This being my last commentary of the year 2002, I thought I would take a look back at what I feel were important and interesting things of the past year. These won’t be in any particular order. I will deal with wrestling first and then some personal stuff. I worked the two largest crowds of my career in 2002. I wrestled in front of some 56,000 people in Melbourne Australia as part of the “Global Warning Tour”, and I hit Sky Dome in Toronto and it’s 76,000 fans for WrestleMania X8. Unfortunately I missed out on my first chance at being on the WrestleMania card, but my Sunday Night Heat 6-Man match did get me in front of that awesome crowd in Toronto. I also finally beat my Saddle Dome curse, in Calgary, by finally getting a match in my hometown after 2 consecutive failed attempts with WWE. WWE had an eventful year, which kept me, as well as you fans, on our toes. We did “THE SPLIT” or brand extension, if you will, changed to WWE from WWF, and I then got traded from SmackDown to RAW. The split was a real stressful time for me. The office went to great lengths to keep the split roster line ups quite. In order to keep the end results off the net they told no one where they would end up. Believe it or not the night of the big “Draft” I left the building after the show and had to phone a buddy of mine and ask him to go on-line and check the WWF web site to tell me which show I was on. Thankfully I was on SmackDown with most of my closer friends. The split did lead to more TV time for me as we soon formed the Un-Americans, which turned out to be a very good, if somewhat of a short run. Christian and I won the WWF Tag Team titles, which led to a few more PPV appearances. Match highlights for me were a house show in Pittsburgh where I finally got to wrestle Ric Flair. Christian and I defended the Tag Titles against Flair and Taker, which was a lot of fun. I took the Flair slam of the top (Yes I got him to bump me for a change. He was after all the baby face) and got chopped by the Nature Boy. Dreamer even mentioned that night that he thought he saw a little something in our chemistry together and figured that there could be money in a Storm-Flair feud. Unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be in the cards. In addition to Flair I got to wrestle Hulk Hogan. If being in the ring with one of, if not the biggest name in the business wasn’t memorable enough, this was just plain fun. We (Christian and I) worked with Edge and Hulk Hogan several times and had the time of our lives. Working with Edge is always great and the Hulkster was at a point in his life where he was just having fun. He developed a trust in us quickly and was willing to do anything we suggested. The energy level Hogan brings out of a crowd cannot be explained and if I had never been in there to experience it, I would never have believed it. Hard Core fans can bury him all they want for his work rate but take it from me (a long time Hogan critic) he’s the man. No one hates working with shitty workers more than me, and I’d wrestle Hogan any day! After our Hogan & Edge run we got traded to RAW. This had both its ups and downs and eventually led to the disbanding of the Un-Americans and the forming of my current tag team with William Regal. Along with my new team came my new out fit. This was a topic of great debate here for a while, but I think everyone, myself included has gotten used to me in trunks. Those are my career highlights for 2002 as I can remember them, but I had a few non-wrestling happenings this past year as well. 2002 marked my 10th anniversary of being with my wife (only our 8th wedding anniversary but 10 years together), the 20th anniversary of being in the gym, and the first anniversary of Book Marks. Book Marks has turned into a real passion for me and it has grown into a real rewarding hobby. I’m working on contacting new authors all the time and constantly trying to encourage more people to take part in my club. The club has revitalized my interest in reading and belief it or not I’ve actually read 55 novels this year alone. I’ve managed to connect with a High School in Timmins Ontario, which has taken part in Book Marks, and I will continue with that relationship while hopefully reaching out to more school to encourage reading and literacy. If all that doesn’t keep me busy enough I developed a new hobby this year as well. My wife, my brother and I took a rock climbing class at our local YMCA and have all fallen in love with it. It is a great challenge and an amazing stress releaser. I don’t get to do it often enough but I’m make the effort as often as possible. If you’ve never tried it give it a try, you won’t believe how much fun it can be. That’s it for this year, Happy New Year everyone! Lance Credit: http://www.stormwrestling.com/

They probably showed it because it was most likely the top voted Raw moment. I don't have any footage of the event so....what DID he say?
-
Tapes of Bret? Nah, 'das okay. Personally, I'd rather get tapes of Stevie Richards in ECW, or Raven interviews.....but, hey, that's just me.
-
Sure it was annoying...but enough to stop you from watching? I think that's going a bit too far. The run-in made sense because RVD was the reason HHH was in the hospital, and we all the story between HHH and HBK. Besides, didn't this set up next week's match of HHH vs RVD, w/ HBK as Special Ref?
-
It may not count for much, Spiderpoet, but I'm thankful.

I feel a need to defend myself... A half-smark? Just curious, what is that? And if I ever went to an indy show or WWE show (tv, house show, etc) I wouldn't waste time with yelling at other fans. I'd be paying attention to the wrestlers in the ring, and if it was boring, I'd chat with the fans around me, mainly because it'd be great to talk to an actual person whose a fan of wrestling. *sigh* I'm practically the only person in my family whose a fan, with my mom being a casual fan. They're not hugging, thank you. Those two pics are from an epiosde of Heat, and came from scottlevy.com, a HUGE Raven site. My gal pal (The Banner Goddess~!) offered to make a banner, so I gave her the idea of Raven/Stevie. Considering I change my banner almost daily, I'll try and not use that banner since it offends you. Trust me, I have many more banners to fill in my ever-changing siggy. Yes, I did start watching a year ago, but I don't see how that could make me annoying. Since I became a fan, I started doing research on my fave stars, renting old PPVs, etc. I don't know how many PPVs I've rented during this year, but I do know I've taped 3 tapes worth. (Copyright...what copyright? Seriously, why doesn't WWF/E copyright their PPVs?) Plus, my mom has bought a few vids for me off eBay. (Feel the Bang, It's True It's True, D-X, Best of RAW vol.1, Summerslam '98, Best of Raw vol.1&2 DVD) Well, if I came on the boards and acted like I knew everything and I only started watching a year ago, THEN I could possibly sound annoying. But, to my knowledge, I haven't done that. And if I have, then I'm sorry.

The Austin/Flair angle. Especially him "peeing" on Arn...that was SOO NOT needed! I'm not sure if Double A is a legend in wrestling or not, but still, that was quite unnecessary. (I probably spelled that wrong..*sigh* ) Katie Vick storyline. I was bitchin' about this during HHH's promo (you know the one..where he says Kane is a rapist and stuff) to my guy pal. I'm saying how it's NOT needed in WWE and he didn't seem bothered by it. When asked why, he said he didn't find the whole angle offensive...just dumb. The nWo become Austin's bitches/jobbers. Anything having to do with Hogan and motorcycles. The only good thing about HOG-an stealing 'Taker's bike is we got to see the leather coat on UT... UT's retaliation? Dragging Hogan around on the floor, while both UT and Hogan looked completely dumb. That has got to be the dumbest thing ever.... The announcers angle. Although Lillian was very brave to take that bump and trusting her life in Rosie and Jamaal's hands. Nowinski/Molly virgin angle. Nowinski talking about "bursting through Molly's hymen" was WAY too much info. Besides, what guy talks like that? Although I hate any time an angle is dropped, I think I'll make an exception with this one. HLA...the MOST annoying catch-phrase of them all. King made SURE to drill it into our heads enough times too. And they actually made a t-shirt for this!?!? Although Stephy kicking Bischoff in the southern regions was kinda funny. EDIT: Speaking of angles being dropped, what the hell happened to Bischoff and Steph kissing? It happened......then not a damned thing came out of it.

TLC was quite good, and it deserved it's MOTY spot. Even if Kane won....ah well. The match was still good. By the way, did anyone else notice Y2J move over and put his legs on the ladder to steady it? That was kinda amusing, and it would've been interesting to see Kane fall on his ass if that ladder fell. I hate how almost all the Smackdown 6 did was ignored. What about Kurt/Benoit vs Eddy/Chavo in the final Tag Tournament? I find it interesting that the internet complains most about the mid-card/undercard/uppercard guys...yet 99% of their work is completely ignored.

Aw dammit! Ya do this after I've spent all my XMas money. Grrr to you, just grrr!

I didn't watch back then, but even I started to get misty eyed when they showed that clip. Damn Jarret, Shane, Edge and Foley. Chyna was the only one that bothered me...she was like a statue...just staring off into the distance. It was just...creepy. Even though everyone hates Vince, every smark and mark has to feel sorry for him. Can you just IMAGINE what the decision was like to continue with the PPV? If he had NOT continued with it, you'd have fans angry because they lost some money, but if he did continue with it....who would be able to wrestle, or cut a promo, after THAT?? By the way, for anyone who did see it....just what happened? I heard that the cable broke, or he released too early, he fell....far away shot of the crowd....then goodl ol' JR saying he died. And what happened AFTER? *raises hand* Right here! Since I started watching, I've only missed two shows, one Raw, and one SD.
-
Ah, you remembered me! I feel special! But come on, even all the slash haters have to admit how slashy HHH/HBK are. I laugh every time I see that video... JR: "They're closer than a lot of brothers".......then we see HBK KISS HHH!!! Now, I've seen "brothers" do that... I could go on to say how CERTAIN brothers are very slashy, even though they're on different shows......but I won't. *coughhardyze&ccough*

Myers mentioned something about this in the behind-the-scenes featurette. I can't remember what it was, though. Ah, well, I'll be getting the DVD in the mail soon. Dr. Evil and Goldmember basically ruled in this video. Yeah, it was funny when Goldmember told both Austin and Evil that they were tight like a tiger. Dr. Evil came back "that's not something you should tell another guy..." That was too cute. Hmmmm....I once read a Scott/Austin story. It was made before the third film soo....does it count as incest?
-
Oh, I forgot about Sex, Lies, and Headlocks! I'll have to check and see if my local library has it. If not, then I'll buy it off eBay when I got more money.... Edit on last post: I also read Kurt Angle's book....twice! My mom bought The Rock's book, but I'm not interested enough to read it.
-
No, I only meant when I first started watching, which was December '01.

How'd they waste Two-Face? Tommy Lee Jones made an excellent Two-Face, IMO. Plus, I liked the...umm...place they built for him, with the innocent gal on one side, and the kinky gal on the other. "Batman and Robin" may have been not as great as "Batman Returns", but it was okay. Am I the only one that cringed when they infected that one dude with that toxin? And what is with the neon gangs? They were................interesting. Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy were very entertaining in their roles, just like Riddler and Two Face before them, just like Catwoman and Mr. Penguin before THEM. The series is great for the villains, even if the superheros are boring. Although Penguin eating a raw fish and biting a guy's nose, causing it to bleed, was also creepy. Back on topic, though... I think the James Bond series has really done too many sequels. I haven't seen any of the movies, but I'm sure I could sum up a Bond movie easily: Evil guy wants to do something bad to the world, Bond shows off a bunch of cool gadgets and (un)witty lines, Bond Girl also spouts some (un)witty lines, Bond and Bond Girl save the world.

Ya know, I'm a failure at Math...why can't Mathamatics be more like Mattamatics? The world would be a better place... Another biography to read! Yay for me! Let's see...I'v read Mick's first book, just won the second on eBay (for 2.99 + shipping...amazingly), I've read Chyna's book (and waiting for X-Pac's), I just finished Hogan's yesterday, and I also won DDP's book on eBay (7.50 +shipping). Lance Storm mentioned he's working on his book, and I have no doubt that 'Taker and HBK will come out with a book sometime in the near future.

Rebellious Ravey? Yummy! I hope they finally ditch the kilt, and go back to cut-off jeans and the leather jacket. Or at the very least, stick to the black pants and the odd-looking open jacket with no shirt underneath. The example of this outfit is what he wore when he "challenged" Lawler to an impromptu match on Raw. For reference sake, that RAW is also the one where Nash returned as the leader of the nWo, and Eddy Guerrero proudly displayed his awful singing skills. There's a name for the jacket, but I can't think of it.

Ummmmm....no. "Slash" is used because a " / " (slash) is used in all the pairings....ie, Rico/Brock, HBK/X-Pac... and on the other side... Trish/Victoria. You get the idea. -
--My local video rental store. It has only a FEW of WWF/E ppvs, and I've watched them all! Yet, a video store miles away has a wall of WWF/E and WCW ppvs....and I rarely get to go there! --WCW videos that include Hogan in almost EVERY segment..especially when the video isn't even a full hour! --People who blame Triple H for holding down ever star. Perhaps there's a good reason RVD doesn't get the belt? --Hardy Boyz haters. The posters over at LoPForums can be so cruel! Especially a certain poster with a muppets siggy. I don't remember his ID, and sadly I can' go and check, since my IP addy was banned. --Wrestling fanatics. I'm sure we've all encountered one or both of these types of people. There's the idiots who proclaim their wrestler is the BEST EVER and refuse to watch anyone else and/or only watch the shows for that certain wrestler. Of course, this CAN be a good thing...my mom ordered Summerslam and Survivor Series simply because HBK was on it..even though she had said there would be no more PPVs after Vegeance due to financial issues. Then there's the second type of fanatics...the haters. They hate a certain wrestler no matter what...and I'm not talking about the latest "trend" in hating HHH either. --Teen magazine cover girls. When did anemic girls become the latest trend? Seriously, I've seen some gals on magazine covers that look like a small gust of wind could knock them down. You also have the fake/perfect gals on these covers that probably would be nothing without an airbrush artist. --Teen magazine articles. My mom signed up for a free year's subscription to Seventeen, and I so wish she hadn't. The only good article in there is hard questions...the rest is a bunch of bull. "What's in her bag" Has got to be the dumbest thing ever. Some hollywood star talks about what makeup they use....puh-f'n-lease! Like anyone cares?! Then they have "how to make your [insert body part here] look like the star's!" And let's not forget the "letters" sent in. I remember seeing one with something along the lines of "I was staring at a girl today..does that make me bi?". Yeah, we wouldn't your "gal pals" finding out about that, now would we? Or "I found porn files on the family computer...what should I do?". Sooo, your parents aren't allowed to have some fun?? --Shows dedicated to Hollywood Stars, ie, Entertainment Tonight. The "headlines" they put on that show are so asinine. Example "When we come back, we'll talk with [insert star's name here] and he/she tells all about [insert some affair, cheating lover, etc.]" --Toilet humor. Now, I'll admit, that some jokes are kinda funny. But the bad ones...are just disgusting. 5 minutes of Fat Bastard (Austin Powers in Goldmember) sniffing his own farts is NOT funny and it amazes me that it was left in. --Wannabes. The wannabe rappers, talking like they're black, ie, Eminem. Then there's the wannabe gals that do everything their friend does, or copies a certain group, or mimicks their fave star. --Stupid movies. Kung-Pow, or whatever the hell it's called, has got to win the dumbest movie award. --Dubbed version of Sailor Moon. I used to be a fan of this a few years ago. (I mark for anime guys...most, anyway.) Anyway, for those not in the know, the S or SS series features two lesbian Senshi (known as Sailor Scouts in the dubbed version). In Japan, I'm guessing the show is mature, but here, it's a KID'S show. And we can't have lesbians on a kid's show...that might...*gasp*...show kid's the real world! So, they changed the lesbians into COUSINS. WTF?!?!?! How does dubbing them "cousins" explain that Haruka and Mirchiru (dubbed Amara and Michelle) are "closer" than the other Senshi? Since I brought up this subject, I might as well point out another case of homophobia. In the very beginning of the series the evil Queen (her name escapes me) has her four generals: Jadeite, Nephlite (sp?), Zoisite, and Malachite. In the Japanese version, all four are guys and the last two (Zoisite and Malachite) are......close. But, we can't have THAT on a kid's show now can we? So, they made Zoisite a female. Which is really dumb, because anyone with eyes can notice Zoisite's chest is completely FLAT. Plus, Zoisite's English dubbed voice is annoying! Her laugh is like a hyena and ultra high-pitched. --Anime Dubbed voices. I just thought of this one. Why are most, if not all, female cartoon voices extremely high-pitched and/or whiny? For the first few seasons Sailor Moon's voice was whiny, but for the most part, it sounded okay. The last season, though... It's not just anime, either. My little sis's fave show is "Baby Loony Toons" and the voices in that show just make you grind your teeth in agony. --People who call you, but don't say anything. If you're going to call, then say something, dammit! That's about all I can think of...
-
I used to cheer for SC and marked out for Rock embarassing Vinny Mac when he closed the "Kiss My Ass club". Plus, I used to think wrestling was real. This was around the time I started watching last year.
-
Yeah, seriously. I mean, I was looking forward to the next few weeks of Heat, just to see Raven and his "masterpiece". And Heat was just starting to get some credibility, too! At least I think it was...at least it had an actual..*gasp*..storyline, unlike Velocity. I'd be surprised if WWE didn't continue the story on Raw. Without it, what other storyline does Ravey have?

Hey, you're welcome!
