Let Nobody Ever Criticize the American Media

What pundits do you enjoy? I liked Tucker Carlson the one time I saw him at least. Seems pretty knowledgable and unbiased for most things, and criticized both parties on different issues. Plus, he's got that fashionable bowtie.

The OaO NFL Draft 2005 Thread

He played a game against New England and threw an INT I think, or fumbled I don't remember. Hey, he has a strong arm and is pretty mobile. They say if he stayed in College another year he would have been a good candidate to be the top pick in this year's draft. Whether that means last year's draft was deep or this year's shallow, I don't know. He has two *potential* pro bowlers at wideout, a great RB, and too bad they didn't get a LT because that would have made the transition real easy for him.

Also I don't understand why the Single Priest thing is what makes Catholics crazy. They are called to serve the Church "like a bride". I don't agree with it, but it's not like it makes them horribly traditional or something.

Well, I have to admit that most of the Protestant Christians I've come to know have been of the Evangelical type, so they are what comprise the "Religious Right" for the most part. Represented by guys like Pat Robertson and James Dobson, it's hard to come off as more open-minded than Catholics. Like I said before, being progressive about certain things may be a bad thing because much of the time your policies are dictated by the changes displayed in pop culture. But yeah, which are the denominations that are more open to contextual interpretation of the Bible, and homosexuality not being the most evil thing ever?

Didn't ISKA change its name to K-1? Bas Rutton should do a run in a Raw. I don't know, I just remember hearing all these different acronyms that had lots of s', k' and i' for karate/savate/kickboxing champs in the old days of MMA. Of course, after seeing them perform, I question the legitimacy of what they did. Now that Tito has signed on TNA, maybe he can work up to Raw eventually?

That's not too whoosh-worthy, you have to make it look like the good old whoosh with the big letters and shit.

Bullshit. Protestants are the ones who are becoming more open-minded and progressive these days. Why, some of them even allow women to be ministers and, *gasp* gays to be clergy and bishops. Actually this is bullshit. But that's the problem with saying protestants, there are so many different denominations within, that there is no such thing as just being a protestant. With that being said, most protestant denominations don't agree with any of the stuff you said. Most have a harsher stance on homosexuality, don't want women in leadership period, believe in the BIble literally and refuse to acknowledge the possibility of evolution, etc. The most narrow-minded aspect to me is the fact that they state that only one who is a Christian will enter Heaven. If that's not the definition of "narrow", I don't know what is. Too many people think of being progressive as being a good thing.

Well you mentioned the Stein bit, and the darkness of my skin doesn't really give off that Aryan vibe... The only thing worse than stupid white kids making black jokes when you're not actually black is coloured kids making nazi jokes when you're not a white kid.

Hey I've tried repeatedly to bring up Mark Clayton. But there's no controversy there. Everyone knows he rules and will be good. With White there is controversy and a better discussion. I mean with Clayton I just say "He's awesome and will be a solid NFL player" and everyone says "I know." You're acting like bringing up OTHER OU football players makes you look any better. I still like the Rodgers pick for the Packers. When you have a potential #1 drop down to 24, your QB was actually thinking of retiring THIS Year, and that draft pick has the chance to learn under one of the best, it's not too bad. They couldn't have gotten anyone that would have been an immediate impact player anyway, might as well go for the most important offensive position. What would a guy like Dan Cody have done for you this year? Not that great, certainly not enough to pass up on a guy like Rodgers who might be able to do so much more for the future. Unlike VX, I'm not sold on guys like Craig Nall. Stupid Bills didn't get rid of Henry when they had the chance, now they might get nothing for him. They were being offered what they needed, a LT and they STILL didn't take it. Sometimes Tom Donahoe can be a real moron.

Would you wear a Hitler T-shirt? Why not? It'd be equally "ironic" -=Mike That was more of a joke, I did like the saying on the bottom, spanish for "the youth is the fundamental clay of our work" or something along those lines.

Mark Coleman vs Maurice Smith. Mirko Cro Cop vs Coleman/Waterman/Aleks Emilianenko. Nice try, thanks for playing. To be fair, Cro Cop and Maurice Smith aren't one dimensional kickboxers. They mixed up some grappling, not in order to utilize but mainly just to escape it. Cro Cop survived on his back as well as avoided the easy to telegraph shots from Coleman. A better comparison would be Mark Coleman versus any of those "IKSBF Whatever" kickboxing "champions" from back in the day. I mean, these guys are fans anyway. And probably half the size of guys like Venis and Benjamin.

Seems interesting, but you don't necessarily have to go through all the trouble of uploading it. People can find ways to hear it on their own. Seems like one of those "Get people to expand their horizons" type of deal.

Catholics are more progressive, or at least more open minded, than most Protestant denominations. Most evangelical protestant denominations like Baptist and Mennonite to name a few, are pretty old school. Won't be willing to accept evolution, look at everything to be absolutely literal, etc. Of course, Catholicism isn't progressive at all, but religion is not supposed to be progressive, it's supposed to be truth that stands the test of time and doesn't change with popular opinion. In a day and age where everything is looked upon as discriminatory, the Catholic church would probably be best suited not to hear what everyone has to tell them. Of course, due to the way people have perverted the religion, sadly that means that it has been forced to be progressive, because it was wrong about a few things before. It shouldn't have to change its stance on certain things after the reformation, the things that caused the reformation like all the corruption within the church should not have been there in the first place.

Communism hasn't worked because people were put on a pedastal as the ones the people worshipped. Religious socieities that have sort of used a socialist/communist way of running themselves have worked fine because they put God at the centre. Nobody treats themselves as bigger than anyone else, so there is no dictator. An order of Franciscan Priests for example, used to all take whatever money they earned, regardless of who earned more, and they all shared it equally, also giving a large amount to the poor. That's a form of communism, and that doesn't sound too evil to me.

There are a lot of contradictory things in the Bible, but it is not really contradictory so much as it is just misunderstood. Being a Christian myself I believe this, as it's all about context. Of course, you posted a lot, so I'll probably get into it tomorrow or something, I'd like to know the context of such verses. I mean, I can look on google and find anti-Christian things that claim all sorts of bullshit on how it condoned rape and a bunch of other shit that ain't true. I don't know if what you quoted can also be explained, but I'll look into it tomorrow. Night.

World Leaders: A bunch of lying douche bags?

I fail to see what one has to do with the other. He's basically saying you shouldn't teach children because you hate someone you've never met. Pretty much since you teach children you can put anything there that involves you being of influence. "You're a bigot? And you teach children?" Whoops, thought we were in the Texas thread again.

Just give me a passage, find something that I can see from it firsthand, not you telling me about it because until then it's simply your word against John Q. Mohammed's. Speaking of which, that's the only thing I don't get about Islam, it's almost like they're ALL named after Mohammed. It's not like all Christians are named Jesus, or are Buddhists named Buddha, etc. I once knew a guy named Mohammed BUTT. Pretty funny.

Okay I was referring to what Mike said about Christianity before the Reformation, so many posts in between I felt I had to clarify. Said post is quoted below:
