I didn't enter last year, but I did this year using a simple formula of picking everyone from Nintendo and Square to advance. The only time I did not do this was when I picked Jill to beat Squall, since I just assumed the entire world hated him. It turns out even SQUALL gets votes from the Square-heads, so I picking everyone Square is a good move. So far I only have two wrong (didn't know wtf KOS-MOS was and all the bios said "coming soon" when I was filling out the brackets, and the above Jill lose... that should be fine since I had Jill and Crash losing in round 2). I had Scorpion going to round 3, but he appears to be losing today. My Nintendo > Square > Other company picking strategy has some interesting picks that I could definitely see going wrong. My final 4 is Mario vs. Crono and Link vs. Zelda. I have DK beating Vercetti in round 2. I have Zelda beating Solid Snake. Things that shouldn't be, but sticking with my formula, ended up that way. Master Chief barely beat Felix, a name I didn't even recognize, so best of luck with THAT, Flyboy. Edit: I just looked over the brackets again and MC, a non-Square character, is up against Aeries, godess of the GameFAQ fanboys next round. Good fucking luck, Chief. You're screwed, Flyboy

I enjoy both Gary the Rat and Stripperella. It seems despite being the 2nd highest rated thing on TNN, Stripperella is already done, and I don't see things oging much better for Gary. Prove me wrong, though, TNN. I hope you do.

I believe they do. In general, the only matches that won't have entrances are when WWE has to pay royalties. WCW matches used to have entrances with Michael Buffer overdubbed, but all WCW matches on the Rey DVD cut right to the match.

I don't know why someone said This Hour Has 22 Minutes is one of the worst shows on TV. It's hilarious (or was, when Rick Mercer was on the show).

This is realy just 5 Raw's I remember really enjoying in no particular order... The post Canadian Stampede Raw - the only Raw I have on tape. Sasuke vs Taka and the show angles are good. Hot crowd. The Austin/Bret/Ambulance Raw. Don't remember a thing about it outside of that angle, but I've always held it in high regard. The post Vengeance 2002 Raw - A decent for TV ladder match, a great DX / HHH heel turn swerve, a tremendous Eddie interview ranting to Rock and a good match to go with it. The ECW/WCW Alliance debut Raw. Yeah, it didn't end up very well, but at the time that was, to me, a tremendous Raw. The first MSG Raw - The 'debut' of Cactus Jack, Vince's first Stunner.

While I will admit the Rumble loses momentum when it becomes big guys at the end, it was solidly booked leading up to it with some nice spots. My only complaint would be they basically did the exact same spot with Matt and Jeff that they did with Edge and Christian, but I laughed both times.

Off topic: Teddy Long's interview on the Backlash DVD is great, probably better than the whole show!

Hey, if Batista vs Kane vs RVD vs Jericho in an Over the Top rope match isn't enough of an extra to buy the DVD, I don't know what is! Seriously though, there are some decent fluff pieces about the Rumble history from Confidential on the disk and the 3 Undertaker return promos. The BAd Ass one sucks, but the constant DONGing of the first one gives me an old school chill and the music for the 2nd one rocks. Benoit vs Angle is that damn good, though. Steiner vs HHH is also hilarious. I reccomend it, and I write for the site (I think), so you know I know what I'm talking about!

Good work. I enjoyed it and pretty much agreed with all the points you hit. I actually tried a "What worked, what didn't" type deal once. It was called "Men at Work", but the title was deemed too gay, so it became "WWE Raw". Since I'm an admitted mark for WWE I don't remember how much "Didn't" I wrote about (as I'm writing this before finding the link) but I think it turned out ok. I never did another one, though. At the time I also didn't realize it was ripping off someone elses gimmick. Reading it now, I see I naturally said things that make me look foolish in retrospect, but whatever. If I'm not mistaken (and never watching an entire episode, I could be) the show Wings takes place in the Cheers / Frasier Universe and used to have Norm hanging out at the airport bar. Anyway, I'd be telling a lie if I said that when I was younger I wasn't a big fan of Family Matters, which was a Perfect Strangers spin-off. Could Captain N be considered a spin-off of The Legend of Zelda? Link and Zelda appeared in an episode as the same characters... I'm going to guess, without ever seeing it, "Golden Palace", the Golden Girls spin-off was bad. I hear nothing but bad things about Archie Bunker's place as well. "What's Happening Now?" was an interesting idea.. but not that good.

I've had the VHS since 1995, the only reason I ever thought of getting it on DVD was for dual language purposes. Since that's not an option (I believe it was with Alpha.. but the less said there the better) I don't really need to spend more money.

I'm actually not too offended by this. I know when it happened a while back on SmackDown I was mad because I thought Judgment Day ended their feud, but now I'm pleased that the Big Show / Lesnar matches end in no contests, setting up the big day where Lesnar finally pins show (since apparently he didn't at Royal Rumble or something and can only beat him in gimmick matches). Big Show may suck, but his main event push from November to now, minus the feud with Jones and Undertaker, has been one of the better built things WWE has done, giving Show some heat too. It's just a shame that this bit of booking is being used for someone who, without Lesnar's ability to do actual moves to him and put on a passable match or Angle's ability of GOD to have a good match with anyone, he totally sucks and it's the sort of booking that should be used on someone more competent. If anything from the tapings upset me, it was Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Ultimo losing in his 2nd match. What kind of half assed push is that? Hey, I'm all for matches like Dragon vs Eddie and an Eddie push, but come on now, Eddie could have just as easily beat Tajiri in the US Title Tournament. I suppose I didn't need to spoiler tag in a spoiler thread, but I'm going with the feeling that people who don't know the full spoilers and didn't mind reading one piece of business that upset someone could be reading.

Isn't the show only on for 2 more episodes anyway? Or was that a false rumour? From the TV Tome editor for the show... Cancelled or not, I guess she can still sue over what episodes did air and the fact it's currently a comic book.

The bottom line is cable can be a free for all if they chose (within certain limits, I think), it just might piss off advertisers. I don't know, it's not that big of a deal here in Canada since every station, network to cable, does whatever they want... except TSN. The idea there is TSN was licenced for sports, not necrophilia and men beating up women.

Shawn refered to Marty as "his boy" and said he was trying to catch him on the phone when he was on Off the Record, making me think he did and still does get along with Marty.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be Billy too, but now that it's been mentioned I do seem to remember that they briefly brought in a character that was Tommy's brother, at which point I lost hope for it being Billy.
