Hell, I know technique isn't all that important. I got flamed to hell for it in a thread about Linkin Park's Meteora, although they never really came up with a concrete argument. Instead, they reverted to calling me names and whining about I spelled Theater like TheatRe. Anyways, I can understand how you feel about Petrucci, but I don't agree. In fact, what I love about his songs are that they're excellent technically, but every note counts and that they all fall into place. Technique can hurt a song, like in the case of Eddie Van Halen(whom is probably one of the worst guitarists in terms of originality, and he's the guy you go to for lack of soul), but Petrucci only makes it better. Not to mention, all of Metallica's songs have solos that seem to be just mindless showboating. The breaking point is the fact that Portnoy is about 100x better than Lars with no exaggeration, and that Labrie is just so much better than Hetfield. With all that said however, "soul" isn't exactly a quantative measurement...

I think that's why everyone loves DEAN. He doesn't take this shit seriously, and can actually have a sense of humour about it, yet at the same time can analyze it deeply. I've never heard one complaint hurled at him to be honest.

Oh and by the way, is this the first time that you've actually expressed your hatred for Metallica? That's the impression I got with your "I'm glad someone asked", since I had assumed that throughout all this time, everyone just accepted that fact...

Thanks AoO, personally, I prefer the Prog metal bands like Tool, mainly Dream Theater, to blow these guys away, in terms of better written songs and technical ability. Except for that hack Portnoy, he's got nothing on Lars man, nothing... *Points to sig*

When discussing the technical aspect of one's play, I'm sorry but it's not opinion. He was decent with the double bass, but that's about it. Ask any drummer, and they'll tell you that he's never had anything but a remedial beat in any song, except for maybe blackened. I left this window open for so long, I forgot about it. A little late there buddy.. FearHavoc was constantly whining. Whether it was about how people didn't like HHH in the WWF folder, making him afraid to post there, or that he would be made fun of in the Music folder for liking Aerosmith. The thought of defending said opinions never occured to him, he just knew he would be unjustly shit upon, helping all of us realise that he was simply a bitch. Pardon my ignorance, but when a lethal injection goes wrong like in Gacy's situation, what kind of pain is he going through exactly? It's pretty simple to understand what's happening when the electrocution method doesn't work, and someone is all of a sudden walking around on fire. But I'm curious as to what kind of pain is going through someone that is the "victim" of a botched lethal injection.

I actually said that because I expected you to think I was mocking you, to which I'd say that I typed it with that intention but that I was fully telilng the truth, but I guess you're not skeptical enough. Even if it was sort of a cliched copy of that shitty movie, you know, the one about a Love Story, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe it was because it was a teenage love movie that didn't look like all the rest due to it's Christian theme, I don't know, but I still loved it regardless, and can watch it again and again. I really am a sensitive sixteen year old aren't I? On a side note, it's ironic that my 666th post has to do with two Christian movies.
