Son of a bitch, that was my next pick.

The Addams Family John Astin and Carolyn Jones. Best classic sitcom parents ever? I think so.

New Joss Whedon Musical, Starrring Doogie Howser

Not much of a Whedon fan? Yeah, I actually rolled my eyes at the near-end twist because it's what Joss Whedon does in everything he writes. Everything else in the third act was great, though, especially the chorus of groupies and Fake Thomas Jefferson.

The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson Assuming that different hosts count as a different selection since I know someone else went with Leno. I mean. Honestly, he did the show for thirty years. No matter what I imagine I'm going to at least get some great stand-up comedy, some good and/or interesting interviews, and from a Guy Who Loves Useless Trivia standpoint this show will be perfect for me. It's from before my time, but hey, it's Johnny fucking Carson, man.

    The Emmy Nominations

God, the continual snubbing of The Wire is appallingly lame. The fact that arguably the best TV drama of all time will at most maybe if they're lucky end up with a Best Writing award is ridiculous.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/15/08)

Yeah, I caught that too. Dude clearly wasn't a plant, either, he was way too awkward for it. Dreamer vs. Henry on PPV? Well, hey, good for Tommy if he's finally getting a proper match on PPV for the first time in forever.

I knew Meet Dave was fucked the moment The Love Guru bombed.

    Box Office Report...

Isn't that like ten million better than the first Hellboy did on opening weekend?

    Desert Island Draft

Oh god, that episode was fucking brilliant. The "I think we need to build a space helicopter" "... unfortunately, that's impossible" exchange is probably one of the best moments in the entire series, and definitely Pickles' best moment. It's mostly the second season that hasn't worked for me aside from a couple of episodes (the one where Toki gets guitar lessons is pretty great). But then, I've only seen like the first half of it; maybe the second half is more consistently awesome.

American Splendor Fuck the superheroes, this is my favorite comic book movie of all time. Another movie I can just rewatch over and over again and it never stops being fantastic.

    Desert Island Draft

I think I'm starting to revert to a "when in doubt go with a British comedy" strategy. Red Dwarf Another show I've only seen a little of so it'll give me stuff I haven't seen, and it'll give me an obligatory sci-fi pick as well (or, well, there's Bebop too I guess).

    Alternate movie draft

Alright, cool. Spirited Away I have to have at least one animated feature, and while there's another one I'm eying I definitely need to get some Miyazaki first. This is just gorgeous to look at, and proof that hand-drawn animation can still be every bit as beautiful and awe-inspiring as CGI. Plus, I've got so many things with downer endings I need something to counterbalance it.

Shit right I knew I forgot something. Home Movies The only other Adult Swim series I think I want, and by far my favorite stuff from Soup2Nuts and/or Brendon Small (Metalocalypse is good but kind of hit-or-miss). I'm a huge sucker for witty, banter-heavy shows and as far as Adult Swim goes, especially the stuff left, this is sort of like a port in a storm.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/8/2008)

God, that was like a black hole of charisma with Ortiz and Lena.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/8/2008)

Man, unless the next guy to come in and beat Estrada is Colt Cabana, this New Superstar Initiative stuff needs to stop if all the matches are just going to be like these past two.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/8/2008)

To be fair, Chris Harris has been looking kind of fat for a while. But ah well, it's a step up from Atlas Ortiz last week.

    Spoilers for July 3rd.

I think his Japan debut vs. Ryo Saito is on Youtube. Definitely check that out for an example of how great Milano can be, though he doesn't wrestle that kind of style anymore.

    Spoilers for July 3rd.

I believe his mask has fake hair or something. Man, I was so psyched to see Milano and Yoshino back together again... and then I realized that it was Doi with Milano and they had just completely fucked up on that. Sigh, TNA. I was also disappointed that Milano wasn't busting out any llave goodness tonight and mostly just stuck with his impact moves.

    Alternate movie draft

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Man, I'm going with really upbeat movies on my list, aren't I. But yeah, this is another one of my definite all-time favorites, one of the first movies to really grab me as a true contender as being my all-time favorite. Plus I need some Jack Nicholson on my island, how can I not have Jack Nicholson?

Wait, what? Canadian Brandon just went before me, isn't it C Dubya's turn?

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/1/2008)

    Agreed. It's like he's a giant D-Ray 3000.

Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once; 'Allo 'Allo! I still lack a traditional sitcom, so I'll pick this one up. I've only seen the first three seasons but they are pretty much the old school, catchphrase and wacky misunderstanding-based sitcom formula done to absolute perfection. Even if the later seasons aren't as good (the third season was showing signs of humor decay), it gives me more stuff to watch for the first time, and when it's funny it's pretty fucking funny. Plus, it has Herr Flick, probably my favorite fictional Nazi of all time. The top of a very crowded field, for sure.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast Since Adult Swim/Williams Street programming is starting to go, I might as well pick up the only one of them that I really want before it gets snatched up.

    Alternate movie draft

Monty Python and the Holy Grail I think maybe I should just find a completely random excuse to draft something Python-related in every draft I'm in or something. But seriously, my favorite comedy of all time? Yes, very much so. The plot of Life of Brian is stronger but I think the jokes in Holy Grail are better.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (6/24/2008)

It's not really a big issue. Punk appears "one last time" and passes the proverbial torch to Matt. Who will leave ECW? Benjamin or Kofi? And really, ECW hasn't really adhered to the brand split since... oh, a month after it started when they started bringing in random big guys to face Big Show for the title. They made a vague explanation for Smackdown guys appearing with the talent exchange agreement, but even then the likes of The Highlanders were randomly showing up for no adequately explained reason.
