw, I recommend the Atari 2600 DK over any Nintendo release. Just check out the awesome: DK 2600!

Super Mario Bros. DX or Re Release of Original?
DrVenkman PhD replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in Video Games
If I buy either, I'll probably be an absolute moron about it and fall for Nintendo's "Old School" ad campaign about these games, go buy the Retro GBA SP (I currently have the old arctic one), Mario, and Zelda. However, if being Old School isn't important, it's probably more financially sound to find the GBC version. In 1999, it was being called a perfect port (and it should have been... SMB is 20 years old now) so, without reading any reviews or things of that nature, I have no idea how the new release of it could be any different. -
This one is my favourite... http://auction.wwe.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/...&aunbr=50446121

Well, taking guesses at the card.... Benoit/HHH (HHH wins back the title) Benjamin vs Orton (Orton loses the belt) Edge/Christian vs Jericho/Partner (total guess) Tag title match. So, although it's total guessing, the Raw side looks good. SmackDown... Eddie Guerrero vs Mark Jindrak (please no!) Los Guerreros defending the tag titles Mordecai vs Undertaker Cena vs. Booker T (Bash rematch) Whether this card actually happens remains to be seen, but it looks like no matter what really happens, the Raw side should carry the show to decent - good levels, and should be exciting live. If Mordecai vs. Undertaker happenes, while the match will more than likely suck to the viewer at home, I'd be marking like a... um, mark for those entrances live.

Yeah, I know, but he said "Canada" specifically was the problem, not travelling to different locales across the US. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it. He said something, I chose to take it in a way I was pretty sure he didn't mean, he elaborated, I asked another question that I imagine the answer is no to again.

I figured as much. However, I ask, if SummerSlam was at Jou Louis Arena in Detroit, would you go? Because it's like, 15-30 extra minutes to fly to Toronto.
-
Well I was told the password is Toronto, and there are some not bad (in the corner) $75 seats available, but no $95 or $55 ones (I'm assuming due to pre-sale limits). This doesn't help me at all anymore, though, since my wrestling fan friend didn't realize tickets went on sale so soon (nor did I until I saw the ticker notice on Raw), thus he was not monetarilly ready for this. Don't make me wack you upside the head with a hockey stick, Rico. Canada rocks!
-
I was all set to go until I found out tickets were already on sale (if you have a password, which I don't - tomorrow in that case). By the time I get around to picking them up, only shit might be left. I've never been to the ACC, so I don't know if it's one of those "Even bad seats are good" arenas or not. I'm also concerned that, this being Toronto and all, the excited fans will sell this bitch out.
