Who the hell is that? I've never heard of him before. And Smackdown looks horrible this week with Velocity looking fairly dull as well.
-
Well, hell, EDGE is burying Matt on the stick right now.
-
Meh. He'd make a better IC champ than Carlito does at the very least.

Why do they keep booking Richards against these people? Nothing good will ever, EVER come of it.

New Guys To WWE Debuting on Heat/Velocity
Mecha Mummy replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
I think I remember reading about Ultimo being frustrated with the way WWE used him that he just decided to go back to Japan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, he wouldn't have killed off his Ultimo Dragon persona in Japan if he wasn't under the impression that he'd get to go back to WWE if he did it. WWE was like "we're going to bring you back, except without your mask." So Ultimo did a final show as Ultimo Dragon in Japan and then expected to come back to WWE soon after, and it never happened. So Ultimo wrestles as Ultimo outside of Japan and as The Tiger (a Tiger Mask knock-off, more or less) in Japan. -
RZA, GZA, Doom, and DEL? Very, very stoked.

Meh. The thing about Cordry that I don't like is that at no point do I ever buy him as a guy who could be on a news show. I know that sounds silly because the Daily Show is fake news and all, but outside of Frank DeCaro and possibly Mo Rocca, the Daily Show's contributors all tend to look and act like respectable newspeople (even Bob Wiltfong, but just barely)... and then they actually start talking and it all goes to hell. Cordry... meh. He's funny but he's too over-the-top for my tastes.
-
Blasphemy. Cordry WISHES he could be as good as Stephen Colbert.

The thing about that show is that I don't think it's intended to be funny in the first place (I've watched like a grand total of one hour of his show in the past three years at the most, half an hour of that being the night that a band I was really liking in '03 was going to be on). He occasionally makes bad jokes or whatever but it's more of a show that focuses on the guests entirely rather than doing the monologue, skit, guest, skit, guest, musical performance format or whatever. It's also pretty damn boring, but hey.

Craig Ferguson is the epitome of "funny person, bad talk show host." I love him in everything else I've seen him in, but as a talk show host he's just sort of "meh." Indeed. Carson Daly replacing Conan O'Brien would be a complete and utter disaster because people watch late night talk shows looking for humor and Carson Daly, on his own, is about as funny as dirt (the most I can say for him is that, well, he tends to have good chemistry with Conan as a guest, but that's it).

Last year there was a band called Screaming Wolf Penis that entered a competition to determine the shittiest band in Seattle. I've yet to hear anything as bad as that in terms of band names.

Somewhat of a Lollapalooza Report-type thing

Did you see Digable Planets and if so, were they good? -
Gorillaz definitely deserve mention. In 2001 they got a lot of mainstream attention for an interesting gimmick and a catchy single, and then from mid-2002 onwards, they completely faded into obscurity (not counting the most recent Blur record, of course). Then this year they come out of nowhere with Feel Good Inc. and Demon Days debuts in the top ten for albums. Definitely a very strong comeback for them this year.

Either The Verve or The Ramones.

Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events: Director Brad Silverberg and the real Lemony Snicket's commentary. Really, really brilliant stuff.

On the night of the Billy/Chuck wedding there was a guy with a sign that said "Hot Tag." In every tag match that evening he'd raise the sign whenever a hot tag was about to occur and kept it up until it was over.

How terrifying is it when the girl who finished last place in the Diva Search may know more about WWE than the people who were signed to write for it?
-
I know of Abdominal. His stuff's pretty damn good, though in terms of Format collaborators I think I prefer D-Sisive.
-
I can't believe that I would ever, EVER be EXCITED for this match, but with the build-up it's gotten I am. I'm kind of surprised that they're doing it on Impact instead of the PPV too. And since the contract bullshit's been revealed to be false, damn. I want to see this PPV. I mean, I actually care about the angles and such for the first time since 2003.
-
Seconded.

Wow. That's like sixteen million higher than I thought it would get. Impressive.
