Watching this debacle of a Wings game, I see they've announced that every Blackhawks game will be televised next year.

The Best Sports Movie of All Time
Zetterberg is God replied to foleyfanforever88's topic in Television & Film
Other ridiculous things about D2 (and there are PLENTY but anyway): -Somehow the US national team is made up of one junior team and like four people from the rest of the country (including a player who made the team despite not being able to stop and a figure skater who's somehow able to perplex opponents with his ice dancing prowess). The recruiting also extends to the streets of LA where a roller hockey player can make the team -Canada is a complete non-factor despite being in the middle of a run of junior hockey dominance -Trinidad and Tobago being in the tournament (WTF) -The entire team being treated like celebrities, which is especially ridiculous considering most Americans could give a fuck about hockey, much less Junior Goodwill Games hockey -Changing jerseys in the middle of the game, pretty much implying that playing for the glory of their regional junior team is more important than playing for the glory of America. -A player (the aforementioned roller hockey virtuoso) who is able to change into goalie equipment in the middle of the game without anyone noticing, then firing a shot from his own blue line that results in the tying goal. I know it's a kids movie and all that (and despite my criticisms I love the franchise) but I could never get past these and all the other ridiculous plot devices/inaccuracies in the films. -
The writers here were adamant for a while that it should be Iginla but most of them now say it should be Ovechkin. Iginla's having a great season and will probably get a nomination but he's also had some ice cold stretches this year and his supporting cast is a lot better.

Johan Franzen does it again. The Wings really need this kind of secondary scoring to continue come playoff time so here's hoping Franzen stays hot.
-
Detroit almost pulls off the comeback (thanks to the continued red hot play of Johan Franzen) and the Habs pull one out in Buffalo.

Yep. Moved here from Montreal in 1999.

I've noticed that with CBC as well. It seems like they have a higher quality HD feed they use for national broadcasts and a lesser quality one for the other games (including the 10 PM game sometimes). I don't know the technical details well enough to explain why but there is a definite difference.

Detroit's win tonight gave them their third consecutive 50 win season.

Nice to see Zetterberg end his slump with a natural hat trick.

Whats the first pay per view you saw live?
Zetterberg is God replied to Frankie Williams's topic in General Wrestling
First one ordered was King of the Ring '96 First (and only) I've been at live was Survivor Series '97. -
Great win for Detroit tonight. Coming back from a 3-1 deficit against a team like Dallas is huge for their confidence. And not like it wasn't going to happen anyway but the Wings are the first team to clinch a playoff spot.

Glad to see the Wings pick up Stuart. Rental or not they desperately needed a solid defenseman to fill the holes caused by injuries. Once everyone is healthy, he should fit into the top four nicely.

Forsberg signs with Colorado

Speaking of injuries and slumps, Detroit and their depleted defensive core lost for the eigth time in nine games.
-
Excellent game by Detroit tonight to snap their losing streak. It may have come at a price though as Lidstrom went down with a knee injury which I hope to God is not too serious.

Who here hasn't changed their screen name?
Zetterberg is God replied to Ravenbomb's topic in General Chat
I've never changed mine though I really should. -
Two Habs arrested in Tampa

Shoddy officiating cost the Wings at least a point today. Hopefully they can snap their losing streak versus Nashville on Tuesday.

Great game in Detroit tonight. Budaj was superb but the Detroit pressure finally cracked him. Datsuyk is quietly climbing the points ladder with 5 points in his last two games and Zetterberg pots the game winner to give him at least 30 for the third straight year.

Detroit Red Wings Offense: A. When together the Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom line is one of the best in hockey. Zetterberg is at the top of his game and only injury is holding him back. In his place key contributers (Cleary, Filppula, Hudler) have stepped up and produced. Defence: A. Lidstorm and Rafalski have been excellent together and there really isn't a weak link. Shots and quality chances are very limited. Goaltending: A. When the "backup" is going to the All Star game, you know you have it good in this department. Osgood has been stellar and Hasek has turned it on as of late after a shakey start. Coaching: A. Mike Babcock has done a superb job as always in guiding this team to a record start. Hopefully he'll be recognized come awards time. Overall: A. What else can you say other than hopefully it translates to the playoffs. It's scary to think their record could be better had they not had trouble against the Central early on.

It's too bad San Diego hasn't done anything significant with these turnovers (at least not yet).

New England traded their 2007 second and seventh round picks for Welker.

Yeah I saw that number too. Holy shit was exactly what I was thinking when TSN put the other one out there. Crazy to think that he got that without an agent.
