Oh, good grief... are they desperate for an audience or something? Must be, if they're channeling the trashy-urban-whoreiffic demographic.

I can kind of get why she'd be ticked...since she was in a nominated film this year... But he should be thrilled. Why else do you think, the academy put them together as presenters? I had some comment in mind about how the two look bored, and some kind of elaboration on that -- but your awesome sig shut me up.

I'll be getting a 40 gb laptop next week and I'm currently burning a lot of my files to discs for transfer (parents will have the desktop, I'll have the laptop). However, my problem is that my movie files are too big to fit on discs. I won't be able to get internet for the laptop for a couple months. Is there any other way to transfer files from the dekstop to the laptop? Thanks for the help ^^

Hm... Does your clip require sound? And, of course, how long is it? In my recent acquisitions of some Blade clips for an upcoming mvid, ya can be damn sure I'm not ripping the whole movie. I use the set frames option to get my clips, and disable sound (no sound = smaller sizes). After getting your clip, if it is too big, make the res smaller in the AVI-MPEG Converter - ie, 592x320 for widescreen - and set 'Same Quality' to false. This will lessen the size.

Copied from my post at PlanetVampire: I tried googling nVidia GeForce graphic cards for laptop - after trying to navigate through the confounding site - and there's just so many choices, so many results per search... gives me a headache trying to figure out which one is best. I'm looking for nVidia GeForce - anything to be able to play the game smoothly - yet one that isn't too pricy. Say in the $30 - $50 range. Any suggestions/pointers/good deals? ^^ Thanks in advance -- forums such as these are quite the lifesaver.

A field I know plenty about. I've written a tutorial for DVD Rips -- what to get, the cracks as needed, and what to do. It's posted at my LJ, so hope you don't mind. The method I most prefer is using DVD Shrink, TMPGEnc, Imago, and Xilisoft MPEG-AVI Converter -- don't worry, it sounds more complicated than it actually is. All but Xilisoft are freeware programs. I'm open for any questions ya might have.

I'm so looking forward to this game -- even without a PS2. It's that damn good. Jesse McCartney? Don't know 'im, and I don't want to know him. He's another of those bubblegum Disney teeners whose all fluff and style. Hope his voice is good, anyway. Chris fuckin' Lee! That is worth a fan-squee. Or fifty. His publicity photo deserves an added twenty. It'll be interesting to see Paine in KH form.

This laptop is quite nifty - it has the wireless card, so it automatically seeks out nearby networks. Most are secured and locked, yet there is one that isn't. Out of curiosity, I clicked connect just to see if I could...and it was successful ^^ Pretty fast 'net, too. Though, I do have a few questions. In using this unsecured network, am I detectable? Could they access anything on my computer?

My two cents. Unfortunately, I was also of the immature, sophmoric crowd. While they didn't laugh for the sex scene - dead silence, in fact - anytime the two characters were spotted (Ennis's wife seeing the kiss, the ranger seeing the two shirtless) it got a chuckle. The 'Jack nasty!' also caused a few snickers. Quite uncomfortable viewing experience, actually. The editor in me winced with all the fades. Well, not -every- cut, just from one scene to the next. I think this was used to transport us through the necessary time transitions. However, as someone else points out later, the characters were aged so little that the only way the audience had to judge time was by each respective duo of offspring. Jack grew a moustache and a middle-aged man's pot-belly, yet Ennis didn't appear to age at all. I think this was entirely intentional. He's the type of guy who wouldn't say much, nor open up. I think this has something to do with his bastard of a father. After all, if a dad would show his young kids the scene of a brutal murder, who else knows what he did? Probably the kind of guy who thinks any type of emotion of sentimentality is 'queer', a trait passed on to Ennis. Unfortunately, I have to somewhat agree here. While I don't think the two would immediately start writing sonnets and serenading one another before they leave Brokeback, they were a bit too repressed in their personalities - at least with Ennis - to the point that we couldn't quite get a feel for what they were thinking. Jack visiting Mexico for once a month, or whenever, and then getting all bitchy when Ennis opts to spend the day with his kids really disconnected me from the character. I understand he's posessive, and understand his angst for only getting to see Ennis so rarely, and yet... it didn't seem that he was really in love, just incredibly horny. Aside from the two living in different states, the two refusing to meet up for anything other than a booty call was really sad -- sad as in this story could've been much more. With all of that said, I'll be the first to root on for its Oscar win - just as I will be for 'Corpse Bride' ^^ - as, hell, just being nominated is a step toward mainstream acceptance. Kinda like with Ray... the movie itself wasn't good (though, admittedly, Foxx did a superb job) but it was the essential greenlight for other biopics.

After searching around, I've decided to get a USB HUB - either Q-Stor or IOGear, depending on budget (I'd much prefer the latter ^^) - and use that to transfer files. That seems the cheapest route to go. Sadly, I do not know a friend who has an ext. hard drive. Indeed. But, that's Time Warner for you. To install cable tv - your basic, up to channel 70 kinda thing - to another tv entails a $20 set-up fee, although no added extra on the bill. I really do appreciate all the assistance and help that has been posted. Just wanted to mention that ^^

Don't have the laptop yet, so currently our setup is the desktop directly hooked up to the modem via USB. Called our provider about wireless - $30 for setup, $5 added each month on the bill - which we can't afford at the moment. Thus, a not-so-legal curiosity arises: a neighbor two houses - we live in a building that has six apartments side by side - has wireless. In my readings for networking, I hear of 'hotspots' and how to connect to 'em. Sure you know where this is going... any way to connect to what he has?
-
I attempted to do so for a bit, yet a few that I saw required money... which I don't have (the laptop is an offer from my college, to be paid back in a few months with all of my other loans). But I did look up ways to network the two; most of what I saw in that search seemed to require a usb cable and some other router.. I forget the name -- hud? -- and yet others mentioned that if both have a wireless card, then such isn't required. I know the laptop has that, not sure about the desktop. Question. Would a simple connection utilizing a single usb cable work just for file transfer?

Right now, I'd be happy to play just about -any- ps2 game. Currently PS2-less due to an unfortunate meeting of Mountain Dew with my ps2's fan. Snap-crackle-pop, my $15,000 victory over Dr. Salvador in RE4 means nothing. Still pissed over that ><; Game sounds interesting and will certainly check out the vids. As for the tits comment... I thought they were, uhm, toning her down in the funbag department? Opting for more realism and all that jazz.

Started to watch it, yet the accents were too hard to understand. And I'm usually all for accents, particuraly of the British sort -- huge fan of 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' and 'Jeeves and Wooster'.

Not in the sense of a galactic "Phoenix Force" that Jean taps into. Or her wiping out an alien race. Just wait until we have people bitching because Juggernaut's a mutant (his powers are supposed to be magical). As to Juggernaut's look, he looks great in the comics, but that costume is just impossible to adapt in any way faithfully and not look absolutely ridiculous. One reason I've definetly been enjoying the series, thus far. They stick to -reality-, keeping it based into a world that actually exists and makes it all too plausible that mutants are a reality. By keeping the movie focused more on the politics involved in the humans vs mutants bit, the powers become just as they should: a second nature, or an excellent skill (akin to excelling in science or art or what have you). Both movies also did a good job of not only keeping things grounded, but also a minimal cast; not to mention normal-looking. Personally, I loathe the steroid and over-the-top-muscle looks in the earlier comics, so I'm thankful the stronger-types such as Logan and Victor have been kept normal. X3, I fear, will fuck all of this to hell and back. First, they've added at least four new ones I can think of off the bat (Beast, Callisto Colusses, Kitty; unnecessarily expanded roles for the latter two) and with rumors of certain deaths for certain characters and unnecessary romances for others, normality seems to go out the window. Beast's makeup is atrocious; Kitty has absolutely no reason to be with Bobby; Colusses' best role is in the Ultimate X-Men series because, otherwise, he's just another Big Tough Guy; and, lastly, what purpose could 'Callisto', whoever THAT is, possibly serve? A teaser's purpose is to get one more excited for a full trailer and, obviously, for the movie itself. For me, it's simply causing more dread. Much agreed on the Juggernaut bit; he can only work in cartoons and comics. Outside of either medium and the outfit is simply screaming for a Queer Eye for the Mutant Guy make-over. [/lame joke

Thoughts on the trailer. -- 00:25 -- Ah, the magic of editing. Brett and his peeps are awesome for that. Love the mvid quality feel to it, as well. Showing the barest of scenes to keep ya wanting more. Also, did they have to change Storm's hair? I mean, seriously, they do that deliberately just so the character gets far more discussion than ever deserved. Halle Berry is not Storm; Ororo is a Goddess, and Halle is nothing but an 'ant in the afterbirth', mkay? -- 00:28 -- Oh. Hey, look, it's a new mutant. His name's Angel, and he has wings, and you can expect him to replace Nightcrawler with all his religious bullshit. Yawn. Also, the guy's far too muscular. -Niiiice- effect on the wings, though. -- 00:32 -- Yay, down with the capitalist cars!! Magneto is badass. If only he were, like, 30 years younger, I wouldn't feel so creepy about thinking he's hot. Then again, it truly does not matter what I, a female, thinks 'bout his looks. ^_~ -- 00:35 -- "I wish to cure us!" ...Far right, is that Jean? Icky outfit. Far left, ya got Juggernaut. Big strong guy with tacky armor and helmet. Oh, grand. Yay, Pyro!! Love the guy. Secondly, what could ol' daddy Mags cure the muties of? Humanity? ....I'm not followin'. -- 00:40 -- Once more, pause right here. Wouldn't that make for quite the amusing icon? The mouth looks...CG'ed somehow. Also, he has some fillings in the back. w00t. -- 00:42 -- Who the bloody FUCK is this chick?! And why is she making out with Bobby?! Wasn't he, like, with Rogue or somethin'? *headdesk* -- 00:43 -- Heh heh heh. OTP. *snerk* Despite my cynicism, I really am hoping for this movie's success. It is too bad that each second makes my hope -this much- dimmer. -- 00:46 -- If they go with the rumored Wolvie/Storm relationship and/or sex scene, then I shall happily announce the series death. In big, bold letters. -- 00:48 -- Heh heh... <3 for Wolvie's confuzzled expression. He's like a cat with a shiny toy. Like, "Oh. Look. Glasses. Floating in mid-air. Duuuuude." -- 00:56 -- Cheesy effect!!! -- 01:00 -- w00t. Storm has a new move, apparently. She....spins around really, really fast. Like, wow. -- 01:02 -- Mkay, this has relevance.....why, exactly? -- 01:05 -- Rogue is hot. I mean that in a nice, mature way. In the first movie, her looks fit perfectly; wasn't a supermodel, just an average looking teenager. In X2, she continued growing up. Now, I think that in X3, she's definetly more woman than girl. I hope she is given character. -- 01:09 -- That makeup is fucking SCARY. -- 01:16 -- Say it with me: Spiky, feathered hair! Basically, all of their hair is styled the same way: flows back, ends in spikes. Imagine the amount of gel used on those three -alone-. -- 01:21 -- I want to sing the 'Can't Touch This' song. Badass Mystique, yup, and awesome move... but gotta love the cuffs-over-crotch. -- 01:22 -- Army~! So, let's see, Phoenix on far right, Jugs beside her, then Mags, followed by Pyro and Callisto. Who is Callisto? Phoenix's outfit is still horrible. -- 01:25 -- Yes, let's blow up the bridge! That'll draw in the crowds! Who needs characters when you have REALLY BIG EXPLOSIONS? -- 01:39 -- End. All in all... my opinion remains unchanged about the film. Worth a rental, nothing more. I'll await the full trailer to see if it changes my mind. Doubtful.

Alright, now here's where it gets confusing. Last night, it didn't work on this computer (the one I use at home). This morning, at college, it worked fine... at the least, images were loading from the site. Now I have the same problem with Yousendit... get a Cannot Find Server//DNSerror here, yet it worked fine at college. Why?

Just proves the point. Tim Burton > Jessica Alba. Tsk, tsk. Shoulda seen Corpse Bride. Course I'll be the first to say it ain't perfect.

What's with the revamping of all the classics for the modern kids? Flipping through TV the other day, I caught a snippet of a badly drawn, over-tooned, mega cliched, badly voiced, and all around shitastic cartoon that looked vaguely familiar. I stuck around for a moment, nearly dropping my remote when I realized what it is on my screen: an ANIME-esque version of Batman. Seriously...what the shit?? I've no faith whatsoever in American animation anymore. That will be in someone's sig by the month's end, mark my words.

It was working within the PG-13 rating, I suppose. While I somewhat agree with the rage not translating well, ya have to look at it from a realistic-actors point of view. There's only such much Hugh, or any actor with such a major role, can do. To me, -not- seeing all the gory stuff leaves much to the imagination.

Its...touched upon in the first episode, then elaborated muchly in 'Three Stories', the ep that won the writer a much deserved Emmy. No, not amputated... not quite. His leg muscle died and, in 'Three Stories', he put himself in a drug-induced coma to live through the worst of the death. Whilst in that coma, his wife-at-the-time {Sela Ward's character} ordered the muscle removed, which was an in-between of amputating and not amputating. I'll have to rewatch the ep again to get the specific details.

Jeezus, that just -screams- of 'throw every character together, make them fight, and that equals MONEH~!' Sorry, no. The best thing about the X-films has been, at least in my opinion, the characters. Yes, the CGI is damn cool, but its there to support the characters unique powers and the respective fights that arise. That cast is just out of control. Too many characters, too many conviences. Besides. If they're going to throw a bunch of dream fights together, why not include Nightcrawler vs Toad? ...C'mon, I can't be the only one who thinks such a match would be damn cool. Yes, yes, I know Nightcrawler ain't in the movie. I'm still pissed about that. He goes to make room for... Beast, Angel, Juggernaut, and more Collosus? And the characters mentioned in the spoilers. It's just too much for a 2 hour movie. Plus, lets look at this from a budgetary perspective, mkay? You have Angel's wings {steel or feathers, its still a lot}, dark Phoenix {probably lotsa fire involved}, Beast {fur~!}, all the powers in the fights {geez...}, the Sentinels {holy hell, I can only imagine}. Ratner seems more keen on CG than character. ...Lame.
