I believe the 20th is Jarrett's "shoot" promo. I don't really have much to say about Nitro but I really enjoyed Raw. It was hitting on all nostalgia cylinders for the just about official beginning of the Attitude Era (I think "officially", it began with the Vince promo about not insulting our intelligence and shades of gray and what have you). Raw highlights: - The term "D-Generation X" is used (and in an odd deal, Larry Z referred to Raven and Saturn as Generation X on Nitro). - A fun minis match. - LOVED the LOD stuff. - The Austin/Faarooq promo I was waiting for. Didn't remember it leading to the first Austin/Rock confrontation. - Jim Cornette's Phil Mushnick rant, although the end the rant is very sad in hindsight, given all the deaths that have happened since Brian Pillman. - Fun commentary. Vince REALLY gives it to Hogan ("the only thing worse than watching him act is watching him try to wrestle"). JR throws in a zinger about No Holds Barred ("No Profits Allowed"). I also laughed at Vince calling Mushnick a miserable son of a bitch (and before anyone complaints, that - along with "suck it" - were originally censored so it's not a 24/7 bleep). Lawler used his "Brian Christopher thinks Judo is the stuff they make bagels out of" line and I actually laughed at "Janet Reno has so little sex appeal, her gynecologist calls her sir".

WWE General Discussion - October 2008

Wow. That's *17* divas listed in that preview. How much damn time is that gonna kill? Not much. Last year they just did cuts throughout the night of their costumes being shown off. -
That doesn't even count since ALL the choices were heels - and Miz only won because he was looked at as the easiest opponent for Punk.

I believe it's from a WWE.com article where Cena talks with the dude who made "Bigger, Stronger, Faster". I thought the movie was about a bionic man of sorts but apparently it's not. -
"COME ON, BITCH!". That's quite the language for a 1992 wrestling telecast. I see Mike Graham was involved in the Medusa/Heyman scuffle.

A follow-up to last year's highly successful Cyber Sunday Costume Contest (deemed "the worst costume contest ever" by JR on commentary) has been announced! http://www.wwe.com/shows/cybersunday/match...343232/preview/ -

The timeline makes sense. The week after that, you had Shawn Michaels - who is supposed to be selling the effects of a ladder match - take Lance's finisher through a table but still beat the shit out of him with a chair and win the match and then he wasn't even mentioned last night. -
My memory on hearing about it isn't clear if they dissed Droz and this pissed Taker off, or they were "rude" to Taker personally. Probably some combination of everything.

No secret there. Some of the WCW guys (specifically O'Haire, I believe) were buried for not saying hello and shaking hands with Droz.

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
Happy Birthday to flithymcnasty. I'm sure we all remember your classic UPN sitcom. I'd like to wish a Happy 22nd to Cammo, but no one has seen him. -
I thought the weights were angels wings for a long time.

Any time Tim Horton's is referenced on an American television broadcast, it's a thumbs up from me.

A 20GB HD has like, 7 GB taken up by system stuff anyway so I'm not concerned about 128MB. I AM a bit pissed that I bought a system in May for my birthday that came with a 20GB HD only for them to drop in price AND replace the 20GB with a 60GB as the standard, but you can't win all your battles. At least I bought it before the Canadian/US dollar parity died a cruel death on Friday.

I liked that Johnny Knoxville sold one body slam better than Steve-o sold a beating by Umaga. Also, for some reason I can't remember I deleted a bunch of posts by accident. This thread was the same size as every week, people loved Raw, WWE makes folks smile, and this show won't draw a disasterous rating against MNF and the NLCS.

Wikipedia, of course (I'm just taking a guess, though). The source for that is the Pick Your Poison DVD (I seem to recall Meltzer ripping Jake's version of history apart).

Funny stuff all around tonight. I liked how 2009 Ted's ring-less hand was hidden behind something on the table until they announced they were going back to the apartment upstairs. Tell me I'm not the only one who immediately searches for wedding rings on hands whenever they do future jumps.

2007 was the first year in over a decade I did anything in a costume. Not a very good costume (a NES zapper and controller, a TMNT cartridge, my old glasses, and a white dress shirt with some pens in the pocket) but it was something. A buddy of mine had a good Dr. Mario costume:

I believe Mr. Keith gave Chono/Rude -***. I do recall being disappointed with Roberts/Sting when I watched this show in 2006. I knew it wasn't good, but up until that point I had only seen the build-up to the match. Roberts killing Sting with multiple DDTs on a chair was a huge deal for me in 1992 and I thought this was going to be a huge grudge match to settle the score. I almost ordered this PPV but my mom put her foot down, saying it was this or Survivor Series and I went with Survivor Series.

God bless the Philly crowd going nuts for the heels in the opener.

No problem. Also, just to clarify, I wasn't trying to be a smartass or anything, it really was helpful (for me to answer your question) that WCW put the whole thing on screen.

1. Texas Bull Rope 2. Spinner's Choice (which Ross hinted meant Jake would make some match involving his cobra). 3. Russian Chain Match 4. Dog collar Match 5. "I Quit" 6. Babred Wire 7. Cage 8. Lumber Jacks with Belts 9. Prince of Darkness. 10. Texas Death Match 11. Coal Miner's Glove 12. First Blood Quite the helpful graphic WCW put up at the beginning of the show.

It's great when they list of every other mat stipulation that could be much more exciting than the glove match. Even PRINCE OF DARKNESS match, which I assume means "Blindfold", SOUNDS exciting.

These are the sort of things that need to be pre-announced so I could have DVR'd the HD feed of the show. Hooray for Tuesday replays!
