Just what WWE needs to boost business; crappier wrestling. The brawling style that was predominant during the Austin era doesn't cut it anymore.

I'd never thought I'd read a Bleu Nuit reference on this board. I remembered one time when I lived in Montreal where they showed Showgirls at 8 PM, totally uncensored. Good times.

If he does retire, at least it will be with the knowledge that he accomplished pretty much everything there was or is do to in wrestling, and became one of the best wrestlers of all time in the span of 4 years.

NEW YORK (AP) -- James Gandolfini, the star of "The Sopranos," has filed a complaint claiming HBO breached his contract for a fifth season, a newspaper said. In the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Gandolfini says HBO missed a deadline for advising the actor that his services would be needed for a fifth season, scheduled to begin filming on March 24. "This doesn't mean he will not show up for work on March 24," Martin Singer, Gandolfini's lawyer, told the Daily News for Friday editions. "We have till then to evaluate what he will do. We're seeking a declaration from the court that he does not legally have to render acting services for this season." The Daily News reported that Gandolfini, who earns about $400,000 an episode, including bonuses, is seeking $750,000 Although I'm sure this will be settled by the time filming starts, HBO is pretty fucked if they don't have the main character on their highest rated show present for the very much anticipated 5th season.

Great. More crap for Jeff Hardy. How the hell does this guy still have a job? I don't even want to know how many teenage girls are going to buy that crappy visor.

Speaking of PPV main events, WM XIX will be the 63rd straight time that The Rock, Steve Austin, Triple H, or Undertaker have worked the main event. Last time those guys weren't in a main event was in 1997 at the D-X PPV (Micheals vs Shamrock)

Now he just needs to "star" in a couple of "blockbusters" and we'll be rid of his talentless ass forever.

It's gotta be the amateur wrestling background. You need to have speed to even have a chance of success in it. And I have been a Brock mark ever since he debuted in Montreal.

NFL: Buffalo Bills, even after all the years of choking NBA: Don't really have one but I do enjoy the Mavericks MLB: Expos (the uncrowned champs in '94) NHL: Detroit (much respect for Stevie Y) NCAA: Not into college sports

I know that in Canada the Score replays it at 11 eastern time.

Glad to see that I'm not the only fan of these bands on this forum. Sparta is truly amazing, and I'm patiently waiting for the Mars Volta to release their album. Wiretap Scars is an excellent album and hopefully Mars Volta will be just as good.

If they have him do a speech vacating the title in Pittsburgh, it will be one of the most emotional moments in wrestling history. It will add so much more credibility to the title as it will look like the title is so meaningful to Angle that the only he could give it up was through an injury. This just sucks so bad that we have to endure the next year without Kurt.
-
I don't recall Lance Storm ever bleeding (although he probably did in ECW, but I didn't see him do it there either).
-
That's what is making me very angry. People like Angle and Edge can be injured and the real "superstars" (A-Train, Bill DeMott) get to have injury free careers.

Wrestlers who WWE have been releasing recently haven't been prohibited from working for other promotions. Many expect D'Lo Brown will quickly jump to NWA-TNA upon becoming a free agent at the end of this month. An interesting back-story relating to D'Lo's recent release from WWE, when Vince Russo left WWE for WCW, he touted D'Lo Brown one of the big superstars in the future of wrestling. D'Lo Brown then made a big scene about wanting to leave WWE when his contract expired so he could jump to WCW and said he looked forward to working with Vince Russo. Unfortunately, D'Lo wasn't aware that he had another year on his WWE contract and a clause that prohibited him from getting out of it early. He then found himself in heat with management which led to him being sent to OVW for a year before recently coming back to work on RAW. Another interesting note is that Triple H was said to be high on D'Lo pretty recently, surprising many when they found out he was going to be released. WWE was holding announcer tryouts a while back, but HHH pulled D'Lo from contention and encouraged officials to use him as an in-ring talent on RAW instead. Credit: Torch Newsletter

Dr. Tom Prichard and Kevin Kelly also asked The Rock what went down about the rumors of Goldberg meeting him on the set of his movie and what the status of Goldberg to WWE was. Rock said he had been making phone calls, setting up meetings, and doing everything possible to help further the movement in negotiations between Goldberg and WWE. In regards to the current status of the Goldberg/WWE negotiations, The Rock said "things are looking good. I don't know for sure, but from what I hear, things are really looking good." Credit WWE.com

I think it's an implication that Bischoff is a closet homosexual. Either that or it would just be really really funny. Actually, the joke here is that Bischoff and his wife used to enjoy watching strippers (for the Gold Club) get it on. I believe he was even brought up as a witness at a trial against the owner, which is where this info came from.

The DVD is worth the price based on that promo alone. When Pillman turns on the crowd, it's just classic to see their reaction.

What's up with these recent moronic decisions? (D'Lo, B2). Do these guys not like making six figures doing exactly what they want to do in life?

I'll go with WWF 1997-2000. Even though 99 sucked, every other year in there had something awesome in it that made the WWF good viewing.

That says it all. More events than last year and attendance was still down. The only way they made more money was because of the increased event numbers and increased ticket prices.

WWE announced results for its fiscal quarter, third quarter 2003 results, today. It announced total revenues of $95.6 million, down from $100.2 million in the same period 2002. The operating loss was $26.7 million versus operating income of $8.5 million last year. Much of the loss was due to a $32.9 million charge of "goodwill and other long-lived assets at The World." Without that one-time charge and two other smaller charges ($1.5 million for a legal settlement and $1.0 million for early termination of a lease agreement), operating income would have $8.8 million, above last year's total. The World lost approximately $18.3 million from May 3, 2000 to January 24, 2003, and the press statement says they saw no indication such losses would end anytime soon. "We are reallocating resources to the continued growth of our global business, rather than focusing on a single, site-specific and local project," said Linda McMahon, Chief Executive Officer. "We will build shareholder value by continuing to create WWE branded products and programming which we can distribute on a worldwide basis. Moreover, we will immediately eliminate operating losses which have continued to grow since the acquisition of the facility and which are estimated to be approximately $9.5 million for this fiscal year." Other Key Figures: Total Revenues same quarter 2003 vs. 2002: $95.6, down from $100.2 Live and Televised Entertainment: $71.0 million, down from $73.4 million Live Event revenues: $16.2 million, up from $15.3 million (which includes 79 events this year compared to 61 last year; attendance was 373,900 compared to 446,500 last year; average U.S. ticket price went up approximately 20 percent to $40.90). PPV revenues: $21.1 million, down from $23.8 million (despite the price going up from $29.95 to $34.95). PPV domestic buys: 1.3 million, down from 1.6 million. TV rights fees: $16.2 million, increased 25 percent due to two TV specials, an executive producer fee for Heldorado starring Rock, rights fees for Tough Enough, and increased international rights fees. TV ad revenue: $17.5 million, down from $21.3 million. Branded merchandise: $24.6 million, down from $26.8 million. Licensing revenues: $8.4 million, up 9 percent due to book and video game revenues (Hollywood Hulk Hogan reached #13 on The New York Times Best Sellers List; WWE SmackDown! Shut Your Mouth for Playstation 2 was among the top ten best selling Playstation 2 games for the month of December). Merchandise revenues: $5.0 million, compared to $7 million last year. Publishing revenues: $4.2 million, same as last year. Home video revenue: $2.7 million, up from $2.6 million. The World revenues: $2.8 million, down 28 percent. I saw this a few weeks ago and I still think it's funny. I must now incorporate the line "Why don't you go play hide and go fuck yourself" more often into my daily conversations

When the Rock leaves again, it will be a very sad day. His whole heel run right now should be considered one of the best of all time, and it's only three shows in.
