No, you're wrong. Boston had already agreed to trade for Giles. That's not a block. Also, any speculation that it was a block was shot down by the local Boston reporters right away. It's still unclear what his role would be, but for $8 million (remaining '08 salary + trade kicker + '09 buyout) it wasn't to screw Tampa and it was definitely not for 2-3 starts per week. There would have been some sort of OF/DH rotation had the trade gone through, and despite what you want to think, Ellsbury would have been the odd man out. I don't know what Cheech is smokin' but there NO FUCKING CHANCE that Ellsbury goes back to AAA. Guy had a slump and he's breaking out of it now and STILL leads the league in steals while playing phenomenal CF defnese. Every hitter in the Sox' lineup doesnt have to hit over .280 to be successful. He'll be back in the leadoff spot within the next week or two...Francona has already said this.

Overall I wish things were different here with Manny, because I loved watching everything he did for the last 8 years, but as sad as I am to see him go and i will miss him greatly...I can;t defend the crap he's been pulling lately just to ensure he gets out of those option years. I REALLY want to see LA and Boston in the Series now
