Look harder. REM has had two great 90s albums, in New Adventures and Automatic. They should be up there I think, though I've never seen any REM fans on this board before...

Or, perhaps more accurately, someone remembered how Bush got heckled in the Australian legislature and didn't want it to happen again. I missed this the first time. The fact that he didn't come to Ottawa when Chretien refused to back him in the Iraq War tells me that this very well could be a backhanded response.
-
You suck at this for two reasons: 1) C-Bacon isn't protesting the fact that Bush is POTUS (catchy), but rather that he's coming to Canada and his trip to Ottawa. It's more of a "you're not welcome here" then a "you're making my life suck". I don't agree with his stance, but you're still wrong in your assessment of it. 2) There's a difference between liberals disagreeing with Bush policy, and having MP's of your party openly calling him a "moron" and "bastard". Members that you kicked out, for good reason, but I digress. If you weren't such a moronic bastard yourself, you would have realized this and shut up, as opposed to trying to be funny....and failing. I'd make a bad post pointout for yours if I cared enough.

This sounds like any ne'er do well teenager. well no shit, once you take the actual SYMPTOMS out of the quote and leave in what it's MISCONSTRUED as, then it does sound like one. My point was that 95% of all teens could be having their behaviour misconstrued. We're all fucked up in one way or another.

What was the Foley thing? -
I have to say, that Czech's dismissal of Radiohead sounded like complete bullshit, like he didn't know what he was talking about. I am not knocking his musical tastes or anything, but that second paragraph was just filled with a bunch of crap. It reminds me of the responses I get from people who just think Sigur Ros is a "bunch of crap that makes no sense". Guilty Pleasure of mine would be Smashing Pumpkins, although I'm not guilty, because of the fact that I don't feel guilty about what I like, but that's the buzzword for "bands/artists you like that aren't typical of bands/artists you like". Siamese Dream is a great rock record, Adore is pretty good, and if you trim down, okay, SEVERELY trim down Mellon Collie to one disc it's pretty solid as well. I'm not a big fan of the nineties since most of the stuff I listen to is more 80s alternative, so I might as well point out that the best album to come out of the nineties was Loveless, in my not so humble opinion anyway. I really like Illmatic too, albeit for very different reasons.

I actually think the most accessible track off of OK Computer is Electioneering, to add to Edwin's list. I take it that Inc doesn't feel into the whole "Radiohead are one of the best bands ever/90s" line of thinking? He doesn't seem to impressed by reading what he posted. I have always noticed that people who like The Bends more then OK probably aren't that into Radiohead in the first place. OK Computer is amazing. The Bends is as well, but is completely different. Ditto for Kid A. I'm not a big fan of Pablo Honey, or Amnesiac, but HttT is a pretty solid album, but not as good as the top three.

That Ohio Players one scared the shit out of me, but I checked Snopes and it's false. It sounds fake obviously, as a manager just stabbing a woman to death right there would never happen, but the thought of hearing a woman dying in the middle of a dance song is...fucked up.

Well obviously Macdonald can't really be Canadian, considering he was born before it existed.

Yeah, but look at them now, though. Ugh. I don't know if that was a joke or not about our army, or if you were just making a pointless jab at the country as a whole, but if you were NOT mocking our soldiers, then just ignore this next little rant: Canadian soldiers are some of the best trained in the world. Better than Americans many would argue, on an individual basis, although your army is infinitely better because of all the money that's pumped into it. It's easy to make dumbass comments like that when you're talking out of your ass and clearly don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Next time you decide to be a fucking moron, shut the fuck up. Seriously, if I said something like "all American soldiers are stupid hicks" I'd be flamed to all hell, and rightfully so. This is on equal grounds I think, and is very disrespectful to some of the bravest men and women out there. But I forgot, that only applies to American soldiers. Anyways, I'd say Mackenzie King is the best Canadian, he started up this revolutionary space program that was going to a bunch of new and wonderful things way up there. But then Diefenbaker disbanded it and most of the scientists went south of the board where there talents would be utilized...in this upstart little program called NASA. Mack King is the greatest, Dief the Chief the worst.

I got Let It Be, and I really liked it. I'm not looking for recommendations or anything, I'm gonna just get some stuff since this album sold me on them. They seem like a pretty damn good band, and I never hear them mentioned on the board, so I figured I might as well start a thread. There's bound to be some fans here. For starters; my favourite track on the album is the opener. Replace 'meet' with 'fuck' and it's a much more interesting piece of frustrated pent-up sexual tension. But I guess that is why I am not a part of one of the more influential punk(? this is why I try not to label a band and stick them in a genre) bands of the 80s.

Hey, I don't think I defended C-Bacon once, nor did I attack Mad Dog. I actually read what Mad Dog posts and I normally skip over what C-Bacon has to say.

Republicans don't like community service, because its work without getting paid. Yeah that's why I've been doing Big Brother/Big Sister for eight years and the United Way for ten. Prick. For the record, in my opinion at least one year of either gov't or community service should be a requirement to vote. This doesn't have anything to do with volunteering, if everyone screams "DRAFT~!" for Bush after the Selective Service sent out requests to fill seats that they've been trying to fill since 1999 when the orginal holders began hitting their twenty year term limits why should Kerry be left off? Doing what others did to "your guy" as a sort of payback is pretty childish, like the guy with pis as his handle had said.

Thought the first one was horrible, but I guess the hype it got made things worse. So no go on this one for me.

The Canadian Health Care System
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Current Events
From what I've heard, Canadian med schools have higher standards then ones in the states. I've been told by many that those who don't get into a Canadian one, say, Queens, go to the States, where while expensive, is easier to get into. Canadian doctors are better educated, though a good deal move to the states where the money is so technically they are now American. Of course, all the people in this folder would not believe that, but hey, that's the way it is. -
I think the conservative bias got out of hand when they tried to paint Kerry as wanting a draft when he was reinforcing...wait for it....MANDATORY COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. Yeap, that looks like the draft to me. I still don't know what Loss and KKK are arguing about though.
-
Wait a minute, what exactly would KKK get banned for? I don't know what he's talking about. VOTE LA PARKA
-
WHY ISN'T LA PARKA WINNING?? HE ALWAYS WINS!

Give it up for teenage liberalism

Saying things like "black welfare jockeys" makes you come off as the total opposite of the moronic conservative he seemed to portray you as. -
Yeah, the bleach wasn't enough, they had to go ahead and use tabasco sauce.
-
Ditto.

Wimpy's burgers are about the same as that, but twice as long. ALthough there is only one patty, I think you can get it to be two if you were really desperate to kill yourself early.
-
I'll reply to all of that later, but the point is you can't say that you're for the choice to have an abortion and then say you're not FOR abortion. You're pro-abortion, admit it. I'm anti-CHOICE, I will admit that, anti- the choice to have an abortion, one I don't think you should have. There's too much there to get right now, I'm eating. Let it be known that I don't harbour any ill will towards anyone who is for the use of abortion, even though I think it's a horrible thing. I just feel they are wrong.
