Well that makes sense in a not kind of way. Inventing closer usually isn't the smartest plan since Hollywood closure kinda ends up having more holes that make it worse. Depends on the film, really. Remember From Hell. One of those Jack the Ripper flicks - based on a graphic novel - that had closure to it. In reality the facts are waaaaaay off, but it made for good drama. I've read a lot of bad stuff about Dahlia, which sucks because it seems like it would be good. If you're wanting a great flick, which also has Hartnett in the lead, check out Lucky Number Slevin. Did I mention Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley act together in that?

Unfortunately, I'd say you are. But I'm no expert, so a registry cleaner MAY rid you of this problem. I really wouldn't know... Your best bet, I think, would be the Daemon Tools route.

Since I don't think I've seen it done here

I've missed all of the classics of any 'era'. I have been downloading as many eps as I could recently, any of those great episodes of Ferrell. Any recommendations? Aside from the 'Best Of' series... I've a few faveorites, but have that just-awakened-can't-think syndrome... "Lifeguard". Jim Carrey as an over-enthused lifeguard, and Ferrell as the straight/confused guy -- comedy gold. any Celebrity Jeopardy skit. There are others, I just need to wait for my brain to wake up. -
Inspired by the Oregon Trail post, this is somewhat of a continuation. What are games that, by today/your standards, are of inferior quality to what you usually would play. The badness could be due to graphics, AI, voice acting... whatever. It's a bad game, yet you love it all the same. The type of game ya dust off every so often just for the walk down memory lane. What are some examples of that? For me, it would be the King's Quest series, or the two I've played (VI: Heir Toay, Gone Tomorrow and VIII: Mask of Eternity). The latter is fairly recent, but its graphical quality is on par with the first Tomb Raider.

If you take out the humor and great voice acting (narration and summons could be their own category), you basically have your typical RPG. Talk to this townsperson, fight this creature, buy new armor/weaponry... it makes fun of the usual cliches, whilst simultaneously falling into them. I still highly recommend. The narrator hating you leads to comedy gold. Yeah, if playng with cutesy outfits and impossible battles is your thing. ...Okay, that sounds harsh. I'll admit the game has some good points to it. The voice acting is great and the graphics are even better than FFX's. Payne is the best character ever. At least in the FF series... but let's not get into *that* debate. What killed the game for me was its percentage completion, and in order to get 100%, some things were just impossible to do (I forget what they are now...) What was the point? Blitzball kick's Sphere Break's ass any day.

What is so bad about Dell? Their customer service kinda sucks, but aside from my fucking up in the registry, I've never had a problem with this laptop. My Latitude does that perfectly. ...Well, define "low end" I have no problems playing Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, for instance, but Bloodlines? Forget it -- way out of my poor video card's league. To use a more recent example, I was also able to play "Indigo Prophecy", the demo of it, but I'm not sure how the comp would handle the full game. On the upside, games like "Still Life", "Syberia 1 & 2", and "Post Mortem" play without a problem.

The first time I tried installing 'net Explorer 7, it came back with an error, so thusly I tried one of their solutions. Which was to go into my register and allow full control on the main HKEYS - right clicking, goin to Permissions, etc. I put Full Control/Read on the user groups, everyone, administrator (which, being the admin, I should've already had...) And then I restarted. Now my desktop won't load and I keep getting a pop up error message for my Dell Wireless Card. Always, non-stop. "Encountered an error and needs to close", that one. I can access the Task Manager and the Registry Editor, but trying to open anything is MAJOR LAG. It doesn't help that the Wireless Card error message is popping up all the time, thus proving difficult to get to the Start Menu (I'm trying to restore to a system point). Basically, I think I fucked up in the registry, adding permissions which conflicted with others. I'd REALLY hate to crash as I have a lot of important documents on my laptop. Can anyone help? It would be muchly appreciated.

It all depends on what you're going to use the laptop for - business, gaming, browsing - and what sort of budget you're looking at. I use a Dell Latitude 110L, which is basic-of-basics. Good for browsing (yes) and vidding/editing (barely) but when it comes to gaming... not so much. 40gb for one thing, and Intel Integrated graphics for another. I've no problems with programs crashing, though with ripping from dvds for editing purposes, I very quickly run out of space. Aside from that, I recommend it. Couldn't tell you a price, though; I got mine from school via loans.

http://www.tsl-game.com/home.php Well this certainly seems interesting. Anyone play its trial yet, or know when the full version will be released?

Final Fantasy X Bloodrayne 2 (1 is okay; 2 is sheer greatness) Resident Evil 4 (I loved this to death--quite literally, actually. It was the killer of my PS2 ) The Bard's Tale (Cary Elwes makes this game worthwhile) X-Men/X-Men: Rise of Apocalypse (-BAMF!-) Psi-Ops (TK owns the world.)

Damn if you didn't just take me back just now. I didn't play all of the King's Quest games only... two so far. My older sister had KQ 8: Mask of Eternity and... damn, I can't remember the other one. You played the Prince of Daventry and he was cast ashore by a broken down ship... there was a beauty and the beast subplot in there... he met a bookworm, I think... Anyway. KQ 8 seemed like the greatest thing EVAR when she first got it (we played the game together; I was the hands/mouse and she was the feet/keyboard). Cheesy as all hell, sure, but an awesome story. Playing it recently though sure as hell breaks that charm. Horrible grapics even by its release. Still... I wonder if there are any torrents for the games. I always meant to play the one KQ where you play a chick. I feel like I'm 14 again. o.o EDIT: The first KQ I mentioned turns out to be "King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow". Man, I loved that game.

You said it, not me. I just posted a promo pic of S2.

Dr. Wilson and Dr. House.

Aside from show how much money and time the 'creators' had... what was the point of that?

So I'm checking my usual sites when I'm bored, one of which is DVDTown and guess what movie takes up the most space on the homepage? Bottoms Up, with Paris Hilton.

?Que? Guro is Japanese Erotique Grotesque. In other words: Anything with piss, shit, disembolement, dismemberment, rape, tentacles, or well, anything that sickos get off on. How do I know this? A creepy anime fan told me. I never spoke to him again after he told me that. Now, that's just being overgeneralizing. I for one don't 'get off' on it, or even find it arousing at all. It's more or less interesting art to look at on a boring day. Well, some of it anyway -- I really can't stand the more gory-gutsy kind. I still don't get the love for amputees, either. Not all guro is the same, just like not all porn is the same. Me, I'm more of a pretty-boys-and-blood kinda person. Everything else is just 'Eh. How boring.' And you thought yaoi was the worst. Ha.

I loved the hunting bit - it was so 2d and cheap, I'd spend hours on that. A lot of it would spoil, but who cares? Oregon Trail 3 - with the real people acting out parts - was also fun, though the wagon mates got really annoying. Cheesy overacting to the extreme. Anyone try 4 or 5, or any of the other editions?

I completely agree. I honestly don't see how anyone could find her sexy. Unless you're into guro or something. Other than that... ew.

You may, but... I don't own an Xbox 360. Nor will I ever, really. For many reasons, it's not my type of system. For the most part, I've satisfied my gaming appetites on PC games, what little there actually is that is both good and playable on my system. Things like Still Life, Vampire the Masquerade Redemption, and the Syberia series seem surprisingly rare. Which is sad, as all four had great stories (the former two being of the dark/mature variety) and flawless animation that never lagged on my system. In looking up similar games, particuraly in role-playing, the results are disappointing. Thanks for the recs. anyway. ^-^

No. Is it supposed to?

Well, there's one of your problems. You own a Dell. Yes, well, a Dell looks pretty damn good when its free. Through my college loans I was able to get it for virtually nothing; of course I'll eventually have to pay it all back. (and now I hear from other classmates they're now offering 60gb laptops -- mine was only 40. Bitches.) I got it in Feb. and so far I've never had any problems. Many of my editing friends are surprised I can Premiere Pro 1.5 on here without any crashes. But on the related subject of my computer, I was looking online for upgrades out of curiosity and I see I could get a DVD-R/RW/CD-R/CD-RW combo for around $180. Seems like a good deal for an all-in-one drive, but how would that upgrade work? I mean, if I get it, would installing it affect my hard drive (in terms of losing any data)?

The PS3 vs Wii - Apple Style video was lame. Pointing out its obvious bias and gratuitousness is more or less a 'duh' kind of statement, so I'll resist. I think the PS3-girl is more attractive and would be, uh... more fun to play. The comments to the video are amusing in that random-intraweb kind of way. wii is voor kiddo's en mario lovers ps3 is er voor Gran Turismo in hd.. kan niet wachten let maar op ps3 euned elke console (weer). It's hard to believe I've been without console video games for almost a year (lost the ps2 in November). Good times. In terms of next-gen systems, my interest lies soley with PS3. If RE5 proves to be anything like RE4, it's a game I'd love to buy at its release. The Final Fantasy series and Devil May Cry are also the main titles for me. Other than that, FPSs, fantasy, and adventure/action are the genres I stick to. Consider me uninformed, though.

After talking with Dell's tech support twice (going over what happened at least twenty times...), their first solution was to uninstall the wireless adapter and then go online to redownload. Good thing I could hook up mom's cable connection downstairs... That seemed to help, if only a little. When starting up I go tthe message: "Notification dll did not register successfully, and will not function". But at least I could get to my desktop after a long wait. Everything is still slow, but I'm still able to run programs. I've backed up most of my files either thru online storage or on CDs, and I'll crash it later tonight. And to clarify, I only use Internet Explorer for my online classes. The site does not work properly in Firefox. Other than that, it's Firefox all the way for me -- nothing can beat tabbed windows.
