They're just being cheap, like when they replace 6 different entrance themes on one PPV (Backlash 03). This doesn't appear to be mentioned above, but PWI (the sucessor to the now worse than ever 1wrestling) mentioned Greg Valentine as a Hall of Fame inductee. Now when I started watching wrestling in 1991, he was a jobber. I know he was the IC champ in 1985, and he lasted a long time in a Rumble, but was he really ever over enough / exciting enough / important enough to warrant this?

I noticed that while Amazon now has the Cena cover and pre-order up, there is still nothing about the Angle DVD. The interesting thing is that the Angle DVD, which was announced way back with a DVD calendar with No Mercy's DVD, was supposed to come out on March 2nd.. the same day Cena's recently announced DVD is coming out. I noticed a similar occurence as the calendar said "The Rock's Greatest Hits" would be released on January 20th, but instead "Mick Foley's Greatest Hits (And Misses)" was released. While I agree with striking the iron while it's hot and releasing a Cena DVD while he's popular (get over it, folks), I didn't think it would be at the expense of Angle.

Sounds like the DVD will include the 6-man from Heat, but it's kinda vague.

I called the number on ShopZone. It took 10 business days. The number was given to me via an IRC link and I can't seem to manually find it on ShopZone.. sorry. I know it's there somewhere though.

Your saved money may cost Eddie his push. Way to f'n go, Chris. Buy the DVD when it comes out and support Eddie's push. It's cheaper than the PPV and should in theory still help out Eduardo's cause. A bit off topic, anyone know if there wil be a 2004 DVD collection thing? I received my POP for Vengeance today and it was the most embarassing thing.. WWE sent it to me in a handwritten addressed envelope that spelled Canada "Canand" and looked really sloppy.

Vince kinda implied Eric vs Vince is happening on Raw next week... which is good, but it also makes my prediction from last week about it being at WM wrong... and I hate being wrong.

If I didn't make my thread start off with an elaborate 'joke', I would have been first. Damnit damnit damnit damnit DAMNIT. Oh well. It's probably Lesnar/Goldberg, but I've hyped myself up that he's made a deal with the WWF to regain those initials.. hence, "Where it all begins.. AGAIN".

Shit I got beat.

Probably a rematch.

So Batman will be the original Tuxedo Mask dub voice, eh? *kicks my own ass for knowing that*
-
Somewhat related, remember the Austin vs Vince rumours? Anyone think that the angle with Vince being pissed at Bischoff on Raw (and subsequently more pissed this coming Monday after Goldberg shows up at No Way Out) is setting up a match between the two at Mania instead of the above rumoured match (for Eric to job in, of course)?

Remember EXTREME Ghostbusters? Do me a favour and please never make another GB toon again, that politically correct piece of junk almost ruined the whole legacy. Kevin Conroy as Batman > *

Sad to hear there will not be a Disc 3 rant.

Has Rey woere his Daredevil outfit outside of WMXIX?

Apologies if it's been covered... The following are the list of extras on the WWE Monday Night Wars DVD, which is scheduled to be released next Tuesday: *Stone Cold Steve Austin & Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (Austin and Michaels win titles, from Raw, 5/26/97) *Stone Cold Steve Austin stuns Mr. McMahon for the first time (09/22/97, from RAW at Madison Square Garden) *Jim Cornette commentary (10/27/97, from RAW) *Vince McMahon interview: "Bret screwed Bret" (11/17/97, from RAW) *Shawn Michaels & Triple H vs. The Legion of Doom (from RAW, 12/15/97) *D-X invades WCW (04/27/98, from RAW) *The last Nitro *nWo in the production truck (07/22/96) *Eric Bischoff challenges Vince McMahon (05/11/98) *Chris Benoit vs. Booker T (06/01/98) *Bill Goldberg vs. Hulk Hogan (Goldberg wins WCW World title, from Nitro, 7/6/98) *Ric Flair returns to WCW (094/14/98) *Rick Rude appears on Nitro and RAW on the same night (11/17/97)

The main feature ("The Monday Night Wars") is 88 minutes. Then the extras add another 86 minutes to make it about 3 hours (which, I understand, is the amount of footage you can put on a DVD before compressing the quality too much). I wouldn't be surprised if "The Final Nitro" is ripped right from the Flair DVD's chapter on it, myself.
-
Everyone was hoping that Flair segment was on the Flair DVD, so here it is. While I'm sure the feature is more revisionist history, it will probably be interesting. I haven't seen any of those matches (and I understand the tag title one is very good), and the Jim Cornette promo was awesome. I'll probably end up picking it up if I'm in Michigan from BEst Buy or whenever it comes out in Canada (late March).

Don't forget Nowinski's leave of absence occured after Teddy Long became his manager. Something is seriously messed up. Keep in mind Mack's been on the shelf for awhile now and will probably be back soon, and in the meantime Long still has Jazz.

Booker's theme is production music which needs to be paid for (If you check your SmackDown insturction book, it has the production name of the music and has to give credit for using it - which is why the game WMX8 did not - it's also been called 'Rap Sheet' and has been used o nthe TV show Kids in the Hall). Booker's theme was edited on home video release between Backlash and Bad Blood, but returned at SummerSlam (with Kane and RVD's themes as well - Vengeance was the DVD that started putting all the themes back after 3 months of dubbing). As Rico mentioned, the Dudleyz have been the sole dubbed over music exception lately. Well, Armageddon came out and we're back to generic Booker music, and the DVD was released after Booker switched to his Originals music, which pretty much spells out the fact that WWE have decided to make Can You Dig It his full time theme, not just a 4 week ad for the CD. Deon, did your copy of Vengeance have the POP? I was cutting them out one by one the other day and thought I had somehow lost my Vengeance one, then found out via IRC that I needed to call WWE and have them mail me one.

The Dames' Diatribe on WWE Raw - 2/2/04
DrVenkman PhD replied to The Dames's topic in The WWE Folder
I get that, and even I was a bit confused that until recently no one was complaining about what, in 1998, was largely shit on when it happened. The excuse I got on IRC (and from my pal Drew) was they didn't care since it was Old School Taker. I also feel that way and use that silly excuse I made to justify my marking out. -
The Dames' Diatribe on WWE Raw - 2/2/04
DrVenkman PhD replied to The Dames's topic in The WWE Folder
Sweet I'm first. Anyway Dames, the first HBK/Orton match was at Unforgiven, not Bad Blood. A clarification on the Henry thing and his match being short: Meltzer reported earlier in the day he suffered a shoulder injury at a house show (against Benoit), which was later brought up during Raw. I'm guessing they decided to put Henry out there in a short match and have Benoit's televised crossface be the cause of Henry's injury. I'm cool with that. How is Undertaker's act unbelievable or intelligence insulting? This isn't a movie being being post produced, this isn't an animated show or something with CGI effects. Your seeing things happen live, so they are believably happening. Clearly pyro and lighting guys are being paid a hefty some by Mark Calloway to play mind games with Kane, so it all makes sense. Feel free to mark out for the Old School. Good Diatribe, Dames. Looking forward to Ric Flair Part 3. -
I actually don't know what three he did commentary for (and thus was not positive it was him when I originally asked the question), but watching Vader vs Cactus this evening, it seemed the match was oddly silent commentary wise, with Tony doing it himself. Cactus vs Sting was done by Coach and Mick as a commentary gimmick. The only other WCW match (the Street Fight with the Nasty Boys), has Hennan and Tony and I recall no Ventura in 1994, so I don't know what the 3rd match he's edited off is. JHawk?
-
I love how "There is talk but we have no idea this if this will happen" becomes "It's going to be a ladder match".
-
This is all very interesting, but the world demands to kow who this mysterious person Meltzer is making references to in his WON previews, saying he is being erased from WWE DVD history. I'm guessing it's just Ventura.

Good, but metr0man's from 2002 is better.
