Yeah I can't think of a forward so I'll grab my backup now as well. Probably better choices out there but I think this guy is a good fit. Solid team guy and you wouldn't hesitate to throw him in. Also the "worst" goalie to win three Cups, including two as a starter: Chris Osgood, G 363 wins 47 shutouts 2.43 career GAA Three Stanley Cup championships Two time Jennings trophy winner Four time all star Scored a goal in a 1996 game versus Hartford

Dan Boyle might be going to San Jose

I'll take my final defenseman with this pick: Kenny Jönsson, D Swedish Elite League rookie of the year, 1993 Swedish Elite League player of the year, 2006 Two time Olympic gold medalist (1994, 2006) World Championship gold (2006), silver (2004) and bronze (1994) medalist Named best defenseman at the 2006 Olympics NHL All Star, 1999

Habs sign Georges Laraque

It's actually Keith Aucoin

Yeah, that was awesome. Anyway this card was my first live event and it was awesome. Solid action for the most part even though I thought the DQ in the Soto fight was complete bullshit.

Sorry guys being in Vegas fucked this up but kudos to Goblin for making my picks. Is it caught up now?

I can already see the first round exit in '09. Seriously though the Wings have done exceptionally well with their signings. I like the Conklin deal as now Jimmy Howard at least has someone to push him for the backup job. Surprised to see Stuart stay but I was hoping he would as he and Kronwall were looking very solid in the playoffs. And of course Hossa just adds the icing to the cake.

I'm in Vegas from tomorrow until Thursday and I don't think I'll be getting any internet time. What should I do about the picks I'll be missing?
-
Not a done deal yet according to his agent. In other news the Flames placed Anders Eriksson, Rhett Warrener and Marcus Nilson on waivers. I could see someone picking up Nilson. The other two, not so much.

Well I'm just plain old stumped now for ideas for a d-man here so I settled on this man: Bill Quackenbush, D 62 goals 222 assists 284 points First All-Star Team Defense (1948, 1949, 1951) Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (1949) Second All-Star Team Defense (1947, 1953) Hall of Fame inductee, 1976 According to Wikipedia he was the "pre-eminent offensive defenceman of his era." He also had a stretch where he didn't take a penalty for 138 consecutive games. Can't say I'm entirely familiar with him but it's not bad for half of my third defensive pairing.

I was drawing a blank on an NHL player I wanted so I figured the international ranks would be worth a look.
-
I really didn't know what to do with this pick but I decided to go forward. If I understood it right we could pick players based on international careers so I'm going with a player some consider to be one of the best Russian players of all time (and now Pavel has a comarade on his line): Valery Kharlamov Two time Olympic Gold Medalist Eight IIHF World Championships Member of Team Russia for the Summit Series Member, IIHF Team of the Century Hall of Fame inductee, 2005

Damn shame. I got to see him live for the first time six months ago and though he was looking a little frail I didn't think he'd be dying anytime soon.
-
Pretty decent pick by the Wings. They needed another goalie in the system and I was reading some good things about McCollum.
-
Umberger to Columbus. Potentially could work out very well for them.
-
I'm still not sure if Pierre likes Schenn or not.
-
And Tanguay thought he had pressure here.
-
Olli Jokinen to Phoenix for Ballard, Boynton and a pick.
-
WTF Cammalleri to Calgary? How did that happen?
-
Sounds like it's pretty much a done deal that Alex Tanguay is going to Montreal for the 25th pick.
-
Heh, figured if I can't get Hank I'll at least take his partner in crime. I also thought he wouldn't be around when it came back to me so I had to pull the trigger now.
-
I'm sure there's probably a better pick that I could make here but this guy's two way play and ridiculous skill make him a good fit for my third line: Pavel Datsyuk, C 129 goals 286 assists 425 points Two Stanley Cup championships Two time All Star Selke Trophy winner, 2008 Three consecutive Lady Byng Trophies (2006-2008) Olympic Bronze medalist, 2002

Surname: Roy In the British Isles this surname is recorded as Le Roy, Leroy, Leroi, Le Roi, and Roy. It has at least two possible national origins. Firstly it may be Norman-French and introduced after the famous Conquest of 1066. The derivation is from the word rey or roi, meaning a king or chief, and in medieval times was used as a nickname either for one who behaved in a regal fashion, or who had earned the title in some contest of skill, or more likely had been elected "king for the day" in a local festival. It could also be used as a personal name as for example Roi de Scallebi listed in the Pipe Rolls of Lincolnshire in 1188. Secondly it could be of Gaelic and Scottish origins and if so a nickname for a person with red hair, from "ruadh", meaning red. The creation of surnames from nicknames was a common practice in the Middle Ages, and many modern day surnames derive from medieval nicknames referring to personal characteristics. Early examples of surname recordings include Adam le Roy in the Feet of Fines of Suffolk in 1268, and Simon Roy in the Hundred Rolls of Cambridgeshire in 1279. Moritius Roy was witness in Perth during the reign of James 11nd of Scotland, and John Roy was sheriff of Inverness (1563). A coat of arms granted to the y family ghas the blazon of a blue shield charged with a silver lion rampant, on a silver border eight red torteaux. The Motto, "Qua tendis", translates as "Whither do you steer". The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Robert Raie. This was dated 1206, in the Pipe Rolls of Cambridgeshire, during the reign of King John, known as "Lackland", 1199 - 1216. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was sometimes known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling. Adam's my first name too. Crazy.
