So I went to see Rasputina, who are like this gothic cello rock group. Naturally the band opening for them would be somewhat like them in style at the very least, right? Nope. Instead it's Audio Learning Center, who are probably the worst band I have ever seen live. They specialize in coming off like their long, dull songs are finally over... and then they start the damn song up again just to twist the knife even further. If you see them opening a concert you want to go to make sure to get there late unless you really want to be up front for the headliners THAT badly.

Ladder winning a Japanese Promotions belt.....
Mecha Mummy replied to DangerousDamon's topic in General Wrestling
Okay, so it was in DDT, which is a comedy-oriented indy in Japan. And MIKAMI, one of their top guys, frequently uses a ladder as a weapon and general prop. And they have the 24/7 title thing, which is pretty much what the hardcore title was a couple of years ago in WWF. And at one point the ladder presumably landed on the champion at the time and won the title. And I believe they immediately had a retirement ceremony for the ladder so it never actually lost the belt. EDIT: Darn. -
Well, yeah, but they can just outright say "Oh, you silly Canadians" on their programming to save face. When a crowd from the building that they've touted as their home base for decades, though, is tearing their product apart, THAT'S when it starts looking really bad.

Well, Matt Morgan's going to New Japan, so it's not like he's out of work or anything.

I think it had more to do with the fact that the media also had images of white people doing the same thing, except when they did it they were "finding food" as opposed to looting.

Digable Planets are fucking awesome live. And Ladybug Mecca is the hotness.

That's because it was fixed a few minutes ago. Previously it had a giant mass of hideously unfunny gay jokes.

I remember reading a rumor that Dan DiDio wants to price these things at 99 cents. If he does that I will almost certainly buy every one unless they do something to really piss me off, and with a talent list like that I don't think it's likely since I love Morrison, Waid, and Giffen, like Johns, and I think Rucka's decent enough (especially in Gotham Central).

I know I'm watching Arrested Development, My Name Is Earl, and The Office for sure. I'm not sure about anything else.

Speaking as someone who's seen Punk's indy work, it was almost definitely an off-night unless he really sucks at short matches.

I LOVE when people do that. Ric Flair did it too. Anyway, my favorite Rock moment was this promo on Sunday Night Heat that he cut on Billy Gunn sometime around KOTR '99 when they were feuding for whatever reason. I can't remember how it went (I would LOVE to find a transcript of it) but it had something to do with Gunn praying to god for... erm, some reason. Yeah. Like I said, I can't remember much about it, but I remember it being really, really excellent.

Kenta Kobashi v Samoa Joe is on
Mecha Mummy replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
I have a front-row ticket for Kobashi/Joe and I'm flying in from Seattle to see it. I'm so psyched. -
I'm going to Seattle's annual Labor Day weekend music/art/other stuff festival, Bumbershoot, for at least the first three days. On those first three days I intend to see Garbage, the New York Dolls, Digable Planets, the Pharcyde, Common, Talib Kweli, Elvis Costello, Harvey Danger, Visqueen, and Pretty Girls Make Graves, and possibly The Posies and Billy Preston as well.

For real??? That is one of the biggest misconceptions I have read here all year. Bendis is anti-continuity and ignores everyone elses work aside from his own. The New Avengers #2 jail break saw a lot of dead guys alive and kicking...like the Purple Man. JasonX can give his two cents here...I hope. But, wow, Bendis...good...with continuity... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Purple Man had come back long before New Avengers #2. It was in something like X-Man #34 according to some checking on Google. And a couple of the other guys (such as Mandrill) had randomly come back to life before they showed up in New Avengers. And it was actually brought up later on (like issue #6 or something) that like a fourth of the people in the prison place were legally dead or missing, but I think that's more Bendis covering up for a mistake he was called on than anything else.

When was this? The overbooked Armageddon '01 match where it took Vince McMahon, Crooked Referee Nick Patrick, and Booker T for Jericho to win or the No Way out 2002 match where Jericho didn't even get the win but instead the nWo came out and beat up Austin?

Blossom: The E! True Hollywood Story

And as far as I'm concerned that was the ONLY funny thing to come from the existence of that show. -

I love how Volkoff is staring directly at the camera when he has lines. Excellent stuff. -

Well, it also made over twice the amount that Deuce Bigalow made this weekend.

I'd like to see Young get the win they're clearing building to in one of the matches in this tournament.

Since we have to watch it... (Diva Search 2005)
Mecha Mummy replied to zyn081's topic in The WWE Folder
Ashley seems to be the token girl who actually wants to wrestle this year (like Michelle McCool last year), so she gets my vote. Even if the whole Avril look is rather irksome. -
Best understatement ever.
