The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

I'm liking that all PPV sets, not just the big 4, have the correct chyron font for the entrances. A small thing, but very nice.

    The Simpsons, gay sex, Futurama...

I don't remember when but SLH was already turned gay. Also, Future Rod and Todd were also gay.

I think 'Also sprach Zarathustra' is public domain, they don't have to pay for it. Well up until Judgment Day 03, all commercial PPV releases by WWE (post WMX8) had to dub Ric Flair's 1992 theme over top of his current one. The WMX8 video game did the same thing.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

I think they have to pay for Flair's music, so any excuse to not use it (ie. Evolution theme) might keep it out. But here's hoping it's in.

The only real problem with the Facts in WM is that it looks out of place when time sensitive ones are used ('Mattitude will make WM a Success', 'This is Matt's 4th WM Appearance', 'Matt always got more Halloween candy than his brother')

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Well, going by WMXIX, there will be a database of real Matt facts (not sure how many) that randomly are used for his entrances. WMXIX sometimes uses 3 or 4 Matt facts in an entrance, and sometimes only 2. I would imagine it would be 2 at most in HCTP due to the patented "less than 1 minute" intros that the SD! series is known for.

So who will Goldbergs first opponent be?

I always assumed Goldberg would win the title at SummerSlam and feud with Kane for Unforgiven. Now, with the next PPV being SmackDown only, and Survivor Series being the rumoured "Trips gets his belt back" PPV, I think they'll just have Goldberg beat assorted upper midcarders / psudo-main event guys (starting tonight with Jericho) and squash jobbers as well (the above mentioned Richards, probably Mack again and Mark Henry to put over Berg's strength), with this leading to a big match on Raw against Kane, similar to how SD! promotes big episodes in their PPV downtime.

I'm glad Matt has his 100% real entrance. WMXIX's fake music (that they started in the wrong place) and Raw 2's no Matt facts at all entrance (from what I hear) had me worried, but as usual SmackDown shows me why it's my favourite wrestling game series.

    HHH vs. Chris Jericho

Their match on SmackDown! a few weeks before the above mentioned Hell in a Cell was also very good as I recall, with Jericho pinning HHH when he became distracted by Taker's theme song (which is clean in my books... HHH was just being a retard to turn around).

    Final WWE Unforgiven 2003 Card

Orton gets too much haterizing. This will be the first PPV since Judgment Day 2003 that I am scheduled to work during and didn't feel it necessary to ask someone to change shifts (so far I only did that for SummerSlam).

They mangled the Survivor Series 2002 set. Perhaps the "old school"-ness of the actual set wouldn't translate to the game well? I was looking forward to entering through those big door-trons.

    WGTT News

Meltzer is reporting that Haas is fine and was just knocked a little loopy last night. Benjamin, on the other hand ,well be getting the same knee surgery (arthoscopic or whatever) that Angle and Rey had. They missed about 4-6 weeks IIRC. This apparently is in regard to a past injury, and not based on last night.

Don't forget Angle was on TV just about every week before wrestling again when he had his knee surgery.

The Mr. America / Vince McMahon lie detector test, ripped right from whatever episode of The Simpsons it is Moe is hooked up to one (Who Shot Mr Burns Part 2?), complete with "TV Lie Detector" dings and buzzing.

    Quick Question

Going waaay off topic now, but sticking with the subs vs dub, Movie 7 has a really, really awful dub to it.

    Quick Question

Despite EGM's hype of it being the best DBZ game of all time, it isn't all that good... which, I guess, makes it the best DBZ game of all time.

  24. Well, when we planned this trip to Maryland, we didn't realize there was going to be some free televised mini-concert from the National Mall until the night before we left. Although I have no idea who Good Charlotte were or any care to see Mary Blige perform, I decided to go anyway because A. It was a big televised deal and B. Aerosmith was there. Last night at 11 (and this morning too), all the news coverage talked about what a great time everyone had. I guess this because they didn't talk to the people like me who left early.... It was a lot like a SmackDown TV Taping... it wasn't actually live, but they pretended it was on TV. They took really, REALLY long pauses between acts to get it down right for TV. And they had dark matches... or in this case, dark acts. We heard Aerosmith on our way in at 5:50, then GC came on and all the silly little girls went crazy. The grass was wet and muddy from all the rain here, and we had nothing to sit on. This was our own fault, but we had been walking all day and were in no mood to stand some more. After GC came out again at 7 for the "Live" portion of the show, they took about 35 minutes to show 5,261 commercials on the big sceens about cleaning up America's parks. It was really ridiculous, so we just left. What was the point of this? Nothing. But I hate it when they lie on TV and say something is live when it wasn't, then have all these people saying what an awesome time they had. I suppose if you filed in at 7:45 after GC and Mary finished and saw Britney and Aerosmith with all the pyro, they'd be right.
