The one thing about MVP that turns me off is the fact that there is no year by year statistic recording. That's just poor.

Uhh....Carlos Beltran is one of the top 5 best overall players in baseball right now. Johnny Damon should be at least a tad higher than that.

Just to end the argument quick. Nomar had a better season last year BY FAR than Jeter. Not to mention over their respective careers. Just last year alone Nomar hit almost 3X more Home Runs, had twice as many RBI's and almost twice as many doubles...Blew Jeter away in triples...OPS...SLG... In all honestly Jeter isn't even in the same class offensively and defensively as Garciaparra. It's all in the numbers.

I'm sorry, but there is NO way Derek Jeter is the best Shortstop in this league. He isn't even the best Shortstop on that team... Yes I know that other dude is playing 3B for the time being. BTW, why the hell is Jose Reyes playing 2B and Kaz Matsui playing SS for the Mets? I thought Kaz was a 2B and Reyes was a SS?

Man I think Varitek is WAY underrated around baseball. He may not be the great hitter like Piazza, Posada, or Lopez but without him Boston's pitching would be ass. Go back and look at the seasons before his injury, then the season he missed, and then the season after. HUGE evidence of just how great and valuable he really is to a pitching staff.

Yea the Pats were 9-7 with a very tough schedule(as they will have this coming season). I don't expect the Pats to come close to repeating what they did this year, but in another year or two they will be dominant again as long as Belichick and Pioli are running the show and picking the personnel.
